Yellowing isn't bad I like my books that way they add character to them
I think the same
Yes, you are right
Yes
Thanks for making me understand it’s ok for books to turn yellow 🌼
Wish I could have that mindset
Frankly, looking beautiful without make-up.
Simplicity is beauty.
:D
Pass on to next generation .....bah!! I am going to die with my sweetheart(s)!!!!!!!.....l am going to make my books perform sati(no sarcasm)!!!!
Lol
Lmao. I don't give my books to anyone. Not even my kids... I will take them to heaven for re-reading.
Me too
😂😂😂
@@NaveenKumarErroju Great ,Very very great
Thanks for this!! I just took out the first book of Harry Potter that I owned and it looks brown! 😥😭 I almost cried!! I mean , it has been five years😂. You have maintained your books very well. Hats off to you!👍🏼
Thank you. You can do it too
Very good discussion -- just two small points I'd add. Yellowing of pages is often a symptom of acidification, and that has two principal ingredients: humidity and chemical properties of the paper itself (often compounds added to enhance printing quality). Also, modern hardcover books are seldom made well enough to withstand the stress on the cover and joint caused by pulling the book from the shelf with your fingers at the top of the spine. For heavy or tightly packed volumes (a no-no also), it's better to push the book out a little from the front edge until it can be grasped along the back.
Thank you so much for adding this. One of the most valuable additions to this video. Thanks a ton!
Ahhh now I am regretting for keeping my books in drawer for almost 5 years..some of them still looks new while some have I guess turned pale yellow..I wish I had visited channel years back..then today I would had a better collection and amazing reading experience 😣😥..
Ps thanks u for making me awake and aware💖
I hope you have a better luck with the upkeep of books now. Thanks for visiting my channel
Storing and managing books is so much hard work. I have switched to Kindle for this reason but I loved reading physical books. Wish had more space!
I get that
Kindle books can be less expensive and wont damage but nothing beats the feel and smell of actual paper pages.
All my books have varying degrees of yellowing, but one thing I've noticed in all of them is that the tops of the books are very yellow while the bottom and sides are much less so. I definitely think oxygen exposure plays a role in the books turning yellow. Because when you store your book on a bookcase the bottom is covered and the side is covered. Only the top part and the spine are exposed. I think that's why only the tops of my books are extremely yellow. But I'm not quite sure if this is the only reason.
How are you protecting the edges?
Give some tips to school students. also please tell how to arrange books in a bag for school purposes
Hmm have been years since I went to school 😬
hard covers should always be at the back, better if it’s bigger than the rest. then arrange by size or by your class sched.
I either hold them in my hand or I put them in it’s own pocket. Normally that works okay, but I get pushed around allot in the bus so idk.
I've been keeping my books in a closed area thinking the longer exposed it is to oxygen & sunlight the yellow it gets. Lol. Thanks so much. Gtg, imma let them breathe now hahahah
heheh
same 😂 i even put it in plastic before storing it because i think air makes it yellow. i guess not?
Indian Booktuber sorry, correct me if i’m wrong. so i i need to remove all the plastic encasement my book have?
sunlight and humidity makes it yellow
@@bbdollgaming5045what did you notice bro
Did your books turn yellow after storing it in a plastic bag ??
Please say
Much needed video ❤📚
I don't have bookshelf but I do store my books in cloth bags.
That's really helpful thanks for sharing. Another thing u could add, putting silica gel bags into bookshelves also prevents your books from moisture and humidity.
That's a great idea. Thanks for sharing this
*Indian Booktuber* my pleasure
Do I need to replace silica gel bags or I can use them forever
@@hellothere_24
I guess you don't need to replace silica bags frequently it has no expiry date, and also it is not duration based but the amount of moisture, bags get from the atmosphere some larger silica dessicants have moisture indicators, but not all like small bags, packets can be "dried out" when they are full of moisture and reused. Moisture sticks to the outside of silica gel but doesn't get absorbed by the silica gel this means the process reversible. If you can find a way to remove the water from used silica gel beads then they will again begin to adsorb water from the surrounding environment.
