Too the devs, a bear's sense of smell is so strong it can smell food miles away. There's no way that bear at the beginning couldn't smell you. Even if you're higher up, you're also up wind.
Also - bears hibernate in winter.
@@nicholaswoollhead6830 Yes and no, to both. Recent discoveries show that hibernation is not a constant process for the duration of the winter. They actually wake up ocasionally and go hunting, or change spots. Another thing is that animals in general don't fight if they don't have to. Fighting and hunting is a risk, and taking an unnecessary is not worth while.

Its winter snow game, and guess what's missing? Snow! Everything is flat, no fluffy snow. Where is the deformable snow with footsteps!? Snow should accumulate and pile up in a game like this focused around winter. What sets your game apart from sons of the forest and the long dark?

Unfortunately this pales in comparison to The Long Dark. Sprinting through snow, sleeping in a house made of twigs and not freezing to death and the wild life is another thing. I'd rather have depth then high fidelity.
They should have to make The Long Dark but with better graphics...without touching anything else

I've gotten closer than 3:10 to a bear and have hiked nearby many. What that guy did was the worst thing you could ever do in an encounter. Lol This game will be easy peasy. Looks like fun though.

yeah, its like that with every genre. Once one game is succesful with its ideas and mechanics, others will make spinoffs until it will flood the market with crap, and then it switches genres and repeat.

This game is the equivalent to what a 10 year old thinks surviving in the cold looks like.
Any Long Dark fan will think this looks great, makes zero sense, and has almost no realism.
Crafting a base sounds awesome, but the way it’s executed looks childish and takes you out of the realism. Put this thing back in the oven…it’s not ready yet.
Keep in mind that it's still a video game. As much as we'd love to aim for the realism, we cannot make it 100% real, as this would ruin the balance of the game

Icarus was an embarrassing cash grab. They realease DLCs while still in early access turning the game into what everyone was expecting it to be. Please make sure this is more long dark than icarus! Please!

A bear would smell a human in close proximity as well as the raw meat nearby. Metal Gear sneaking mission rules aren't going to work with a bear.

Too many games out there now, games like these will come and go and fade away imo. It's unfortunate for the devs but this doesn't look like it has anything special that will make the mark that will equal the time they put into it.
