- In a previous video we investigated what it would take to oneshot a fully geared player then proceeded to blunder on the design of a cannon meant to deliver hypersonic arrow sprays to a designated target. Well in this video we will work around the lmitations we discovered and make the ultimate anti-personel arrow cannon in minecraft.

Sadly intrcontinental ballistic arrows aren′t possible because arrows don′t move. The claymore is arguably better though, since it doesn′t require minutes of time duping enough tnt to teleport the payload instantly to its target.

i dont want the claymore near any region of mine, least of all pubic
also very interesting how stealth is EXTREMELY essencial since, if the enemy gets intel on the claymore they might just dig trenches and avoid it all together
Or a flying machine all covered up to blitzkrieg through it
But trenches will give away their position and slow them down
Either way, it’s a huge advantage
it's still successful as an area-of-denial weapon. they are forced to deviate from a conventional assault and plan an advance around the claymore, which makes them vulnerable to a counter-offensive
@@ausburnesdumbaltaccount9676 it's not very effective in actual pvp applications. you can only really use it to deny areas along the ground and in this game the most effective way to travel any distance to reach a desired target is by equipping a pair of wings and literally flying hundreds of meters over where this would be built. i'd say, unironically, that once you're dealing with endgame gear (and let's be real, the only way you're even going to be assembling this shit is when you've been playing for more than enough time for elytra to become commonplace on your server), this setup immediately becomes straight up useless. nobody is going to launch a ground assault on you. they're going to approach whatever you're setting this up to protect from the air and they have every reason to do so. flying with an elytra is 1. faster than any other form of transport absent a prepared path like a nether ice boat highway, 2. safer than any grounded travel since you're out of range of the overwhelming preponderance of damaging threats sans bows and crossbows which are STILL less effective given your higher speed making it harder to aim at you, 3. stealthier given that you can fly so high up that your playername is isn't visible until you descend.
it's more successful as a prepared trap in an ongoing fight than it is as an area denial tool, not because it's *bad* at area denial but because stationary area denial simply *isn't* all that useful in Minecraft, especially out in the open like this. even in the best case scenario where you use this as a trap to bait people into getting hit by it, there's dozens of traps you could build that are less expensive and complex
Ww1 in minecraft
Arrows are renewable, so if you built this under a mob farm, or near a skele spawner, you could build an auto-rearm feature as well.
Please don't give him ideas :(
Give him more ideas!
Well a skeleton farm requires a mob spawner or it wont be fast enough and mob spawners spawn underground where the claymore would be practically useless due to the cave geometry.

Now this is the type of minecraft videos that gets my interest. Orbital cannons, claymores and such done in vanilla. To think there were times when the most advanced warfare device was a simple tnt cannon... I wonder were we`ll be in a couple of years.
I mean, we already have teleporting TNT, Railcannons that faze through tons of blocks in a single game tick, this claymore, and the World Eater that could be weaponised as a sort of Carpet Bomber type thing XD

Cubicmetre: Builds a Hypersonic Claymore
Some guy digging beneath the ground: Im about to end this man's career
Yea
try traversing large patches of land without elytra and without being inside the claymores range, while it is defiantly possible it would take far more work, and even a flying machine would be much more limited in mobility. so at the end of the day, your either dying to the claymore, to having to do a bunch of BS to avoid dying to it
It still successfully denied an area, which is its main objective.
You can actually make these work somewhat underground with endermen in boats.
The obvious consideration being that they will only work *outside* of a specific range. Which makes it impractical for most cases.
I like how you've correctly identified area denial as the true strateigic application of technical minecraft in PvP scenarios by naming it the "claymore".

As someone quite skilled in the art of making terraformed land look natural in Minecraft, this is the kind of weapon for me. Had a base on a friend's server that went up to y 120, built within sight of my friend's base, and it took him 6 months to find it. I had hollowed out a mountain and hid the entrance using a single block waterfall that you'd have to swim up to enter a 1 block hole, open a trapdoor, and then crawl through a tunnel ~15 blocks before finally getting to the actual base. It had a futureproofed roof entrance, as well, in the event we get elytra, that was constructed in such a way that you'd only notice the entrance within a few blocks.
On another server, I built my base out of a small hill less than 100 blocks from another friend of mine. Due to the demands of progression within the modpack we were using, it still required a lot of outdoor structures, so I used his viewing angle as a reference point to determine how to hide them. One face of the base was designed to be unappealing to venture towards. Not in a malicious or challenging way, but in a manner that made it less likely to trigger curiosity in another player. It just looked uninteresting. Most of the structures were built over water, as renewable water was not a thing the pack afforded outside of flowing rivers, along with needing water for a number of crafts in general, so I built them at such an angle that you'd only notice them from the edge of a cliff alongside a nearby river. As he was built along that same river, it was also both within an alcove he wouldn't see from his vantage point and not a location he felt he needed to explore anyways. It went undetected for the lifetime of the server, to the point where he asked multiple times where I had set up shop, and didn't belive me when I said how close I was. "All I see is a hill."
"Yeah, it's near there."
"There's just the hill."
"Oh, well."

