      Yeah, that f*&$ term.
I HATE IT So Much. There is NO SUCH THING AS THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY. History is the research of an event that combines both science and art, since unless you have a time machine we are mostly running on educated guesses (unless you are blinded by an ideology/agenda) of how things were based on what evidence we do have from that time period.
That however is hard since people are bias by nature. But, the other reason I hate this phrase is that I'm sure the losers in History thought they were on the "Right Side of History" as much as the Victors did; only for events to play out differently.

Mainstream media have not been "journalists" since the 90s, Kotaku was never Journalists, they were the rejects that failed out of Journalism, and they are the same type of people who were running the harassment against Pikamee in the first place, they just use the "legitimacy" of their platform to downplay, misinform, reflect, project, and misrepresent or straight out cover up the actions and faults of their fellows doing the dirty work, they're one in the same. In short most Mainstream Media and Kotaku as well as almost all of the other digital "rags" are Propaganda machines, bent on spreading the message and ideas of their political and societal beliefs, at any means necessary including sacrificing the truth, disguised as "journalism" or "Journalists".

Vtuber graduations under non-disciplinary circumstances are always meant to be the streamer leaving in a positive way since the circumstances behind them are not negative in the sense that the streamer was forced out. This is the case with Pikamee and I really despise how the article seems to be implying that it was framed this way unnaturally. She and VOMS want it to be positive because it was her choice and because she had been such a huge part of VOMS, they wanted to send her off in the way she deserves. That's really all there is to the "positivity" aspect of the graduation and the fans are in agreement. I was in the chat of her free talk this morning (morning for me) and it was 100% positive like the fan base was all in on some agreement not to bring down the mood, like we were working together with Pikamee herself to make it a great stream, which it was. The only Vtubers who go out in a negative way are those who do things bad enough to warrant a negative graduation or termination. Even Sana and Coco, whose reasons were not necessarily positive, went out in a positive way.
Funny how Kotaku left out those videos that show evidence against the side they have quite obviously taken, perhaps they are only saying they watched, a common Twitter tactic to try and strengthen an argument. Also, no, to my knowledge she has never even brought up trans people as a topic in any stream or prerecorded content. She just wanted to play the game, and lacking the messed up sense of right and wrong present in the hate mob, saw no issue streaming or playing. She just wanted us to be there to enjoy it with her, but apparently it was too big an ask to be allowed to do that in peace.
It's actually not hard to get a sense of the opposition when people said her canceling it was her learning and becoming better, absolutely untrue since fear is not a good teacher, it only serves to invoke a reaction at the moment that will not necessarily be adhered to after the moment has passed. At this point it is obvious whose side Kotaku is on, the hate mob's. As usual for their 'journalistic integrity,' or should I say lack thereof, shown time and time again. Also, some of those videos they seem to be ignoring the existence of do show the harassment as best as can be shown on this site without breaking any rules. There are VERY few "militant" fans in her fan base, I saw maybe three in her graduation announcement, a point where tensions and negative emotions directed at the hate mob would most definitely be higher. I literally talked them down from it to at least considering holding off until she is gone so she doesn't have to witness it, though I am no professional negotiator and I have my doubts about how effective I was. Then you once again take her next actual stream from this morning into account, ZERO fans like that, at least none in chat. It was all positive and directed at giving her the best time we could.
Yeah, Kotaku actually got something right for once, she IS becoming a martyr, not that she wants to be. This is the consequence of dogpiling an innocent streamer with a large following for playing a video game. Even if Silvervale specifically tells fans not to, don't be surprised when that fan base sees her as one as well. Things have gone beyond boiling, this has already reached a point where the antagonized may not be so inclined to just ignore the antagonists. If Kotaku really cared, they don't and are using trans people as fuel to stoke the flames pretty blatantly here, they would put their money where their mouth is and actually do things to help trans people.
As far as her graduation, the statement DOES NOT free the guilty from their guilt, what they did was wrong even if she had set out to graduation on the very first day of the year or even some time last year. It does not matter when this was set in motion. The guilt still stands in full for the actions taken regardless of the things that happened after.
As far as the damage control aspect, I am slightly inclined to believe it was indeed damage control over a sudden decision because of previous official word, but I am mostly inclined to believe it is not. Also, this was Gyari we're talking about, he's not the rep of the company in the sense that his only job is to make statements, he is literally the head of the entire operation. VOMS also isn't really a company in the sense of Hololive, more like Vshojo, a group of Vtubers who do their own thing with another person or group of people providing support in some things.
As for the one who said the thing about believing Pikamee herself, she literally hasn't said how long this has been in motion, the ONLY word she herself gave was the announcement. We can only believe what we are given, if only one thing has been said on an aspect, then that is all we can believe. While there is a discrepancy between the clip and the text in how sudden this is, that is the only part where we have multiple points in opposition. Anything Pikamee has said so far is still in line with the rest.
Kson never directed any comment at the Pikamee fan base. Her comments were completely generalized, not aiming at anyone. She was correct, 100%, in what she said. Vtubing is not about skin, not about language, not about culture in the sense of appropriation. It is about having fun with hundreds or thousands while behind an animated face, sometimes for protection, sometimes for not wanting to show their real appearance, sometimes just because of the aesthetic of the anime character on the screen.

