There is melt and pour soap you can get at craft store. Glycerin soap is meltable in the microwave. That's what melt and pour soap is made from. The correct way to "melt" the soap you are using is to mix it with water and heat it slowly in a pot.

Just wanted to comment on this because I'm a soap maker by profession. For melt and pour you need to buy glycerine soap base, it will not foam up in the microwave like your typical store bought soap, and it's very easy to color and mold. It comes in white or clear bases. It only takes about an hour to harden completely. You could also make your own but it takes weeks to fully cure and harden depending on the base oils you use. If you do this again and decide to make your own I'd read up a bit first, or you might end up with lye burns or a soap explosion lol. I haven't carved soap (other than hand trimming bars) but I would imagine that a soap made with a higher percentage of hard oils/butters would be best for that kind of thing. Now I'm curious if there's a market for handmade carving soap, I might have to make some!

    How to melt soap:
Buy glicerin soap, it's made specially for being melt, I use it to make custom soaps with molds.
You can find it in Amazon and there are two types, one that it's clear and the other is completly white.
You can add food coloring or special coloring for soap, I recomend using food coloring 'cause it's cheaper. Also this can be melted using the microweave
