- MB&F is one of the first independent watchmakers I remember when I started getting into watches back in 2010. I was always fascinated by their machines because they are so out of the box when it comes to the cases, movements and even their marketing. The HM10 Bulldog is one of my favorites because its case is so unique and it combines elements of the Horological Machine & Legacy Machine in one model (flying balance wheel + domed time indication).

The balance wheel also reminds me of a dog’s excitement. The design and font of “Bulldog” give it a very retro futuristic style. It looks like something the Jetsons would use!

OK, this is my second favorite watch on the channel, second only to the AP. It's definitely the coolest watch though. That time reserve mechanism just blew my mind. Everything about this watch is crazy. Love this review. Can't wait for the next week's watch.

@@SwissWatchGang Marko, I will share some user feedback about Defy 21 for your review. First and foremost, and you may already know this but just in case you dont, look at this video at 6:22 (czcams.com/video/-mzH7iAhxdA/video.html&ab_channel=WatchBoxStudios). It's about a technical spec change from announcement to launch. As a user since April 2019 I have experienced the following: the leather strap/deployant buckle combo is very uncomfortable (many other people are reporting the same thing on various forums). Swapping around (reversing) the strap makes it a little less uncomfortable. I purchased a rubber strap and have to admit that it is more comfortable than the leather one. I have read many owners complaining that the small hand on the subdial at 6 o'clock scratches the dial. They are reporting that they returned the watch. I have not noticed this problem on my watch thank god! But, in the summer of 2019 (about 3 months into ownership) I noticed that the watch started misfiring when I try resetting the chrono to 0. In other words, when I push the pusher at 4 o'clock, it returns the big chrono arrow to other than 0 positions. I reached out to Zenith via fcbk as well as several ADs who claim that Zenith says this is normal. HOWEVER, I have spoken to quite a few owners whose watches DO NOT have this problem. Furthermore, a couple of owners stated that they had this problem right after the purchase, had the AD replace the watch and the new item didnt display this behavior. So there definitely is a problem which Zenith is trying to sweep under the rug. Lastly, I could be wearing the watch several days in a row (say Fri through Monday) and if I swap to another watch on Tue morning (and leave the defy on the bedside table as opposed to a winder) it will lose a couple of minutes by Wed morning (or even Tue late evening like around midnight). So I guess 2nd half of the 50 or so hour power reserve doesnt distribute the torque evenly throughout the wind. I hope this helps :)

I definitivly like the three-dimensionality of MB&F watches.
The ingenuity and clin d‘oeil going used constructing these time machines, however, isn‘t paid tribute enough in the wrist watch form they come in. For me they ought to be desktop sized.

I get what you mean and it would be awesome to see bigger versions as well as wristwatches. That´s why they also make clocks that are stunning with L'Epée to offer this. What do you mean exactly by the "original bulldog" watch? I´m not sure I understand that correctly.
@@SwissWatchGang In the 1950s to the late 1970s brands like Seiko, Citizen and many others had chronos in their line-up with pushers at 11 and 1 o‘clock positions.
They were called Bullhead and those with more rectangular or odd-shaped cases were often referred to as bulldog, too.
Some of them had colour combinations that made them look like a French bulldog being on alert to its master. That‘s why they were called bulldogs instead of simply bullheads.

@@SwissWatchGang Yes! The way the hour complication is done..... Exploding and reforming into the next hour is just out of this world! I did read that it wasn't a very stable complication hence not many were produced.

It looks more like a toad than bulldog. Maybe it should be named bullfrog. Very nice exotic design. Not practical for wearing but good for collection and display.

Yes, it is complex, yes it is unique. No doubt it takes incredible imagination & artistry to come up with this; BUT for the regular folk like me, my question is WHY?? There is so many serious issues going on in the world, that the world of luxury watches in, and of itself is silly. This watch sets new standards in drunk lunacy. Just because it can be done, why does it need to be done?
