Your list of timestamps alone got a thumbs up from me. Saves SOOO much time! Thank you.
Thank you so much! Just purchased my first nice drone, and you nailed just about every question I could think of! Even a year later, you still rock for this! 🤟
I went for the RC based on you (and every other reviewer I found) raving about it, and also because with the RC it's shipping at the end of May vs. ~August without it. Can't wait to try it out!
Ray, You’ve always been my go to for watch info, didn’t realize you are now my go to for other fun toys as well!! As always - great info, great channel and clever comments and insight! Keep going brother!!
Also two more things about the DJI RC
1) The Covered USB C port
I connect devices like external SSD Drive or USB C Card reader etc in host type mode, the uncovered one is for charging, you will need a proper 20 pin cable to do this ie: the 10GB/s cables, the cheaper cables just wont work.
2) The Photo/Camera Button on the right
It is a 2 position button just like a DSLR camera has the function of HOLD this button too does the same thing, for arguments sake you can focus on something close, semi depress the button till you hear the beep that its locked on target then re-frame the shot while holding that button semi depressed and finally full press to take the photo. This makes for some nice BOKAH effects or exposure locking on the desired object.
Thanks. Quite useful points!
Remark.
Bokeh, pronounced Boke, comes from 暈け in Japanese. Instead of the strange Bokah some people use.
Thanks !!! Just got mine yesterday and I’m trying to get the little things rights by watching every video I can.
Best practical review out there. Not just silly range comprasision
Thanks for the info. Really helped and answered some questions I had. I used to have the dji phantom 3 many many many years ago and loved it, not had a drone since but just ordered a dji mini 3 with rc controller and looking forward to getting back in the saddle so to speak. Thanks.
wait, so the remote without the screen has a longer range than the remote with the built-in screen ?
Excellent video! Very detailed. Definitely answered questions I've been trying to figure out about the RC Remote that are no where on the spec sheets. -Have a blessed day! 👍🏻
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this comprehensive review. However, small remark: the hyperlapse way points scenarios CAN be recorded and replayed as many times you want over time. You tap on it and name it the way you want. I recorded the same hyperlapse scenario about 20 times along a 12 months period in order to shoot the progress of a construction in my neighborhood, and did a final video using all the rushes….
Thanks - very good catch!
Absolutely love these type of video's. Going beyond the specs and into the details
Thank you. Even the sales man didn’t give me this kind of detailed information.
So Helpful! Thanks Ray! I've been a fan/sub for quite some time. Being an air2s owner I'm super happy to hear your take on the compatibility with that bird as well as learning that it is likely we will be able to download 3rd party apps, HUGE. I like Maven and it is very useful, GPS follow me, waypoint missions and more! Please share more on any info achieving that as it become available. Ray, I urge you to try Maven. I've got the air2S or Mini 2 up 50m over and behind me, set "auto Pilot," on the app and tucked the N1 in my jacket. I took off down all kinds of MTB trails. With GPS it is so nice to just keep it well above all tree tops, no constant view needed but still a safe and a cool view. Never had an issue. It has cable cam function with subject tracking. . . and more, lots more. It is not perfectly shot, jerky especially close but reliable, easy to clean up in post with a stabilizer. The drone always shows up a couple miles down the trail positioned, relatively, where I left it. . . ! I can't believe DJI doesn't have that. . . these days, used to. . . I make epic adventure videos, light, fast, technical scrambles and climbs on big mountains and desert venues. Some MTB in there too. . . if you ever need any big epic drone shots I'd love to set you up or with info too, been flying just under 15K feet a few times! Your info and testing is very useful to me, wind! Like knowing I'll likely be able to just take this RC with 2 drones, on my longer trips saving me weight and phone setup for the Air2S with N1. . . Awesome! Please come visit, as an athlete I know you will be impressed and enjoy. Two warnings, don't be afraid of heights and I only use drones in about 2/3s of my trips due to wilderness area restrictions. . . always have an i phone, GoPro and often 360 cam though. . . hope to see you and chat. . .
Dji owes you for all of this. You are a legend.👍🏾
Engaging from start to finish. Fantastic video, mate.
Nnever is a man more straigth to the point then you, great video, again ! Thanx
Thanks for this video, there are so many questions out there about the DJI RC, and this video answers almost all the them. Nice job.
Thanks - much appreciated!
Great video! I also really enjoyed your beginner's guide and wind test videos.
Thanks!!! Glad they're helpful!
Great channel. Brilliant presentation. I learnt a lot . Many thanks!!!
thankyou - you had a couple of things on there that I haven't seen anywhere else and I was at wits end - solved my problem! I owe you a beer !
Very cool. Thanks fam. Gonna check out the other videos.
Found a handy little trick on the overheating drone issue. I stand it up on its butt when I’m just doing quick transfer stuff. The heat seems to dissipate better and I haven’t had that error for a couple weeks now.
