Wonderful and nostalgic look back at the best 16bit computer, the Amiga.
So many fond memories and excitement when it was released.

Fantastic list. It always annoys me when people say the Amiga died off in 1993. The 3 years after saw some of the best games for the computer and the time. In our house we also had a Mega Drive/MegaCD/32X and a Super Nintendo so we were not stuck for a field of reference for 16-bit. Things only really changed with the arrival of 32-bit consoles. But lets face it, hardly anyone could afford a 3DO, Jaguar was rarely utilised properly and (outside of grey import) no-one really had a Saturn or Playstation until 1996 when all of the 16-bit machines died off at the same time.

Fun fact about Agony: Dimmu Borgir got into some legal hot water due to Sorgens Kammer on their second LP StormblÄst being plagiarized from this game. They changed that track to Sorgens Kammer II on the re-release StormblÄst MMV.

One of the first games I played for my Amiga 2000 back in the day was a game I got of a demo disk from one of the Amiga magazines. All I remember was that you controlled a slime-like creature and collected fruits and had a sort of spitting attack. Through the years I've tried to find the name of the game but search engines and even Amiga forums have always suggested one of the Putty games or Globdule. I started thinking maybe my memories of it was fuzzy, but it wasn't. The game was Fuzzball! Thank you so much for making this video and re-uniting me with one of the long lost games from my childhood.

Love the Amiga, but it just boggles the mind how they let the competition run over them in the 90’s. Maybe it was relying on proprietary hardware when there were gigantic leaps being made in the graphic an sound industries(voodoo, sound blaster) at the time.

I still have that exact plastic box to store my Amiga games in... not that fits on the shelf I have for it. It'll be interesting to see which Amiga games have yet to grace other systems yet. Given the Evercade has been dabbling in Amiga games lately, maybe some of them will pop up on an Evercade cartridge in the future.
2:58 - It was really cool of Team 17 to honour their Amiga roots with one last Amiga game, even as late as 1997. Also cool to know that it's somewhat more available now thanks to being on the Amiga Mini.
8:38 - I appreciate Amiga Power's usage of the all 100 numbers but having been able to play ATR thanks to the Amiga Mini, disagree with it receiving such a low score. I do enjoy me a good top down racer and All Terrain Racer was a blast!
10:08 - Usually when Arabian Nights is shown off, it's the same couple starting areas so it's nice to see more of the game presented here. An that opening certainly has a classic Amiga look to it.
14:20 - The thrilling speed of Roadkill is plain to see; looks pretty awesome!
19:20 - It's a sight to behold just how the concept of jumping changes when stuck to the walls. It's unusual, would take some getting used too, but seems a lot of fun and a simple spin with a surprising effect on the gameplay.
23:46 - Banshee has stuck in my head for a long time. Cool gameplay and a hilarious story. I was hoping it was going to be one of the games included on the Amiga Mini but sadly not.
25:33 - I don't know if my memories are playing tricks on me because I can't find a floppy disk of it but I swear I've played Ruff N Tumble before. A shame it's not been available on any other system since the Amiga's demise; I wonder who owns the rights to it nowadays?
32:17 - Love the insect theme and setting to the game. It's instantly distinct and hilarious contrasts with it's super anime styled box art.

Such a great point n click adventure game :) came late in the 90s. By that time, few still played that genre.

@@itsaPIXELthing i ll better wait 20 more years, maybe someone will write emulator like nestopia where i just open file and it works, without emulating all those pc mambo-jumbo creating disk, drag and drop icons, boot up disk images... And if its not so be it

  • @intellectualninjamonkey2496

You know what...in the end of the day, Amiga sucked.
I used dream about having an Amiga when I was young , during the early 90's. All I had was a NES, so I admired the better graphics and sound of Amiga.
But after many years, I realised that game play wise, the vast majority of Amiga games were awful. NES games were more fun , alhtough poor in technical comparison.
When I finally bought a SNES, I realised what combining excellent game ideas/gameplay with advanced technology can accomplish.

You're right. Somethings (and a ton of Amiga games) should remain in the past ;) Even so, these shown in this video are still worth playing today, 'cause their playability are still top notch. Also, being exclusive games, everyone should try them, even 30 years later :)

I dislike breathless, for the same reason I dislike the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon: The lack of an on-screen weapon breaks the immersion for me.

Dimmu borgir has always been sort of a joke and seen as goofy in bm scenes atleast back in the days here in Sweden they are never really respected or thought of as black metal and is always one of the bands someone that really has shit to do with the bm culture when they try to namedrop
