      Cuz old neil knows more than that...he knows it had nothing to do with rejection. I wonder if any of his songs were wrote by Manson.

    Charlie could have been a great singer, a spokesman for his generation, the man had talent. I guess he was ahead of his time.

      He was too undisciplined and erratic, probably couldn’t work well with producers to help shape his music into radio-friendly hits. Also to really make a name for himself would have taken work he probably was unwilling to do. Charlie didn’t know how to work and keep a disciplined schedule. Recording and touring wouldn’t work out if he and the girls were gonna keep dropping acid on a whim and running around the woods chasing shiny things.

    One reason why this is such a great song is that Neil probably identified with a lot of the Manson family's stripped down back to nature ethos. "Well I heard that Laurel Canyon/ Is filled with famous stars/But I hate them worse than lepers/And I kill them in their cars." I bet Neil sang that with such venom because he despised the shallow fame con as much as anybody. "I got bored and left them there/they were just dead weight to me" he would sing five years later.

    hey richard, the only setting is 360p. And "for what its worth" I have my settings set to automatic up or down - best available I guess. Anyway, some videos I love have been dumped since the climate change here, (what climate change, where).. It wont play on any setting.. there is some other speed settings here, 2.0, down to 1.5, also out. Hey I hope 'its only my pc' but lots of people are running away from this whole landslide of loss. I miss the friends list a lot. It might return//thanks

    Except.... As has been reported in Schreck's Manson Files Charlie wasn't rejected by the music industry. In fact, right before Charlie screwed everything up by going after Lotsa' Poppa Melcher had every intention of marketing Charlie as the next big thing. Futhermore, how can it be said Charlie was "rejected" when he'd been recorded twice, once by Wilson, and the other time being backed by the Wrecking Crew.
    People really do need to learn to separate the Helter Skelter wheat from th Bug's chaff.

      I consider OUATIH a piece of speculative fiction or maybe alternate history. It was done quite well and was one of my favorite films of that year.

    • @harryanderson7282
      @harryanderson7282 Před rokem

      Wasn't a cult at all. Charlie didn't control anybody. The murders at Cielo dr were the work of Watson and Krenwinkle who were looking to get even with Frykowski for burning them on a drug deal. As for the LaBiancas, the wife was the area's acid wholesaler and the husband a couple of hundred thousand dollars in debt to organized crime.
      So much for Helter Skelter.
