- A true raw talent that could wheel just about everything and anything, from the Baja to the high banks of Daytona, give Robby a steering wheel and some tires, and he'll put on one hell of a lap.
His impulsiveness, and quickness to anger, would be the only major impedance to further success. Today, he runs the stadium super truck series, and continues his spirit of competitiveness in any ride he drives in.
Forever an entertaining talent, and one that's story goes beyond that of what statistics will tell you; this is the story of Robby Gordon. A chaotic, often reckless, Talent that was ruthless in his pursuit to win, regardless of series.
The california kid that would taken the heavy hitters of motorsport, regardless of odds.
From dirt to Daytona, forever a staple of 2000's NASCAR
Robby Gordon was playing TOCA Race driver’s career mode irl
Thunder 2004, in my eyes. just didnt care about the rival markings!
He had so much talent but Robby Gordon could never get out of Robby Gordon's way.
That's a bang on assessment. I think AJ actually said something similar about him
I won a contest and hung out with him and the crew for the day at Fontana in 2009. He’s a hell of guy in person and I’ve been a fan of his forever. He’s never afraid to tell it like it is and has never played the political game with NASCAR.
That's awesome. And yeah, spot on. Never was one to mince words that's for sure!
I’d rather live Robby Gordon’s life than almost anyone else’s.
why
Robby is an amazing talent.. Tony Stewart said it the best.. he can hop into anything and run at 90% right off... It's just that his ego gets in the way of his final 10
Paraphrased qoute
He said that on the Dale Jr download, right? I recall that. And he's absolutely right. Hell, he should know, they both raced in the Indy racing league together as well! If only robby could've kept his temper in check years sooner.. But at least he's running a solid series nowadays
@@ClumsyCardboard it might have been the dinner with racers podcast. But honestly I don't remember. So much talent.. and his feuds were amazing.. and ya sst is such a great watch
@@mikehora1615 I surprisingly haven't seen that yet.. Thanks for reminding me!
Robby Gordon was his own worst enemy. Such a raw talent but always let his ego get the best of him
Indeed, especially back then. The only person he couldn’t pass was himself. Robby was always in Robby’s way.
Extremely nice guy.
I had a conversation with him a couple years ago and he was extremely nice.
He appreciates his fans and folks he works with, and has previously, worked with. Hope to meet him someday myself.
I LOVE NASCAR AGAIN!!!!
It’s the best sport in the biz.
His downfall was wanting to drive his own cars, if he’d stayed at walker racing in CART he’d have challenged fir titles just like DeFarren did, and probably moved to a better team just like DeFarren….same in NASCAR, just drive for RCR…could have been a champ in anything if he’d just focused on driving.
Pretty much. If he just stayed the course for more than a year, even during a slump, it'd pay dividends. As someone else said, the biggest thing in Robby's way was Robby
Aj Foyt crying while trying to talk is hilarious
High quality content!
Much appreciated, Jarrett! More like it to come!
definition of a driver with Raw talent that never could take off and have success in NASCAR. Robby could dish it out but NEVER could take it back on the Race Track when Drivers Raced him hard and tough the exact way Robby Raced the entire field.
I use to always tell my Dad Robby Gordon was always sticking his nose where it didn’t belong.
Dale Jr said it best. He didn’t know what he was doing out on the race track. Racing and holding up the Field while racing with the lead pack while being a lap down. Thats the type of Racing i remember out of Robby Gordon. Always just in the way he was. He was not racing to win races for his race team. He was just out there to raise hell and create chaos. Jimmy Johnson said it best it was ALWAYS someone else’s fault and he was always crying up a river like he always does. Gordon was ALWAYS a Field Filler in my opinion
Spot on. I was a huge fan, but it always really bothered me that he could he never get out of his own way.
Has more career wins than either of you so hard to call him a field filler
@@RAID3R63 He was far from a field filler. In fact, he is one of my personal heroes. Ironically, so was Tony Stewart. So it was always an interesting experience to see those two fight it out to say the least. Generally sided with Robby though.
I was at Louden when he won his first.
What a day that must’ve been!
He started a burn out in turn 4 all the way past turn 2. Filled the grandstands with smoke.
@@ethantracy337 That does sound like Robby. Then again, I don’t think Childress wanted to take those junked tires home anyway
Keep up the videos!
Thanks for the support! More to come.
Robby is a real racer, and wouldn’t conform like NASCAR requires its drivers to. NASCAR pushing people like Robby out is part of their own downfall.
And always did it his way.
I honestly think robby would of kicked tonys rear end
With all due respect to both, I also think Robby would have kicked his ass
Do you think Ross Chastain is the new Robby Gordon?
It’s an interesting point.. I’m not sure if he is the new Robby, but he’s certainly on his way! Perhaps Robby minus the temper?
@@ClumsyCardboard I can agree on that.
I wouldn’t say that. Ross temperament isn’t what Robby’s was. In a way Chastain drives a lot like Dale Sr
@@hunternixonfishing2500 Good point. I hadn't thought of that.
Ross is Ross. I can't compare him to any past driver because they all had their own driving styles. Ross has his own.
