  • Baseboard/spoil board mounting and a custom layout grid. This grid was not designed for this particular laser, but fits and functions perfectly. I did not create this grid, but the file can be found on Thingiverse.

    *Nice job Roger!* I'm actually just finishing up my review on this machine and it has passed with flying colors! I'm doing a similar waste board today. I also 3D printed feet and risers for the roller accessory as well.

      Thanks. I think this is a very good choice for an entry level laser, considering the built in options. I haven't played with the roller yet and will also be printing some risers for this laser soon. I have a new Tarantula Pro 3d printer that I've been playing with and this would be a good project for it.

      @@rogersshop Check out the Louisiana hobby guy on Tinkercad Roger. I have the exact feet and risers there if you're interested. The risers fit super snug right over the feet.

    Great! I will defenetly do this nice and useful project!!! Have you any tips for a DIY grid to cut on (and still see and use that mdf board)?

      If you are going to cut, use a honey comb board. It makes a huge difference. You will not be able to see the grid layout, but after a while you will get used to where the hex shapes are on the honey comb and use that for alignment. Just be sure to frame first.

    Hi, Roger: I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for doing them! What's been your experience with American-made lasers. I didn't have much luck with the XTool - I had to return it. What would be your recommendation on a better brand I can try? (Preferably, US or German made.)

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  Před rokem

      Even on US and German made lasers, most of the components come from China. My most used lasers are: Longer RAY5, Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro, xTool D1 (I have 2), and Atomstack.

    Nice job. Just getting started here and already have my grid burned on my board. Quick question for you though. I haven't cut anything yet, but I do have a honeycomb board for cutting. When cutting, I don't want to burn or mark up my newly created grid. What is the standard practice for preventing this? Have a spare sheet of material to put down under the honeycomb? Or should cutting not mark up the grid if setup properly?

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  Před rokem +2

      Most honeycomb boards come with a sheet of aluminum to place underneath. Aluminum foil would also work in a pinch.

      @rogersshop I gotcha. My honeycomb is still in box so I haven't actually seen it yet. Good to know.

    Hi Roger, can you suggest a source for the plastin feet shown in this video? Can I buy them from you? Great video!

    Hi. How do you raise your laser when you screwed it to your table?

    NIce video! I see on their website they sell a 10watt laser module. Any experience or thoughts on buying that? Think it was $180.

    • @rogersshop
      @rogersshop  Před rokem +1

      I also have several 10 watt lasers. If you intend to do a lot of cutting, then a 10 watt is the way to go. If only engraving, the 5 watt does just fine.
