I feel like no one is giving Fassbender's character enough credit for the single most badass choking rescue in history.
Niall Reid And there's going to be two Fassbenders! That's double the chance this movie won't suck.
Niall Reid he fixes everything he touches, except assassins creed
I feel like people are more "triggered" by two gay people than to notice Ridley Scott's obsession for religious symbolism. The Last Supper? The way the shot is positioned focusing on the young woman at the center like Christ? The Covenant? Come on people!
LOL
True. LOL
James Franco and Danny McBride? Alien Covenant is Pineapple Express in Space.
Fahri Akalin cue PAPER PLANES.

Fahri Akalin lmao 😂 best movie pineapple express
This is such a brilliant character introduction, in less than five minutes it made me care for the people as a group more than the film ever did.
No. Otherwise it would be in the movie.
I wish this would of been the first scene of the crew we got in the movie instead of that whole walter tryin to save the ship scene. Its a fun scene and i think audiences would of dug it. a moment of levity before all hell breaks lose.
"I'm just burnin' up" Hah! Having seen Alien: Covenant I get it now lol
Yeah that's like...a really disturbing foreshadowing, lol
He certainly got a warm reception.
He was a good captain but he had a hot temper sometimes. :-/

I wish all studios would make prologues instead of trailers. Prologues setup the story without spoiling anything.
Yeah, thats true!
GTKdyehard So we get to watch the first or second 5 minutes of the movie without paying?
It's a good idea for most stories - like this one.
They made both tho, and Trailer doesnt spoil either if its well done (But yeah, most arent well done so theres that)
Yeee it's a good idea!!! I see gays and i dont go to this movie. Thanks
Wow, what a lovely bunch of people. Great chemistry. I feel like I'll be really attached to them. I'm sure nothing bad will happen to them.
@Golden Fenrir Loved the scene where she was choking and it was just food
Yeap. Most of them died screaming 🤷🏽♂️
@@miselabram3711 understand the sarcasm man.
I love how they made a reference to the chestburster scene in the original right down to the "Hey the food's not that bad" line
And her coughing and choking at the table.
"Foods not that bad"
That line is directly from the original Alien film
So, that's it huh? We're in some kind of time loop?
Certainly an homage
Rip John Hurt
Dormammu I've come to bargain
IKR!?
That smile Fassbender gives at the very end is haunting.
He's the good David, the bad David is already on the planet.
All the Davids are bad :P
this one is walter
To caught you off guard
Excellent artificial person!
How is this NOT in the movie? Just saw Alien: Covenant and I feel like not including this scene was a big mistake. This little piece goes a long way in helping to establish the group's characters and relationships, something that the opening of the film could definitely use more of. It also clearly establishes Walter's crush on Daniels, the geeky judgment of religious nerds Oram & Karine, and the fact that everyone on board is married (an interesting detail which is barely an afterthought in the film itself).
I'm very happy that I heard about this prologue on Filmspottung as I was driving home from the theater, and was able to see it here on CZcams; it's an unfortunate omission from the film.
They should not have assumed everyone saw this prologue. It's less than 5 minutes long yet adds more characterization than anything else in the film. It's a missed opportunity because the cast is fantastic. James Franco as a the ships captain was an inspired choice and its a shame we didn't even get to see him on the big screen.
I think it's also a padded judgment from the studio. The movie would've been too long in comparison to how long the actual alien makes an appearance. Just like with 2014 Godzilla. I for one agree with you.
sidewinder3000 I agree 100!
I just bought the movie, and I just found out about these scenes.. I watched the movie and couldn't relate with these dumb fuckng characters. This scene would have made the movie better, but still not good, and far from great.
I saw the movie his week and it just pissed me off. I didn't care about anyone and killing off Shaw that way was downright disrespectful. but I JUST found these prologue scenes.. whyyy the hell weren't these in the movie? there was more character development in these five mins that that entire two hour movie. -_-
00:49 : James Franco: " I feel like im burning up"
Fox: AHAHAHAHAH
Also Franco: First Time?
Seems like they have strong chemistry. Nice reference to the original chestburster scene. All I can really tell so far
+Justin Ferrell personally I loved Prometheus. But don't worry. The writer of gladiator(also directed by Ridley Scott) is coming back and working with him again on Covenant so now all the cool questions Prometheus brought up will be followed up on by a competent writer. Hopefully it could be like what Lost could have been if a smart writer came in in the last two seasons and gave it a good ending lol
I think Prometheus biggest problem was not all the questions it asked as I also really enjoyed the film for what it was, but the problems were in the curiosity and simple mindedness of "world renowned" scientist who did the stupidest things and I am specifically looking at that snake scene.