Nice!!!
Really great video and very helpful - thank you very much. I was wondering about the new controller having future compatibility issues with future DJI products but it looks like that will not be an issue.
Great video packed with helpful information, thanks 👍
The cooling tip was really good to hear. I was just updating the FW on my Air 2s and it was melting after maybe 15 minutes of updating. Now I know why.
Every level of this video is Outstanding. You're awesome.
Dude this was an amazing video. Answered a bunch of relevant questions
Same
Great vid as usual. I haven't read through the comments yet, but I believe the range dropping out has more to do with frequencies used in europe than a limitation of the drone/controller. I've been out over 3km (illegal yes, but on my property). Keen to get my hands on the new rc2 version.
Excellent and very detailed video! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Super informative man. Thanks a lot!
Excellent video with loads of information..👏👏👏
Thanks for this! Just what I was looking for
Great video, I hope they fix the distance issue with a firmware update soon. Seems to be an issue with the monitor remote version
Thank you so much for all the information about the Mini 3 Pro RC
No problem 👍
You answered the most important question for me, which I couldn't find anywhere else. You confirmed for me that I could put a cheeseburger in the carrying bag that comes with the drone. 😁
Bravo! Everything is answered! Love it
super useful! seems not worth the cost having already the basic unit- not being able to directly share from the phone is a big no-no in usability
So addictive I’m going for it. Thanks for another awesome video man.
Thanks - appreciate it!!!
Awesome video. I learned a lot. Thank you.
Always so helpful! Thanks
Excellent video answered so many of my questions 😁
I recently purchased one with my mavic 3 classic, and it allows the for both the setting and saving of way points directly from the home screen. It is a little S shaped line with little dots along it, located on the left-hand side of the screen in video mode. After setting the way points, you can set the speed, starting point, and where it will go after all the waypoints are completed ex. RTH before you begin.
Yup, waypoints across the Mavic 3 lineup were added last week. Finally!
Thanks for the informative video. I do have one question: I often find myself out biking and wanting to film myself with active tracking. How to you stow away your controller while out hiking/biking/running and using active tracking? Any sort of boxes/cases or maybe some screen lock or stick lock of some sort?
I am glad i bought the RC pro. I dislike the brightness of my DJI RC. Its not bright enough for outdoor use in summer. It wouldnt surprise me if the range is also better with these external antennas. We will see when its compatible with the Mini 3. I hope soon.
Thank you for your time and expertise,,,, I have subscribed, will watch all your great videos,,,
This video clarified a lot of questions. Thank you very much for your video! Of course I will subscribe to your channel with notifications on! Cheers! 🤡
Many thanks for answering the questions :) great video!
Thanks, very detailed info. These were my exact thoughts about 3rd party apps, someone will hack it the day they get it.
I guess I will wait until someone will make a full range test with both RCs
Super-useful, thanks a lot! 💪
Thanks soooo much for this. I'm waiting dji rc for Mavic3.
Awesome review. You answered all my questions. Would you say connectivity is similar to that of a wifi (previous Dji wifi drones)? Thanks!
Awesome video! Great in depth!
To download maps you don't actually need to have the drone on.. you can get to the map (normally in the bottom left-hand corner) by clicking on connection guide, then camera view, then click the map
Dude, very informational video. One thing I want to mention. It is about your talking speed. It looks like you have a train to catch. Maybe try to just slow down a bit. Just a happy face, do what you have to do. Good video!
Turning your drone on is a must while you're caching maps into the RC? Some insist it works fine when the drone is off status. Thanks for your video! They are always helpful!
Hey Just received the DI Mavic 3 Classic and the N1 remotes is working with the Mavic 3. Had a bit of a problem getting the two to pair but after a software upgrade and after a cold reboot of the pair, they paired up and I could see my dinning room table on the N1.
Thanks for the reviews! Few regulations in the Philippines but that could change soon.
Awesome vid mate
Thanks for in-depth responses to all the questions. I’m kind of bummed that there’s no live capability.
thanks for another great video. A quick question about the bag: do you think you could fit a dslr-camera with the drone aswell as the controller in the bag? Would be convenient to have one photo-bag, and if I could queeze it in there that would be great.
thank you! we are lucky to have you!!!
Every question i had is checked. Greatly appreciated 👍🏼
Thanks - much appreciated!
Awesome video!
Good review. Range is important for me, so that the mini3 controller is not for me. Great review as usual, and yes, I'm subscribed. Why would I want to miss all this tech goodness ?
Thanks - appreciate it!
Great video and your beginners guide is invaluable for me as I've just purchased the Mini 3 pro with the RC controller. I don't get any previews though on the RC when I press album. Is there something in the settings?
