    Very comprehensive crash reel. I have to say that you throw some mental tricks and then when you save it, then the results are epic. The list of destroyed gear is also pretty solid. Great flying despite the crashes. I probably fly way too soft and that is the only reason for the low amount of crashes. Kudos!

    • @tooclosetothesun_fpv
      @tooclosetothesun_fpv  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for this great comment.🙏 In my experience, crashes usually occur either because you are pushing your own limits or due to bad judgement. Both of which are imperative for your own personal growth as a pilot. But the no1 most important thing is to get as much stick time as you possibly can soft or not. Fly the way you want to fly and progress will come.♥

I am not that big of a soldering fan to be honest, i see it as necessary thing i have to do to get out and fly. But boy do i love flying... I know that the crashes seems like a lot, but you got to consider that within the last 12 months i ve flown probably more than 1000 packs. When i started, there were days were i would fly 20 packs a day 😅

    Oh man. My 5" will arrive in the next week's. The avata got me hooked and now I can't wait to abuse a freestyle quad. The avata has taken so much bad beats from trees and ground but held up pretty strong. I guess I should get a hand full props upfront. Thanks for this honest compilation. Oh and great progress and impressive maneuvers.

    • @tooclosetothesun_fpv
      @tooclosetothesun_fpv  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the comment friend. Which 5'' quad are you getting? Remember that a 5'' is a whole different beast than the Avata. Gotta take it easy with your newly found power and yes you are gonna need lots and lots of props🤣 My advice would be to buy a few different props to try before you decide whats right for you. I am using different props if i fly on a cold day vs a warm day for example.

      @@tooclosetothesun_fpv ordered a iflight Nazgul evoque 5" in deadcat design with the o3 as well as a beefy charger, 6 1400mah lipos and some random stuff like lipo bags etc. I am so excited to get that beast armed and up in the air, just to squeeze it though trees and put the expensive toy with my eyes on bord at risk. I actually started somewhere around June with an mini 3 pro. This drone was so advertised and well received, I just ordered it and thought it will be an good entrance into drones. Just to realize a few days into cruising landscapes. It is nice but to be honest: boring. I got a tiny whoop. Betaflight Cetus Pro. I realized quickly how fucking difficult it will get to actually control such a device. The the avata released. I have never spend more money without a single thought than at this thing. And it held up with my expectations: I started to get used to the goggles and flying with the motion controller. That was already a breeze at a level so much above anything else I have experienced and I knew there is so much more thrill to expect. Switched to the remote controller and the slowly into getting controll over the acro mode. To be honest, I never got the hang on the sims, since they felt so far off the actual physics, it simply made no sense to me. So the avata had to take it all. And it did. It looked most times more like a lawnmower drenched in wet dirt than a sensitive bunch of high tech electronics. During the last week's, I have more and more often hit the safety features, since the avata is more a cinewhoop than a proper freestyle quad. The controller pulled the plug mid air on so many manuvers, it got annoying. I knew, it was time to move on. Do you fly for content or a living or is it also just a spare time love? For me it is a hobby that fits right now pretty well into my small time slots between 2 toddlers and work. Whenever there is a spare hour, no rain, charged batteries and not to much wind I find my self behind the sticks. Once again: Thanks for your inspiring and relatable content.

      @@LarsEchterhoff What a story! And in some ways quite similar to mine. I started in November 2021 with a cheap MJRC BUGS20 gps drone which i unceremoniously lost in the sea on the first week 🤣Then i bought a mini2 which is when i first fell in love with droning and aerial cinematography. It was during that time that i first saw an FPV video and i was like " wtf is that? thats what i wanna do!" It took me about a month to figure out how to even begin FPV and what setup i want to start with and during that month i literally lived in the simulator. I had over 40-50 hours in the sim before i first flew my 5'' for the first time. I agree with you that no sim has managed to nail down the physics but imo it is a priceless tool to build up some rudimentary muscle memory and try out new rates. I still go back to the sim to learn new tricks before i try them out with the real thing. Regarding doing this for a living, I mostly fly for the enjoyment of it but what started out as a hobby, is slowly turning into something much more 😉

    • @LarsEchterhoff
      @LarsEchterhoff Před rokem +1

      @@tooclosetothesun_fpv hehe. Yeah, there were definitely similarities. I had a question... But I recently stumbled upon a video by a guy who gave me probably a push in the right direction. Maybe you can affirm that. I have still hard times to dose my throttle and maintain an even altitude while flying near the ground. As well as not "jump" out of a split-s. I do use the DJI remote controller. That particular guy said, the sticks off the controller are rather short. So the resolution and right dose of input is hard to controll. This made totally sense to me and I ordered longer sticks since I planned to use the DJI Controller also on my upcoming drones. This is at least my current plan... Still want to keep it simple and not carry a load of heavy stuff around. The dji controller is small, easy and simple to use with the o3 system. But this is just my uneducated wishful thought on the matter. Maybe you have some hints or advices for me to share.

    • @tooclosetothesun_fpv
      @tooclosetothesun_fpv  Před rokem +1

      @@LarsEchterhoff I had this "throttle control" issue when i started ( and occasionally i still do) where you kinda bunny hop when trying to maintain altitude but i ve become a bit better at controlling it. My solution to this was to give the throttle a little bit of expo and make it a little more sluggish for the first few months before i reverted back to a linear throttle. This trick helped me a lot while i was getting more confident flying because in my opinion this is mainly a confidence problem. You are afraid that you are gonna hit the ground and you over correct and punch out more than you have to. The longer sticks could potentially help you but what will REALLY help you is simply lots and lots of flight time. Unfortunately there is no easy way out of this. What i would suggest is to find a spot with a low ceiling like an underground parking lot or a park with low trees to fly under which will force you to be more mindful of your throttle. Also try to fly 1-2 packs per session LOS cause it helps when you actually see what the drone is doing relative to your input. I hope this helped a bit, happy flying 😉

    • @tooclosetothesun_fpv
      @tooclosetothesun_fpv  Před rokem +1

      That is a tough one to answer. On average yes, crashing a carbon frame FPV quadcopter is cheaper that crashing a DJI drone but you have to do all the repairing and troubleshooting yourself. The cost of a crash can vary from a few cents if its just a broken prop, to a couple hundred if you fry the electronics. Having said that, FPV quads are built to withstand a lot of abuse 😂