They even mentioned the Aliens, "Giant cockroaches that *then the person is cut off*"
@Ripper you realize that in movies characters will not do things that someone in a scientific profession would do. If they did then as soon as the outbreak starts they'd go right into containment protocol and probably burn anyone they assumed of being infected right away.
So would you say it looks promising?
I wish all trailers were like this. just give me a snippet of the movie that doesn't spoil the whole thing but gives me an idea of the feel of the movie.
and to all the negative comments, people take a chill pill, step outside of yourselves, and stop being so self-centered. this comment section is pure negative garbage.
onedeadsaint it's not a trailer
your right the trailer showed quite a few of these people dying
This isn't a trailer nor is it a scene from the movie. This is a prologue.
onedeadsaint You haven't watched many Alien movies have you.. or any movies in general, for that matter
onedeadsaint yeah but they said this was the prologue so you know that know they all think they are gonna colonize another planet to save mankind but that android guy is gonna make alien rape one of the girls and make that alien again
0:48 "I'm just burning up".........
I see whatcha did there!!!!
I still don't get it.. explain
@ he’s just burning up, just how he burned up in his pod lol
If this scene along with The Crossing were in the movie.. it would've explained the story a bit better...
Well, Ridley fucked up once again, and he will probably fuck up next alien movie too
@Matt Junewski I’d bet some bonehead Fox exec cut this out.
@@Silversmok3 precisely. Sometimes I think releasing these prologue scenes OUTSIDE of theaters was a way for them; supposedly, but failing to do so in reality; to give two different audiences (good writing with characters and these quiter scenes, versus right to the action bam bam bam quicker movie with more horror jumps and kills) both what they want. As usual, dismal failure.
Just Ridley Scott really showing how out of touch he is!
"I will use the pinnacle of 2017 technology, CZcams, as a kind of 'homework assignment,' for the audience! Obv 100% of people that see the film will have watched these prologue scenes over and over before seeing it in theaters. Yup... literally EVERY SINGLE person in the theater will know these scenes and experience the full pay off with no feelings of confusion at all. I. Am. Brilliant."
@@Citi2en_V41n I really loved this film, and I'm a huge fan of the original '79 film, if that means anything. I really felt shifting the focus to the androids was a brilliant move, as they were always one of the most interesting (and least explored) aspects of the series, to me, and there's just...so much to chew on there
That choking was great for 3 reasons.
1. It's a great call back to the original Alien.
2. It is used for either foreshadowing or misdirection because we don't know if she carries the rumored throatburster
3. It shows the new David android's loyalty to the crew and to Weyland. Making sure the crew stays alive long enough to finish Weyland's mission.
Osiris Junk I was thinking this scene was foreshadowing as well, for either throatbursting or backbursting. And now that I read them, those terms seem completely X-rated.
I love how Walter is much different from David to. Almost more advanced in a way. You can still tell he's an android, but he's much more humanoid than David. I love the level of detail gone into android development. David in Prometheus, was sooooo great because you know he's an android, but what's great about that is that it shows android technology wasn't nearly as advanced as it was in Alien. Ashe was sooo convincing throughout the film so I love that detail. OMG SOOO GOOD!
+Striker163 also Walter talks almost like bishop when David sounded more like a child
nah it was dumb fanboy shit. hollywood recycle bin
Osiris Junk it felt more like a self parody
I can tell the REAL throat burster scene is gonna be scary, panicy, and bloody...Omg what a unique twist on the classic chestburster
TimisaLilMonster if only they didn't reveal so much it would be a nice surprise to see that
TimisaLilMonster Probably gonna be the one who choaked.
the belly burster from avpr and the pregnant chick. that shits fucking sick, hopefully they bring hardcore stuff like that here to covenant
What's next? Anal burster when you squat on the toilet? lol
TimisaLilMonster Don't give them ideas... no, wait, keep doing it.
I think it would have been extremely powerful if this was used not as a prologue, but as a bonus after-credits scene or something similar. Seeing the events of the movie play out and then seeing one more scene in some sort of a flashback style that truly exemplifies the close human connection of it all would have made the film all the more impactful.