Oh! I was totally clueless about book spine management. 🙈 Thank you for this video ♥️
Happy to help :)

@@IndianBooktuber *What's the number of books in your Library ?*
4:11 I never concern about that before, I just think it keeps pages away from dust fall. But now I see, I looked at the damage I put on them. It's so terrible!! I will keep them turn upright. Thanks for your advice!!
All the best
The tip about removing hard cover jackets when reading was really helpful, I would have never thought of that
I live in wet tropical area . It has a moulds smell which i hate. It has a wet feeling during monsoon. The bookstore owner told me we have to clean with clothe often. I collect silica gel pack and keep them in the shelves
That is why i love E-books, but I have this one book that is precious to me, its a paperback of Steve Jobs Biography
Awesome
If you are reading hardbacks .... rich people
I shouldn’t’ve laughed so hard
but i hope u did. Laughing is good for health :P
neocity next lol
Thank you for the great content.I think my books will always be yellow since I love reading outside on the grass.
I have a question (really hoping u would answer to that)
I am a student and don't have a book shelf nor do i have these fancy books...
I just want to take care of my normal studying material and copies(which are lots of)
So can i store each group of related notes and books in plastic ziplock bags(of course after cleaning them properly) lying on top of each other in a closed cupboard with no ventilation and no sunlight?
My main concerns are
1. Dust getting accumulated on books
2. Them getting yellowish due to reasons(like idk why the books turn yellow.. Maybe sundamage, humidity and air i.e. oxygen exposure)
After storing it in a plastic bag
What is your review now ?
Did any damage happen to your books or did it get yellow or spoiled??
Please share your experience
Love your channel! Please make a video on the best kind of bookshelves available in India, from jugaads & affordable options to high-end range shelves & cases. I'm having great trouble finding the best bookshelf suited for my space 😭
Please suggest some here also😊
The permanent Solution for yellow pages would be to make paper with hemp fiber.
thank you for this video. I once put my books out in the sun and the spine broke of some of the books😭😭😭😭
oh... no sunlight. It's actually bad for the books.
I like☺️ the way to talk with facial expressions.
Apparently another CZcamsr prajakta koli has also same way to speak.
By the way i like your audacity to review,
No mattet what, Good is good, bad is bad

Thank you :)
This was the perfect video!!!! I really needed some tips 💙💙 loved the video
Thanks :)
Please do share it to help me out :)
Omg! The books behind you in a right side is that a harry potter series?! Myghaddd i search in yt how to care book (because i bought new book haha) and i saw this. And waaaaaah idk if that is hp series 😂😍 i envy you to have a complete seriess sana oll 😂😍
Yes it is I have the same set
Which type of bookcase shall i buy open or closed?
I would go for a closed one if I was acting like a wise person 😅
I have so many books that when I dust them it takes 3-4 hours for half of the books. I have 1500+ books. And I give up everything half in the way while removing dust with a book-cleaning brush individually, very tiring :(
:O That must be an impossible task. Truly.
I'm so jeaaloussss
Wanna sell some?
Can you give me some? Hahahahaaha
In my collection, World Boiok Dictionary f(A-K) find a prominent place. It is a 1990 edition and I bought the lexicon in June or July 2006.😊
Plastic covering my paperback books has helped me a lot to keep them tidy☺️
awesome
I have noticed that while buying paperbacks if they are floppy, the spine won't break. Stiff paperback means the spine will break
That's a really good observation.
Amazing one!! That spine problem with thick books,so relatable!!
heheh it's a big problem.
I was looking for storing books for moving. But this was great to, can never know too much abut book care!
I follow all these but my books get yellow very quickly... Please help me😭
:( there must be something u r doing wrong
That's probably because your books are not getting enough sunlight
If you keep your books in dark which is all covered up, it become yellowish try it place your bookshelf at the brightest spot of your room ! Hope it helps
finally! someone pointed it out. i hate color oriented book shelves. i tend to buy so many longggg book series and how do u even find ur next book to read in the series when its color oriented : | either by size or by series order. thats how i like my books to be organized. and yeah i am that rich reader who loves to buy hardbacks but only when they cost below 1000 >
Exactly!
I don't hoard a lot of things, but books are something I don't get rid of.
