    I just sold my 2021 XT250 and purchased a base '22 KLR (pick it up tomorrow). Guess I have to give some credit to DITR for that. FWIW - i have the Double Take mirrors and they have moved on each successive bike I buy (TW200, CB750, XT250). I crashed a lot on my TW & XT in the silt and sand of CA deserts. Within my first couple offs I destroyed the glass in my Double-Take mirror. If you break the glass, they don't warranty it - you have to buy the glass from them. The glass breaks just as easily on a DT mirror as the stock; that's a thing I don't see enough folks talking about. Keep the great content coming!

    Nice, thanks for the video...good stuff. My first mod on my KLR is with the shifter lever. I bought the lever from Happy Trails. I think its a little bigger than the Tusk which helps to fit my size 14 boot. I'll be doing the the same pegs and mirrors you've installed, thanks for the tips. I also have on "preorder" a centerstand from Happy Trails made for the 2022 KLR. They tell me should ship in December. Keep the videos coming!

    My first modification was the addition of deer whistles.theyre a must where I live and I've seen several deer already do a double take and not jump into my path.I actually totaled my cruiser a few years ago when I hit a deer going about 60 mph and since I'm religious I believe it was by the grace of God I wasn't seriously injured.in fact I wasn't injured at all.ever since then any bike I own gets deer whistles on day one.

    Great vlog, thx! Was the KLR's 1/2 price of a Tenere 700 the primary reason you went with Kawasaki over Yamaha, were there other factors? What about suspension, I understand for 2021 the KLR was stiffened (so many complained the previous generation bottomed out), so is it now strong enough for moderately aggressive trail ridding, what is your weight?

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  Před 2 lety

From one former Africa Twin owner to another (good job taking off your accessories BTW, I gave too many accessories away free as mine was significantly farkled), now that you've had the KLR for a minute, to what extent are you feeling a difference in performance between the AT and the KLR? Simply said, is the KLR feeling sluggish in comparison, and if so, how are you feeling about that? I know you recently rode the Tiger 900 Rally which has AT like performance. I'm interested in your comments because I am giving some though to a KLR.

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  Před 2 lety +2

      Honestly, it's fantastic. I cranked up the preload and rebound on the rear (which is insanely easy...you just need a 10mm socket and a flat head screwdriver) and it handles me and my weight just fine, even hitting big potholes at 40+.

    Hi, I have a 2022 Klr650abs adventure. Do I need to install the thermo bob and doohickey ? Are these modifications necessary?
    Thanks

    Do you use heated gear? If so, does the KLR push enough juice for it or will you have to mod?

      KLR has plenty of juice. I run heated grips and a heated seat on mine as well as charge my phone with zero problems. I also have the gen II and halogen headlight bulbs.

    The biggest question to Kawasaki about KLR650 is this: will they ever ship it to Europe and Russia?

      Great question for Kawasaki, for sure. Sadly, they don't answer when I email them.