My thoughts exactly! I mean. It would be the obvious thing to do, right?
I love the call back to the original Alien. When she starts chocking and he says "The foods not that bad" it's the exact line Parker said to Kane when he had the seizure in Alien.
Wow that's the first time people waited for James Franco to leave before they started partying.
I'm pretty sure everyone waits for James Franco to leave before a party.
I would. Franco is a loser, ha!
I liked him in 127 hours, but other than that, he really bothers me....comes across as a huge asshole to me.
That explains why he is starring in the next installment of the Alien franchise and you are not.
That makes absolutely no sense. I chose not to act because that isn't what I want to do...... lol going to have to do better than that francofanboy66
sets up the film perfectly, everyone needs to chill out, this isn't the film- its a prologue.
i think it looks great
Frankie Joe thank you
Frankie Joe well said
People like you are the reason why these films get destroyed with the typical Hollywood bull shit and this scene encompasses A LOT of the typical Hollywood BS. IF this is what the movie is going to be like, its going to be fucking awful. If you cant see that, then you're 12 years old, or you enjoy the cheesy, same story line, same plot line, same characters that the film industry shits out like a factory in 95% of its movies. If you like this scene, you probably liked Jar Jar Binks.
why are there gay people on a colony mission. how are supposed to make new people?
Agreed, it's great!
That foreshadowing tho
The way Walter also smiled showed that he genuinely felt like he was part of the family group. To the covenant! 🥂🍻
R.I.P. THE COVENANT CREW....
Yeah, they're all going to die, except maybe one or two.
SPOILERS!!!!
😭
The prologue was soo good I thought I was watching a movie. I guess I know what to watch this offseason
have to imagine some of this will be in the actual film no?
hopefully some fucking film so you won't lose 38-10 in a fucking wild card game you bum ass shit
It's not. The short was conceived by Ridley Scott and 3AM, directed by Luke Scott (Ridley’s Son), and produced by RSA Films. It is not included in the film itself, but rather the start of the viral marketing campaign.
Luke Scott??? Ugh 😑 ya mean Ridleys spoiled kid directed this shite? Any director who approved this script should be relegated to scripting reality shows. Why couldn't "Luke Scott" get a real job & not try & ride his daddy's coat tails. This prologue was a lead ballon from the beginning. I'm sure the actual film won't be much better.
Let me TLDR bootsy's comment for everyone else.... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WHY WASN’T THIS SCENE IN THE MOVIE??!!
It’s a great introduction to the characters.
No idea, but it's really weird...
I think that it was cut becausse of the obvious religious conneection to 'The Last Supper." Note the groupings of the characters, the perspective lines and that Walter in the only one in shadow.

Cameren Ceniceros it would be delightful actually
I love the way Fassbender plays the android. He's got the stoicism down perfectly, he could easily play a terminator.
Plus the surgical precision of that punch Heimlich maneuver was awesome.
Probably smacked her on the back and quietly thought to himself "Pipe down, little Xenomorph baby, it ain't your time yet!"
"surgical precision". it was actually bullshit, either you clap their back a couple of times or you press up into the stomach (Heimlich maneuver). Giving them a violent punch in the back won't accomplish much more than pain.
Have you ever done the Heimlich? Or back blows to someone who's choking? Sometimes it clears on the first instance, especially if it's liquid. And considering Fasbender plays an android (who can perform surgery no less, mind you.) it's not unbelievable he'd be able to dislodge something with a calculated amount of force in one blow.
soab24 stfu doc
That's the only role he can play because his acting is so fucking robotic and boring
Interesting - you get a sense of Oram and Karine's devout beliefs at 1:46 when they get uncomfortable with Lope and Hallett kissing. They really should've kept this scene in the movie. It really helps establish all the characters, their nuances, and their relationships with each other.
They are also kinda judgy about people getting drunk.

Godspeed, hero. Keep doing what you're doing.
I agree. I can't wait for them to all die in the end. lol
Looks cheap, specially the actors on here (except of course Fassbender, he's a great) the rest make it seem awkward and its not clicking for me. The actors on Prometheus were unknown too but they did better acting than this bunch, i believed them. This one just seems messy.
P.S. the pacing of the music on here is horrid imo
He is burning out. Get it ? It's a pun. Brilliant writing. Give the man a Oscar
Walter needs to update his database... that is NOT how you perform a heimlich...
