    I can vouch for the aluminum billet fuel pump protector and spigot. Yes, I was left stranded in the woods. Once I got towed out (thanks DCTFAN), the folks at Rottweiler Performance had the billet kit in my east coast mailbox by noon the next day. Sturdy, effective and easy to install. 12,500 miles of TAT & BDR later, no issues. Buy one.

    Any suggestions on a front break upgrade for us paranoid about the front locking up which KTM did the recall for? I’ve seen posts online of lockup’s happening post recall. Can you just replace the master cylinder with an off the shelf unit? Not to bothered about single disk as ride on road, it’s more piece of mind and if the feel is better that’s a bonus.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 2 lety +2

      We would recommend the Brembo RCS 17 for dual disks with a reservoir kit, or the Brembo RCS15 for the single sided disk which we have a kit for. I believe it was the cheap master cylinders on the front braking system that were hanging up on the inside and causing those failures. We never had to warranty ours because we throw them in the trash the day we buy our bikes. www.rottweilerperformance.com/ktm-790-890-adventure-single-caliper-brake-kit-stage-2/

    Nice work. Been waiting for this. Now what's going on with the titanium sub-frame? ;) Would be interesting if some narrower front tanks were made. I remember running my 950 on a 6l tank whilst my main tanks were being painted. It was so slim. Of course the thirsty LC8 meant I couldn't ride very far. On the triple clamp I'm pretty sure some of the Italian companies have had billet triples for the 790 adventure for a while.

      Believe it or not we keep forgetting to weigh it. We think lower 400's but we'll get back to you. On the clutch, either are fine. We have run the Magura hydraulic lines and sell many of them and they are butter smooth. The cable isn't that bad, but on this bike we run our CRG Clutch kit where we had custom cables made by Motion Pro that link to CRG's R1 Yamaha lever that is adjustable both on the fulcrum and the lever position.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 2 lety +3

      You can certainly leave the mapping stock. There is no harm in that at all and the stock system will simply continue to map at 14.7 air fuel ratio just fine. The bike DOES NOT get lean with these changes. That is carburetor thinking. The stock system has narrow band O2's that monitor the exhaust and just keep everything at 14.7 in closed loop, which is safe. That being said, you are leaving some really good extra power on the table without mapping. So the answer is, yes it's safe, but you are missing out on some good extra ponies. Either way, you will love the airbox mods.

      Certainly, and we would agree that would be an awesome bike, but this bike is very different and for different riders. The only reason we raced this bike in the Sonora Rally was to test parts durability and the bike itself to see what could go wrong with it. The good news is that nothing substantial failed and we placed 9 seconds out of third OVERALL PRO behind Ricky Brabec and Skylar Howes. On a 790... Mission accomplished and it turned way more heads than a 450RR would in the same position. That was really the goal.

    Any interest or development in air intake breathing cleaner air from the battery location area. Breathing from a cleaner location is something I’d be interested in.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 2 lety +1

      We looked into that, but there are a number of problems with that. First, you are putting the filter right in the customer's face, which can get a bit on the noisy side. Keeping things under the seat and next to the muffler is more ideal for that. Second, you would have to recreate the velocity stacks and that costs quite a bit in mold costs which would have to be passed on to the customer. Third, the flow of air would not be as direct and bending things around tends to lose velocity which is part and parcel why our intake designs work so well is that we try not to force air to change directions too many times. Fourth, you would have to make a battery relocation kit, and that's costs more money which also must be passed on to the customers and also adds more vendors and parts to the kit. Fifth, you would dramatically reduce plenum space for air to be pulled from and sixth, the size of the filter would probably end up much smaller, and therefore load up much quicker. Seventh, where it currently breaths has not been found to be an issue. Pretty much ever dirt bike in the world breaths from a similar location and so far our current design has held up very well in very dusty climates.
      That's about the long and the short of it for us. We like the thinking you are doing, but we hope we illustrated well why we designed our system the way that we did.

      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 2 lety

      To be honest, I just went and looked for you and it has no marks on it and I just can't remember what we ended up with. I think, it's just the KTM bend as we have a few of those laying around. The stock bend has way too much pull back for our liking and are cramped, but have some good bar real estate.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před rokem +1

      You can drop 30+ lbs off of that bike easily if not more depending on your budget. There is 7 lbs of unsprung and rotating weight that can be lost using our single sided rotor kit. That's huge and really helps suspension work. You can use our rack eliminator kit to lose the rear handles and rack and go just fender. There is a couple lbs with the air box and major HP gains. A decat is worth about 4.5 lbs. Narrower rims toss a couple lbs each as well. Also check out our 'Diet Parts' section on our site. It's loaded with items we thing are major weight reducers. Im thinking about buying another bike after 5 years or more away. Nothing appealed then I saw the 890. Knowing the rally version is all that more cash, is it worth the extra bucks? Or should I get the stock R bike and modify from there?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 2 lety +1

      That's a tough one. If you like really nice suspension parts that are all billetey and beautiful, but work really well, then it's a good thing to consider. There are a number of other perks like carbon fiber tank guards that get ruined right away if you ever go down and the prestige of the livery colorways, so that may help push you off the fence, but if you don't care about that stuff you can probably achieve the same build with an R model and put the money saved into aftermarket parts and suspension and you'd probably be way ahead. If you are unlimited, do both!

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 2 lety +1

      @@jamesbarratt593 That's okay too. You can certainly make your budget work for you with the stock parts and some aftermarket parts and get very close. I would add that the suspension that the Rally comes with falls under 'diminishing returns', meaning that they are certainly better, but the 'better' gets smaller and smaller the further you go expense wise.

    Are you doing dakars? If so how are you dealing with the new digital routing over the paper versions?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The digital mapping is great, but harder to see in the sun, so we had to make a shade for it that you can see in our Sonora Rally videos on days after day one. They weigh about the same as all the other crap and are just simple. Kind of 'Kindle' like.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před rokem +1

      Most of the time they’ll just find a class for you and fit you in. Some of them may not for safety reasons like Dakar, but for the Sonora Rally they had an ‘Adventure’ class just for us.

    • @RottweilerPerformance

      15/45 is what we run. The 15 tooth front sprocket allows a bit more ratio down low and 45 is stock rear.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Not a dumb question at all, but we do not unfortunately. We just moved the rear sensor to the front and made a small billet carrier to mount the rear in the front at the bottom of the fork so that it also read from the same ABS ring.
