The iconic Three Shires Stone, the boundary stone at the summit of Wrynose Pass, that marks the location where the old counties of Lancashire, Cumberland and Westmorland met, fell in 2017 and appears not (as of 2021) to have been replaced. In my experience, there is a cohort of drivers who develop reverse amnesia when you meet them head-on on these single-track passes. The approach to Little Langdale is where I usually end up reversing uphill to the nearest passing place.
