ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. i have the Spain and Netherlands releases from 13 years ago and are the uncut versions. im guessing warner used the german masters. i think this deluxe edition might look sharper like the streaming episodes in hbo that here in argentina are also the uncut versions. Except for Try To Remember. I believe this set comes with the original episode uncut except for the alternate opening scene. .

Just got it! Watching the first episode the picture looks great for dvd. According to the booklet the episodes are complete except for the episode "try to remember" the bonus disc has a feature with the creators and commentary on 4 episodes with alf and producer Tom Patchett.

Honestly, if I were remaking ALF, I'd put the alien outside, wandering purposelessly all over America, making jokes and snarky comments about anything and everything. For example, ALF reads hateful tweets, and he says, "These people melt faster than a vegan in a steakhouse."

i have this dvd set but its not a truly complete collection set for some reason its missing the rare original un-aired pilot that's on the old lions gate alf season 1 set on disc 4

Man im thinking in getting this even if this doesnt comes with spanish subs. already have the warner european release from 2006 and it has the uncut versions as well but this i hope look better. i wonder if the master for the project alf dvd is the same used for the blu ray release. that looks beautiful. also its tempting for the animated series. I wish they release the vinyl record as a solo.

No it loosely explained what happened Alf is being held by the Alien Task Force the general wants to execute him whatever and it's explained that the Tanners just pissed off and moved elsewhere

Short version, these DVDs should have several additional minutes of footage per episode that were missing from the previous US DVD releases, as well as the Saturday morning cartoons and the Project ALF TV movie. (A company called "Liberation Hall" is releasing a Blu-Ray version of Project ALF, but for some reason they idiotically cropped it from 4:3 to 16:9. Hopefully Shout Factory hasn't done the same thing.)
Longer version: When ALF ended it's NBC network run, it was then shown in syndicated reruns. At this point, they cut out scenes to make room for commercials. The previous DVD sets for some reason used these edited versions rather than the original uncut versions that aired on NBC.

Are the episodes complete on your DVD collection?
I bought a season 1 set long ago and they cut certain music scenes like Alf and Jody listening to the Chipmunks or Alf singing 'Come fly with me', so I lost interest in further releases.
@@ferocious4561 in that case, I might have to get the new release with the full episodes. Not to mention it comes with the movie and the cartoon as well as cool merch.

The previous DVD set released by a different company used edited versions, but these are supposed to be the full versions.
So it includes the rest of uncut episodes that the German DVD had than what the Liongate version had which cut most of it?
Has all uncut episodes except "Try To Remember" due to the editing being done on the master tape and the trims were discarded.

@@faithslayer202 The master for the "Try To Remember" episode of ALF was edited so we get the Fall 1988 version without the electric mixer and any mention of the electrocution part.

The uncut episode of that appears on the Alf Files Dvd I have both versions of that episode the one they changed it that he slipped and hit his head in the bath to explain his amnesia and the uncut one where he electrocutes himself with the hand mixer

So disappointed. I expected after all these years to see this finally making its way to blu-ray as it should be. But sadly, Shout Factory let this life-long ALF fan down. Sad.
It was shot on tape i believe, so it's not the same as taking film scanning it and putting it on Blu-ray.
They've been able to restore and release older shows and movies, much older than ALF. Believe me, it's possible.
@@kenniecombsjr2618 Yes, like example I've seen Our Gang being restored. But those were on film. From when I checked last, Alf was on tape.
I just got the new set and am watching The episodes now they are cleaned up good and looks great on my 4K tv.
I just always worry with that many discs, especially not on blu-ray, that I will always encounter scratches. Plus, Shout Factory and their products have gone downhill in that way over the past few years. For that kind of money, it's sad really. Otherwise, I love their content they put out.
Regular DVD? Bleh.
The master copies are literally in DVD quality