🥰Thank you for sharing how to keep books ❤️
Hey Manpreet! You have been doing an awesome job. Carry on doing such great work.
At what age did you start reading books? And what's your present age?
Thank you. I started reading books ... other than my school books when I was in 8th std. I am 25, almost
Indian Booktuber where are you from? And how do you manage so much time to read books?? What do you study?
I'm buying a bookshelf soon and this really helped. Thanks!
great to know that :)
This was soo sooo needed
Thanks Manpreet!!!!!!
you're welcome :)
I don't know why but Di trying hard to control her emotions while talking so beautifully ❤️😖
awww so sweet. Thank you
To prevent cracking the back i usually read the ebooks and get paperbacks anyways for the collection.
Thick books like asoiaf and sjm books are very heavy to be read from physical copies that is why i read them on Phone it's easier that way
Thanks, very helpful, learnt some new things. It dusts a lot in my place and dusting my books would take a whole day. So I keep some books expensive ones sealed in a plastic cover or bubble wrap. Is it ok or they will turn into yellow pages? Thanks
2:15 What a coincidence. I came here searching for this while reading the same book you're holding.
cool :)
thank you for the info and i have listened carefully 👍👍
Glad to hear that
Thank you sm I brought it ends with us today and ended up curling the last page 🤦🏻 thank you for this
Please make a video on good conversation skill both hindi and english as well on english learning skills please

Heheh thanks :)
It sucks whn i ordr n amazon they gve wrst paperbck at times.. for cost cutting thr s no othr options than odering online thru amazon...
it's not really the problem with amazon. The edition comes from the publisher. Yes, at times, there are pirated copies on amazon but if you buy from a trusted seller, that shouldn't be a problem.
Indian Booktuber thnk u 😊 i will b strt searching fr tat trustd seller .. someday u hve to mke a video on this i guess 😋 Trusted seller on amazon
LOL Go for fulfilled by amazon products :P
Indian Booktuber am fulfilled by ur reply.. 😁
I also have a harry potter book whose pages turned yellow, i also have other books but they didn't turn yellow even though i kept them in the same place, i guess its just harry potter books 🤔🤔
Could be. Every book comes with a different paper quality
Cast Reparo
what bookshelves do you recommend, wood, plastic etc; and what type.
I love the wood ones.
Finally a booktuber I can look up to
I also love my books I care for my books and keeps them safe 🥰🥰🥰books are my friend whenever I feel alone it's only with me
That’s amazing :)
Wanted to know your thoughts about ebooks? Do you prefer ebooks or physical books? The thick game of throne copy u showed in this video - such kind of books are difficult to store and will get damaged while reading. A kindle copy of the same though is easily manageable. However physical books have their own charm. Please make a video on ebooks vs physical books. Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks
Much needed!! Thank you so much ❤
you're most welcome :)
Thanks for the useful tips Manpreet. Any suggestions on preventing mold/fungus on books in moist cupboards?
Sorry but no. It's one of the most difficult things to manage... the only way to prevent is to prevent the moistness but then... sorry :(
@@IndianBooktuber Thanks. I am finding Silica Gel pouches quite effective in preventing moisture and bad odor in books. Of course, we can easily switch to eBooks now!!
Thanks much for this video. I have 500+ books and they turned into yellow because of keeping them in closed cupboard. Any suggestion to get them back to white?
Don’t think that can happen. Yellowing is basically the ageing of the paper. Can’t be reversed as far as I know
Thank you so much ma'am for guiding us that how to manage our books
:)
well done dear sister, you are unmatchable in India. best of luck from Pakistan Peshawar.
thank you so much
Indian Booktuber , my pleasure
Should we put brown covers on our books or leave it just the way it is. ?
Should I start through Harry potter book series as a beginner
Tips on how to protect book edges
Wonderful it will help me for my Home Library...
I am buying a new bookshelf. Should i buy it with glass doors or without?
Kindly reply which one is better.
Well, it’s much easier to manage a bookshelf with glass doors. Mine doesn’t have any doors like that and it’s cleaning nightmare.
What if you are going away for a long time and you have to lock your library? Do books need to breathe?
Thank you so much didi...
I got a perfect video for myself..