It's a _'future'_ Heimlich.
I hate when actors/directors are so careless about details like this. It would have cost them nothing to look it up on yt before shooting this scene, and make it more realistic = enjoyable for the audience.
If you want to talk about details, just look at how Ridley Scott is directing. Seriously, one small line in the movie can have huge importance, and when you look up what some of the dialoge really means you'll be suprised how much work is put into the movie
It was effective for him.
To the crew of the Covenant: I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.

Ronnie Fernandez If Covenant is a success, it may inspire another video game oriented towards the Alien style of approach.
Same! News the perfect time too. Wouldn't it be awesome if it took place on a developing colony???????? Hmmmmmmmm
well..we wil get a VR alien covenant game though, with Ridley Scott involvement.
lunatiksAlterEgo Yes, just a shame it's VR though, the technology is still too expensive.
alien isolation is the best game i've played in recent years.. someone mentioned developing colony for the sequel, that would be awesome, instantly reminded me on AvP 2 from 2001, the first game that captivated me with the atmosphere.. and scared the shit out of me, lol

Jimmy and Danny trying so hard not to crack and laugh. I love those 2 in This is the End.
They do have killer chemistry you can't deny that.
Well, not sure how I feel about Franco and Mcbride in an Alien movie..but..okay
Evan Blazer I was on board with McBride as the pilot, but Franco as the captain? Micheal Keaton would've been great.
If Jack Black can be a teacher, and a used-cars salesman can become the president of the United States, then it sure makes sense, that Franco can be a captain in a very expensive space-mission...
... wait... what did I just type???
Franco's role is 10 mins long, and hes a pretty great serious actor....McBride on the other hand....i have no clue lol
McBride is gonna be fine, Franco on the other hand I stand as he plays the same dude over and over. I guess McBride does as well, but he may show us something we never seen before.
McBride is one of the key reasons I think this will be awesome.
This cast is incredible. James Franco and Billy Crudup are two of my favorite actors.
This Prologue Is Simply SENSATIONAL! What a SAGA !!!!!
I'm officially excited for Alien: Covenant.
The wonderful thing about this clip is how they make you care for the characters, make them look like just normal people, people that could be your friends. And that will higher the stakes the moment people start dying.
+Imago Gestalter: So highly intelligent, skilled people have a certain way they have to behave, right? LOL, what a joke. Their behavior doesn't make them inadequate to do their job. Maybe just wait and see the skills they have before judging. You're one of those people who wanted to dislike the clip so he looked for a way to do so.
You're boring, bro. Go bark up another tree.
The didn't feel like real people at all. The Nostromo crew did, this doesn't.
Well. These people aren't miners, and they're not in the first line of ships like Prometheus. Secondly, they're barely waking up. They're not in close proximity to scour the planet and colonize (this is the part where they're required to give impression).
Last I checked, the crew in the Nostromo was rudely awakened after a distress signal, so they didn't have enough time for chitchat. We don't actually know how colonists "behave", since we see them in Aliens for the first time (with most of them dead).
The scientists abroad Prometheus are there for strict business -- the representative Vickers is largely influential and assures the importance of their mission.

+Imago Gestalter: *yawn. Don't like. Don't watch. Don't be such whiny little bitches. Don't you have a life to get to? I like the characters, they are fun, so move on or not. I don't care, just stop crying over silly things.
If you wanted to colonise a planet, would you just send a random bunch of jerks there?
No - you would pick and choose the nicest, well-balanced people you could. People who you knew might get along for decades of hard work.
So, yes, these are not like the crew of the Nostromo at all ... they are very positive, nice, people who stand the greatest chance of not killing each other several light years from known civilisation.
Does anyone but me like this trailer? I thought it was great.
Doggo Does Bath I like it too feller
the likes are way higher than the dislikes but people are more vocal when they hate something
Doggo Does Bath I thought it was pretty interesting.
This is not a trailer....
You're right.... its a teaser!
These short vids were way better than a movie tied together.
This scene honestly should've been in the movie.
See how it all began. Watch #LastSupper, the official prologue film for #AlienCovenant.
This the first time I've seen you guys pin a comment. While I'm at it, may you please give us more LOGAN footage? (As in TV spots or small clips).