Wow great, the thing I mostly concern was if the DJI RC works with my Mavic 3, good to hear that
Thanks for another informative video it was very helpful…. I had a question ??? I just ordered the Mini 3 RC Package with the Fly More Plus combo. I’m super excited but I keep seeing peoples reaction about the range on the RC controller. I’m looking to buy an extra RC-N1 control used incase the battery dies or I feel like I need more range. I keep finding good deals on the RC231 control. The RC-N1 and the RC231 seem to be identical but I can’t find anything saying the RC231 is compatible with the Mini 3. Do you know in the Mini 3 is compatible with the RC231 ???
thanks for this super helpful
As of August 23rd the range with the mavic 3 is compatible to my standard controller…I was pleasantly surprised
Quick,usefull review !!
Yes, you got to do the range test ! Please )
Great content, thank you so much!
Stroopwafel WiFi. Love it.
Thank you for the excellent review. Do you know if there's any chance DJI will enable live streaming on the Mini 3? guess I should've read more on the details before the purchase.
This is so good, thank you. Can I ask please, what would you need to screen record for? I'm new to the RC :) And what do you need the sd card on the RC for? Thank you!!
If those are 1/4 20 taps on the bottom of the remote you could just use some 1/4 20 clamp arms to attach that remote to whatever. Also range seems to have been fixed with an update.
Useful info, thanks :-)
Such a small screen and no way of connecting a decent size one (at present I use a Galaxy tab 7 fe), good honest video
What's the point of fake occusync 3 when the controller only manages 1k stable and they claim 12km
Can you confirm what the max shutter speed length is on the Mini 3 Pro? It says 2 seconds in the manual, but I have a hard time believing that because it hasn't been that low since the SPARK....
Sorry if this question has been asked, but can you use the RC controller with any of the drone flight simulators?
Great review! lots of gems! Do you know what size the thread is on the new joystick threaded posts?
Great! Excited to watch!
Thanks - enjoy the vid!
2:13 this is a hardware thing in order to make it cheaper or maybe because of parts availability. There's a small module that goes alongside the standard USB-C card that is needed for HDMI video out. The same thing happened when Nintendo came out with the Switch Lite. The Switch can do HDMI out of the USB-C port on the bottom but the Switch Lite can't because it's missing that one small circuit.
This *could* be disabled in software, but I don't know why they would ever do that
@@jawaring4367 To differentiate between the RV and the RC Pro which is a good deal more expensive. Not sure how much the RC will be when it's available separately. I'm guessing 6 to 800 bucks
Great overview ! Do you know if the DJI Mic would work to record audio while you screen record ?
Also the question, is there a need or way to perform a compass calibration for the RC? Since if you use a smartphone, you should perform compass calibration on the phone....
For the micros sd cards make sure you get a class 3 for you’re drone. Other wise you’re footage is watery, wavy like. Because it’s all 4k 60fps.. you need a good fast card.
Can you control the gimbal by pressing and holding the screen. Moving left or right up n down
Can you use the DJI RC Pro remote with the Mini 3 pro??
Thanks for the info.
Other down side for the RC (I guess) is if the screen fails or brakes you won't be able to fly the drone anymore
Yeah, though, I'd say if that screen breaks, realistically, you likely would have had the other controller in the same spot and if that screen breaks , it likely meant a pretty hard whack/fall where I'd be honestly more concerned about internal components than the screen itself.
Hey how are you? Nice video you got here. Everything sounds good for the new RC but the range its not ocusync 3 , its worst than enhanced wifi.. hope they can fix that in the near future or they have to change the transmission from o3 to Oshit 😂
YOUR GIVING AWAY DRONE I REALLY LOVE DJI MAVIC MINI 2
As expected, outstanding..
Re the range issue, as you are in the EU and flying under the CE specs the issue continues as expected. It will be interesting to see what if any issues come up in FCC land...
Also, it will be good to see a range comparison to the R1N1 RC in CE land...
No doubt, in time, Alientech and/or 4Hawks will come out with kits for extended range for the DJI RC...
He also flew in the Carribeans though
@@Airbag888 True, I don't know if country where he was in CE or FCC. Or, if he was having connection problems there.. Would be interesting to know...
In this case, I was first flying in the Dominican Republic, which as far as I know falls under the FCC side (certainly not the EU side, it's not an EU country if I was in a French/Dutch territory in the Carrib). The second test at 1,500m was in the Netherlands, thus would fall under the EU guidance. Frankly, it didn't seem to matter.
For the screen record you can use a usb c microphone and it will record you’re voice with the screen record.. look it up.
Thanks for the information. Is there a way to use the sd card in the controller rather than the internal memory? So far I have not figured out how to switch it like I did with the drone
Thanks!
So what range did you see with the standard RC controller? I’m not expecting 12kms
Thanks...you just saved me $150! 😁😁😁
Not sure if this was already asked but I wonder if the charging bay for the mini 2 and mavic Mini will work for the Mini Pro 3.