Tysm agan😊
I have a book which has nearly 12 hundred pages and the book is actually huge. Like it's long and and broad obviously. And it's a hardcover. But it's corners are getting ruined. Could you please tell me some ways to save it?
Can we cling wrap books? Will it protect from dust and insects?
Sorry, I'm not sure
Does Ziplog bags are good to take care of our books ?
Please reply
hii aunty any tips for notebook storage?
my textbooks and notebooks get spoiled really easily specially the corners of notebooks 😫😫😫😫
in schoolbag its too hard cuz we keep bag on floor n then all the weight is on the down part of my notebooks
as they all r diff. sized my biggest books down corners r the worst pls make a video on this topic im really struggling to take care of my notebooks 💀💀
This was sooo helpful.
Thank you sooo much.
I hope someone can help me and reply to my comment. I live in Mumbai, where during monsoon, the humidity reaches close to 90%. I own paperbacks only (except a few hardbacks). I can't invest in a dehumidifier as it won't be a logical solution to a humid city like Mumbai. How can I save my books from humidity that cause pages to go all weird.
I have a couple books I want to carry in my satchel bag. They don’t fit vertically so I want to store them horizontally. Do I put them in spine down? I want to preserve them as I carry them. I’d assume putting them spine up could ruin the pages by putting the book’s pressure on the pages ?? Thanks for your knowledge
Hmm I would put them spine down but can’t say which would be the right way. As long as the book is protected from other items in the bag, it should be good
What if u cover tht open book shelf with a cloth ? Will tht prevent dust and help??
Don’t think so. Could help a little bit, maybe. But it will look very bad too I think
@@IndianBooktuber wht ABT a transparent plastic or silicon cover?
Thank you for the tips. I always thought that my habit of opening my books as little as I could was an obsession, but when I see people holding a paperback flat and then they have a bent or cracked spine it's just not my cup of tea😂
this one is really needed Manpreet. thanks .
glad that you liked it :)
hello, should i wrap my books in plastic book covers or not?
Thanks Di. It was really helpful!
:)
The pages of books are turning yellow so much , can you suggest how can i prevent that to happen
Very good method of your teaching
Thanks a ton for the video. My house is being reconstructed and I've got closed book shelves made😑 any suggestions?
If I had a new bookshelf, I would have closed bookshelf. no, not really but u know... both have pros and cons. Open bookshelves are a cleaning nightmare. So whatever u have go with it and take a few extra steps to ensure papers aren’t spoiled much
@@IndianBooktuber thank you so much for replying. I'll definitely take proper care but is there anything which specifically needs to be done to help the books keep safely? Have you made any video regarding that?
I took direct sunlight advice from advice from Joe Goldberg 😅
2:04 this is so amazing to see. Photographer's POV 🧐
What're you referring to
@@IndianBooktuber the candidness and the geometry of the opened book. The opening pages(subject) silently refering to the bunch of books in your background. I'm actually talking about the moment after 2:04 when you blinked down. It's completely coincidental but great.
can i keep my book in pp plastic bag. i don't have much space. i keep the book on top of another. Please help.
NIce video thank you. MMm i wil lhave to take care of my books!.
My house is on ground floor therefore lot of dust always enter . Keeping the shelf open and also preventing them from sunlight 🥺
Yellowing just make the book look royal
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
Loved all the points. Loved the video.

I love yellow pages!!:)
I found it very helpful. Thanks for this video.

Is it ok for the books to get indirect sunlight? My window opened slightly gives off a a bit of indirect sunlight…
Yes. Has been okay for me so far
Thank you so much I love your channel
Thanks :)

Hello🙋
Here after your Instagram story! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for coming to this and watching it ☺️☺️☺️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Helloo i'm not sue if you will answer me, but the golden letters on my paperback harry potter books are fading away, i almost cant even read them. Do you know what i can do to paint over it? Or at least preserve the rest of them left
Thank you :)
Hey, honestly, I can’t say what’s causing that. Could be the quality of the paperback or some weathering element. Try storing the books away from dust and direct sunlight.
Hi. I'd like to know where you got your bookshelves from. I'm in need of shelves for my books
I got that custom made
I am a bookworm and have a thousand books.
Thanx!! It is helpful.
