    This is the best crab picking Video I have ever seen. Military precision and well explained. Much better than all the celebrity chefs videos I have seen. Well done!

    Agree with Darren, much better than celebrity chefs. Down to earth, straight to the point, no faffing about, by a man that knows what he’s doing! Many thanks.👍

    Hi My friend
    I know you made this clip 4 years ago, but i bought a large crab from Whitby today and followed all you instructions.
    It worked amazingly with no shell or anything, strangely i love the brown meat, it has a deep lovely taste.
    Thanks so much
    Chris.

      Glad the video was of some use to you. I like the brown meat as well but some people find it too strong a taste. Enjoy. 🦀

    I didn't realize you got so much me out of one crab. It would only take one crab to feed 1 to 2 people. Amazing. I wish we had crabs like that and America.

    The best video I've seen on doing this as it takes advantage of the weak points and joints rather than smashing everything to pieces

    Absolutely the best picking video i have seen. I will be eating these in a couple of weeks and have finally been shown how to not fill my crab full of shell.

    This is the best method I have seen and so easy to follow, tried this and no shell in the meat.

    Couldn't agree more with the comments below, best demonstration by far of dressing a crab, learnt a lot from this. 👍

    Great Video Darren 👍 I’ve been picking these for ages and still learnt lots. I might even be able to break the 30’ barrier now if I leave the wine alone 😂
    One question? Any differences with spiders or just a heavier knife ??

    • @superbus99
      @superbus99  Před měsícem

      Picking out a spider crab is very similar, especially the carapace part, but the Shell is very thin and fragile so you have to be careful when cleaning the leg sockets. The flavour is lovely with a sweet meat generally.

    Well done. I was wondering the meat in the shell can you now twice bake it, or do you just use it on toast? Just asking because it seems the crab would go cold in the time to get all its good meat done.

      You can use the crab meat in other hot dishes after you have cooked picked and refrigerated the crab meat. Try my baked crab recipe.

      Or just make a delicious crab sandwich using some of the brown meat from the shell as the butter on the bread.

    Best example I've seen on CZcams. How long would you cook a 1kg crab?

    • @superbus99
      @superbus99  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Richard.
      I normally cook a male crab for about 17 minutes. I would bleed the crab or you can put it in the fridge for an hour then put it in warm water bring to the boil for 16-17 minutes then rinse with cold water.
      If it’s a large female I give it a bit longer, say 18-20 minutes. This is because if they have any roe inside the shell, this can be sticky and black if not cooked out. It doesn’t look very nice when you open the crab.

      @richardturner5651 Před 3 lety

      @@superbus99 I've been giving them a hour in the freezer to sedate them and cooking for about the same time as you do, but sometimes I get a problems with meat sticking to the shell. Thank you for the advice I will try bleeding them instead.