Of course the company will talk about Pikamees graduation with her even before she ever wanted to graduate, because a company needs to plan how to do that graduation in a positive manner, as MARUI says correctly. A graduation unlike the firing of Rushia is meant as a nice sendoff like with Coco. And it takes time to plan that. So I'll bet that the major companies have made plans and also merch for that occasion already for many of their talents. Because the decision of a VTuber to end it can come swiftly. And you dare have preparated at that moment.
That's why for me the statement of Gyari just reads as. "We talked with Pikamee about how she would like to have her graduation", whenever this may occur. And then when in February she had enough because of this hate mobs (and don't forget, there are sources saying that she received death threats via DMs and mail, which we cannot see, we only see the open tweets!), and unfornatunally VOMS is not such a big company as Cover that could threaten any harasser with lawsuits to stop the bullying (a reason why nobody goes after Pekora, they know that Cover would sue them into seppuku)

They are investing a lot of money there, made a lot of deals just to set up a branch there, even already have a number of VTubers running under their brand. And they burnt it all, for Haachama and Coco. That is an absolutely huge decision they make- any other company will comply to the demand and cut off anything that hurt their China audience- Cover chose to leave the China market forever.

This has been happening for awhile, but now that they've done it to a large enough group, they can't hide it anymore- I've known since 2012 that something like this was bound to happen- the 'Community' that has been to protect good people and those trying to be recognized as human beings and those trying to live their life were doing stuff like this, and nobody was acknowledging it. Maybe I was sheltered from the worst of bigotry, because I did not see it where I lived- I saw people living their lives as best they could, no prejudice around them, but when I actually connected with people online, who did I see attacking them? Not bigots, but the people from the 'Community' they should've gotten support from.
A close friend of mine was interested in a girl and she asked me for advise on it (I am not LGBT, but I have friends and a girlfriend who is), because she was scared of going to the community because they claimed being Bi wasn't 'good' enough. I knew right then and there that this so called 'Community' wasn't protecting its people, it was harming them, and its why I do not consider myself an Ally- LGBT people as individuals, I care about. I have friends, I have a brother who is transitioning, I have people I love and adore who are LGBT, and I would gladly take a bullet for every last one of them.
The Community? F*ck. No. It is a cesspit that has turned its back on the very people it vowed to protect and completely betrayed its founding principles, and this time? They can't rug sweep it. They REALLY kicked over a hornet's nest this time. It deserves scorn. They don't even realize the damage they have done- this was a WORST possible case scenario, because people are going to look at this situation, and whenever they see an actual existing LGBT problem or grievance, those that WOULD be supportive will turn their back, out of disgust or shame, those that WOULDN'T be supportive will point towards this and use it as justification. This has done more damage to those innocent people that DO suffer without support than anything they could've done.
