    I'm glad someone's being honest about the overlauded Moleskine product. Rather like Toblerone, they are for airports only.

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  Před měsícem +2

      I agree. I have used lots of Moleskines over the years, but never again, sadly. There are too many vastly better notebooks and sketching books. I personally really like Seawhite of Brighton, who make excellent sketching and watercolour journals. I have several of their smaller (slightly larger than A6) and larger A5 versions. They're great!

    Hello and welcome back, my friend! Good to see you again, and good to see you doing well, albeit a bit ridiculed by your sweet puppy hound 😂 I do hope your knee hasn‘t been hurt too much? I twisted mine once and it took a bloody minute to get back in full working order. All the best to you, Mike!

      Thank you kindly - all recovered now, thank God, Mike. It took from Saturday till today, though. It's a weak knee from an accident some years ago, but it's still the little bear's fault!

      That's the plan! Although the big one here is Raybarrow, which after all the rain this year is going to be a filthy mess! And I must get hold of some new walking shoes. These old ones are almost slicks now!

      @@writerlywitterings Well you have interesting dogs, an interesting occupation, live in an interesting house in an interesting village & countryside, find the most interesting little gadgets as companions to your interesting fountain pen and notebook collection, author the most interesting books, produce interesting video content, and yet remain humble and I think very approachable. More to come! It's purely the time involved in recording, setting up the scene, writing a script (I do, honest!), and then going back and editing. When on writing deadlines, that gets to be just impossible. However, I'm hoping to be back more often in the future.

  • @GrooDWanderer

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  Před měsícem

      Yes! Thank you! Although I need a lot more exercise - that is the issue with deadlines on books and having a pup who can't walk too far with her young bones! Hoping to get out a bit more very soon, though.

    It is good to see you again. Being flat footed and "knock kneed" I have some issues with walking, especially on terrain that is not level. I have found myself slipping and falling. I have had to get special orthotic inserts foru shoes that have slip resistant soles. Seems to work well.

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks for sharing that - the daft thing is, I can dance Morris and other things - I'll have to put CZcams links up before long - but walking, on the local hills, sometimes you have a slight slip on loose ground, and things go haywire!

    six pans is perfect for the "traditional" split palette of two red-yellow-blue combos - one cool and one warm. Can't wait to see how it works for you!

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  Před měsícem

      I agree with you - but I am probably going to use a couple of blues, couple of yellows and a light red and burnt umber. For blue I've got Ultramarine and Winsor, for yellow, Winsor and raw sienna. I'll see how I get on, but for Dartmoor, I think I can get all the greens, greys and browns I need from those six. Then I'll be considering an 8 colour and 12 colour palette with the tiny little colour pans.

  • @sunnycharacter
    @sunnycharacter Před měsícem +1

    Brilliant little travel palette. For six paints, I’d recommend 3 cool and 3 warm primaries. You can mix endless shades.

    Replace that Moleskine with the same size softcover Stillman and Birn sketchbook. There are several different paper choices and either vertical or horizontal format. I would suggest the smooth Epsilon or Zeta for fountain pen drawings.