The orbital nukes only have an effective range on the order of ~10,000 blocks, cubicmetre said so himself in that video
Lag would probably make that impossible
Love how you correctly identified why we made hiding your mines a war crime with the terraforming bit.
this is weirdly practical for a redstone weapon, like orbital strike canons are fun and all but they're fairly easy to avoid, but this is an actually lethal version of those skeleton walls "unbreakinable" bases build all while being completely concealed.
the extra block of clearance is also nice, letting there be some elevation to make the trap much less obvious. main weakness is simply its complexity, probably not gonna get many folks in the field unfortunately.

Mans made a completely hidden weapon capable of firing hundreds of arrows at mach 4.
Amazing content as always. Since you mentioned Elytras 15:02; since your last video I've actually been trying to design a ground to air anti-elytra mine. The main problems are:
1. Accelerating the arrows vertically upwards requires a ridiculous amount of tnt. Is there a guide for the duper design you showed here? The only thing I can find is a 14 second demo video.
2. It's very hard to align the arrows a way they cover an area densely enough to reliably hit a player mid flight. Do you think it's possible to modify this design in a way to basically shoot upwards at a steep angle while also getting bigger area coverage?
Love ur videos
I already have a proof of concept which can do the alignment you need, only issue is the proof of concept only proved that the concept is quite flawed. As you pointed out you need an absurdly dense amount of arrows to hit something at any decent range. The claymore circumvents this by firing in a flat plane meaning you need significantly less arrows to reliably hit things. Trying to cover a 2D area however increases the performance cost enormously to the point that you will freeze the server for several seconds when firing which will likely just crash peoples clients causing them to log out before the arrows hit.
Use TNT as flak instead. There's a reason that most, if not all, AA cannons used around the world are flak cannons.
There is someone on youtube that did something like this with tnt minecarts. So not dupable and they aren't very hidden. They work tho:
czcams.com/video/Nu0CB_-JLSg/video.html&pp=ygULYW50aSBlbHl0cmE%3D
@@bable6314Then you'd need to synchronize a series of listening posts to several tnt silos in order to identify the player, direction, and then screw it up with a TNT load. Idk about minecraft but this sounds incredibly complexxdddd
Can't you fix the density problem with making overlapping mines?
As in, making multiple mines with areas they affect that overlap a lot
What a nifty little toy to use on a new minecraft server where i happen to be planed as one of the main villans.
Maybe you could have two machines pointing to each other, so there's no way to reach one mechanism without triggering the other one, even if you approach from behind. Then make a setup only the builder would know how to approach
I havent seen how the claymore is specifically designed, but wouldnt it be easier to just have 4 payloads of arrows on each side of the tnt and then blast it in all directions? bonus points if they can include all 8 surrounding blocks for an even wider coverage at closer ranges
@@PowerOfTheAsian easier would probably be just to have a random spread of arrows within one block then stick the tnt in the middle. I'm pretty sure omnidirectional mines like that have existed for a long time (though probably not as lethal as this), the advantage and point of the claymore that is the limited spread allows for concentrating the arrows
Just came from school and the GOAT posted video, happy to see another one. Love your videos.
this dude just keeps making minecraft military technology
When you talked about the slopes I got the ideia of making a “mortar-like” cannon, dlivering a payload of tnt and a ton of arrows in the air, making a massive airstrike in the player area, the only problem is getting to aim it precisely in the player area, but I think thats achievable by making specific configurations on the cannon for the specific terrain that the player is, like the claymore, but in the air!
The problem is when you go from firing the arrows along a flat plane to trying to fill an area the performance cost increases drastically. I made a cannon which can pepper a relatively small area with a high enough density of arrows to almost gurantee a hit and whenever it fires the game freezes for a moment calculating all the arrow motion raycasts

Piston Door redstoners building hypersonic anti-personelle emplacements is the Minecraft equivalent of the guys who make washing machines turning around to make the machine gun on the A-10
This is honestly such an ingenious design, great job squarekilometre! It does have a lot of limitations that could have been fixed by using the Orbital Strike Cannon mechanism (Such as it being very strictly directional, having relatively limited range, being hindered by non-flat terrain like many real life warmachines actually...), too bad arrows and TNT *really* don't like to cooperate... But aside that, this would be an absolutely marvelous design to have against ground targets. I love how satisfyingly the TNTs and arrows fire out in different velocities only to balance out perfectly at the moment of truth, and just how quickly and rapidly it can fire and reload. If anyone does a superflat ''civilization challenge'' then I hope you bust this absolute monster out!
something about this concept and the introduction to the effects of this weapon at the start of the video is so eerie.
Woah you never sieze to amaze me. You even use Matlab to design this contraption, as an engineering student who often uses Matlab, count me as impressed.
I think the word you're looking for is 'cease', which means to stop doing something. 'Sieze' is to grab hold of or gain possesion of something ("Guards, sieze this traitor!")
