  • Went on what I thought would be an uneventful ride to Loomies near Alton!
    Ramblings:
00:00 - Off to Loomies for an uneventful ride out - I wish.
01:30 - Using the Satnav today.
06:49 - My GoPro has GPS
    8:40 - I don’t like the rain
    15:32 - I don’t speed (generally) 😊
    26:00 - I don’t like being here - Petrol Station Chaos
29:50 - Pulled up by the police!
32:48 - Well that was very expensive

In my day being a biker, I would have issued you a VDRS, vehicle defect retification scheme. It gave the motorist /rider the opportunity to sort the issue out but they had to get it signed off by an mot station which cost £30, so effectively it was a kind of fine.
You have at least been gracious enough to accept you did not comply. I remember once when Sussex Police issued a ticket to every non conforming plate on Brighton seafront, hundreds were issued ,it was the Ace café to Brighton run.

Got pulled at the Loomies lights about 3 weeks ago, by a bike cop in the pub car meet opposite, fortunately no fine just a bollocking, which shows they dont have to fine you, he also told me that when I go home, he was going to check I dont deviate on the anpr cameras, which also suggests these plates can be read, I'm sorry I feel this is money raising at its worst, some cars are really taking the piss too, but never seem to be pulled, I have also heard that they are clamping down on noise in the same area, its all to do with the complaints from nimby's, the world is being homogenised while people are being stabbed, cars stolen, etc, I had my car stolen, with no visit from the police, and a call 10 days later saying they could of tracked my car, they're prioritising is all wrong 🙈😡🏍

I, got pulled over for number plate once, several years ago. Only cost me £10 to put correct plate back on bike and get an Mot place to confirm it. Then send confirmation to police. Copper who pulled me over stated there were 3 options open to me. When I said I'd take the cheapest, least hassle option, I also said who wouldn't chose that option? Copper said they don't always give everyone they stop all 3 options. At the time I guessed that meant if you are mouthy or leery to them, who knows? Was on an artery road to a bike rally at the time. Maybe the copper was just in a good mood? Maybe the law has changed since I got stopped?

They’ve also installed average speed cams at a cost of nearly £800k on the A32 & A272 and I think you may have mentioned the noise cams as well. Hampshire is not bike friendly as far as the local constabulary are concerned. If I had a camera running the last thing I would do is offer to turn it off, it won’t influence the outcome but it does force the copper to stay honest, and you may get off on a technicality- long shot but sometimes worth it……nice bike btw👍

Why did your number plate not “conform?” I would suggest there’s another reason the officer had cause to pull you over, perhaps your riding style maybe. Failing to stop at the road junction, riding over the mini roundabout, a little weaving, a tad over the speed limit, none of these are a major issue but perhaps he wanted to check you out and found something easy and simple to justify the stop.
I have a few riding friends whose plates are made up of the correct size letters and numbers, nearly the right spacing but on reduced size plates overrall and without the suppliers details. Regularly stopped when out in groups and providing everything else is in order and the conversation’s civil, they don’t bother with a ticket, just a lecture.

@@iwb316 I understand 'the attitude test' but there is still nothing to do with being polite and reasonable that has anything to do with asking the officer if he wants you to turn off the camera in my opinion, in fact it's 100% safer to simply continue to record the interaction 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @iwb316
      @iwb316 Před 20 dny

@@kevindarkstar It has everything to do with being polite, you might have the right to record someone but that doesn't stop that person you are recording feeling you are being antagonistic (their right). It's the same as when getting stopped to switch off the engine, get off and put the bike on the center stand and remove your helmet. These are words of wisdom given by a police instructor who ran the local RAC-ACU training scheme where I learnt to ride. Attitude goes along way, anything you can do to diffuse the situation is a bonus for you, as they are more likely to go lenient on you. Remember they can start checking the rest of the bike to see what else they can add if they want.

You sound like you think there should be some tolerance for fake plates! It is not tolerated because ANPR systems, traffic cameras and other people who may have a legit reason to id a rider, such as following an RTA, road rage or damage incidents…Have a legal right to know the perpetrator and we can’t have thieves or thugs disguising their id with impunity to get away with skullduggery and chaos.

I hate them so much that I bought a 5 digit number off the DVLA......I can now legally have a much smaller plate.
You can do the same with 6 digits......only one firm I know of will supply they as they understand the plate law........they give a certificate to explain to the policeman if he is not fully up on plate sizes....lots arnt.....but the tend not to be traffic bobbys.
Do you realise you didn't STOP AT THE STOP LINE AFTER TURNING AROUND.....thats an endorsement buddy.....as is speeding.....your doing 80mph a short time after leaving the cop......max speed on a single carriageway....60mph.....that 2 endorsements in 1 min......your not doing very well Stobo......you going to loose your licence at that rate.
