Too much ego still in the England team, even after the game they’re all standing around on their own, it’s a team game and the manager needs to be a leader and not a friend. England won’t win on the biggest stage until their football culture changes, meaning that their football needs to shift to a more technical, possession based style. The EPL is very exciting but teams don’t generally need to worry about losing possession because the speed of the game means that they’ll get it back again, soon enough. If you lose the ball against Spanish sides, it might take three or four minutes chasing round before you get it back again, which all adds up towards the end of the game. No sign of some of the English fans who were crowing here after the Dutch game, funnily enough.