20th Century Fox I was a little nervous during the throat scene, I thought something was gonna happen 😂
20th Century Fox I can't wait any longer!
laz2thedouble u survived 5 years to see this so just wait for another few months until this comes out
20th Century Fox The fact that you've pushed this film FORWARD, in a crowded movie release no less, tells me that this is something special. I really hope that, like Logan, this movie gets released to critics two weeks in advance and it gets great reviews.
My comment will probably go unnoticed, however for anyone that sees this and is curious about what song is playing at 2:35, the name of the song is
Man on Fire by Earl St. Clair
doll31942 thank you, i was wondering that.
Thank You! I wanted to find artist/title too :-)
doll31942 thank you thank you thank you!!!
Your comment did not go unnoticed. Scrolled past like 500+ comments to finally find what song that was. Thank you very much!
Makes you feel bad because you start to think of things to come for these people. I hope this will be a good movie.
Wish they continued with how Prometheus left off
Yuspliff Watch the film it connects Prometheus and this new crew.
Not much so. They couldve done a whole film on just Shaw and David.
I dont know.. the mystery between what happend after Prometheus is a big part of this movie which makes it even better.. also not much happens after Prometheus, you can see what happens with the prologue likes this one except with David and shaw
@@witrixnarlord6927and what about the deacon?
We were. That was the initial storyline with this trilogy. After the criticism from Prometheus how the movie didn't "share a resemblance to the Alien franchise" in terms of it's horror and action, Ridley scrapped the sequel, renamed it to Alien: Covenant, and re-write the script.
It's the audience's fault.
Here's some quotes Danny McBride Aka "Tennessee" will say in this movie.
"These aliens look like the cockroaches in my old apartment."
"Woah, I wish the girls back home rode my face like those aliens."
"Wish the girls from the middle school around the block matured as fast as these xenomorphs."
"Now I want all the girls I meet to have two mouths"
SwatKiller I can already hear it now!
LOL
*neomorphs
I think they're more like pioneers.
Building the necessary infrastructure and prepare the planet for permanent settlement. Kind of like the colonists in Aliens. They built the atmotrans and worked for decades to make the planet inhabitable. This is a multi billion dollar project. They won't invest that kind of money to get a couple of random people to a distant planet. They're the working crew not the intended populiation. So it makes no difference at all if there are homosexuals on board.
That sound mixing seems pretty rough, but I still dig the promotional material! Will definitely be checking this out
Shane Palmer Yeah I noticed that too. I remember the prologue to the Dark Knight Rises having the same issue but they fixed it by the time of release. which is what they'll do for this definitely
Shane Palmer They're still editing it...
Oh I know they are. That's why I appreciated the promotional material. Just funny they released it with poor audio. I know it'll be absolutely perfect come May 19th
What's wrong with it?
isn't it likely some of this is actually in the film rather than just promotional?
gotta love the small throwbacks to the original alien they put in. "The foods not that bad" - Parker to Kane in the original movie
James Franco saying I'm just burning up haha
How about that
James Franco is in this movie?? Just waiting for Seth Rogan to pop out with a bong
Matt D Not going to happen *start coughing and falls down and chest burst open with Seth Head bursting out* Seth:Does anyone got any weed?
He's the actor in the xenomorph suit. They went with a more "rounded" alien design this time.
Seth will be stuck to the wall in the nest just laughing.
bong!
he will be the xenomorphs smaller mouth inside the big mouth
The character interactions were actually organic and believable, well done. Roll on May!
"I'm just burning up." Wooooooooooooow... that's way more funny than it should be.
Just saw this last night. HAD to come back to this.
Honestly Tennessee and Walter are some of my favorites so far
My boy Fassbender saving the day as usual.
"burning up". oi that's a brutal pun
Hey, I love how I just found out this scene existed 4 years after seeing the movie....................
The choking scene had me going there for a second but I was like, "... That's too soon..."
That choking scene was a nice touch and also foreshadowing... I'm super hyped for this movie.
Cleo Santos He's not going to have their backs for long XDDD... since there are two types of new Bursters (one of them being a Back Burster) 😂
This was perfect. It sets things up for the film, it pays homage to the original Alien film with one of it's most iconic scenes. Even though you know it can't happen yet you still think it will, and you hope it will! It builds incredible anticipation for the film, but hopefully stands as proof this is going to be a great entry into the Alien franchise.
"I'm just burning up"- LOLOLOLOL
What really struck me watching this and watching the movie is that walter smiles in the end of this.
