- "Dark Country" is a collaborative compilation (first of four) by various artists, published by the Extreme Music label. It's guitar-heavy country with a dark underlying tone.
I've decided to put up this album because it's simply great music that I enjoy listening. The original audio quality of the uploaded file is 128 kbps MP3. The whole album (and many others) are available for free streaming on Extreme Music's official site (links below).
Why upload something that's already available elsewhere? Well, CZcams is extremely popular, and usually the #1 stop for all music searches. My wish is simply for this music to become as widely available as possible.

Dark Country was not a gengre of music I knew existed. And I never thought it was missing in my life.
Everyone's talking about Red Dead Redemption and cowboy stuff but I think this music is just as awesome as to listening to rock. IOW it's really good just to listen to everyday everytime.
Sitting lonesome in my cabin in the deepest woods stirring into the fire. The glas of bourbon is almost empty but hey, life couldn't be better. Thanks for great mix of my favorit music.

Fantastic music. Most of them especially "Evil ways" have that sense of a Lone wolf cowboy walking down a dark neverending path.

I like how each song has a story to it and how it shows different aspects of the Wild West culture.

I´m 44 but have never heard about this music genre but I find this amazing.

dark country, dark western, gothic western.
ive also heard it referred to as "darkwoods country" or "swamp country"

About a decade ago I was camped in the dunes in Portugal, and would listen to a radio programme in the evenings called 'Coyot'. This was the music style he played, and back then it was known as 'Desert rock' or maybe 'Desert Blues'.
Perhaps Calexico was the best known early band in the genre.
Even earlier were some of the Spaghetti western tracks. Still good stuff.
Very good. Love country music. Its making more of a comeback here in the UK. Lots of folk stuff even sea shantys. Love this it's quite bluesy, bit of rock in the mix. Nice. More...much more.

I think it might make more sense to call this "Western" rather than "Country," since the songs are usually about gunslingers, the Old West, and the Devil, rather than big pickup trucks and small-town honky tonks in the South.

I cranked up the game Rebel Galaxy for the first time and DAMN!! didn't even play the game, just listened to the music! I had to look up the style because I REALLY want to be jamming to this while on my Motorcycle and found your post. Perfect. Thanks again!
its kinda frowned on to answer a 4 year old post (not sure you still get notified after so many years) but i discovered this whole new world of music through Rebel Galaxy too. Bought the game on the strength of that 'Evil Ways'. I didnt like the game... probably spent 2 hours playing and gave up on it... but it was money well spent.

Imagine being a truck driver driving down the road with 24 tones.I drove through Europe all alone,with a 460 HP Volvo truck which had an amazing sound,I felt so alive doing what i love listening to this music,not worrying about anything in this life.It's amazing,It gives me goosebumps,I love it man.I usually don't comment,but this time i had to,I never experienced this.It's the best feeling in the world i'm proud of myself.I'm only 23 i packed my bags and i left to explore Europe.Like a nomad,unshaven,dirty and stinky.I'm not here to brag or anything,but damn you should take your car put some gas in it and go on the highway an listen to this kind of music,I miss so bad trucking that i will go back trucking,I don't care if i'm going to be single for the my rest of my life,I will buy a dog and i will be on the road again.

I see lots of people talking about playing red dead redemption while listening to the playlist, but do not forget you can ride a horse or you can ride a motorcycle, but you'll be always a rider. This soundtrack fits for both.
