I am glad the "Canadian Air Force" didn't decide to drop a bomb on camera. Unfortunately, I can't get there to see it live, so I will be watching the live stream. Take care you beautiful lady.
They did. We decided not to air that part.
@@BattleshipNewJerseyI'd like to apologize for the visit from two of our finest. I am glad there were no casualties among the workers.
🤣@@BattleshipNewJersey
@@BattleshipNewJerseyLOL rip camera. damn you canada!!!11
I literally laughed out loud at this and almost spit out my lunch!!! 😂
Can't be there, but I'll be singing "Anchors Aweigh" with y'all as she departs!
What a great ship. I was aboard the U.S.S. Long Beach (CGN9) in the battle group with New Jersey. Got to see her fire all 16" guns at the same time, 1000 yards behind her....What a sight.
"if some boaters get drunk and come in and start messing with the mooring lines"
This is the second time I have heard Ryan fretting over this exact scenario.
Some Peoples idea of "fun" is saddening / infuriating
There were some shenanigans done to the USS Ling that resulted in her sinking at the dock.... not sure it was ‘drunk boaters’ or just maliciousness but it’s probably on his mind
Probably because it is what he does in his spare time!
The CG will be around
@@oneparticularharbor144Urban explorers sunk the Ling iirc
I'm hitting the road tomorrow morning at 7:00 in the morning to be there at the pier by 10:00 and be in person for the whole ceremony. I can't wait to see it!
You can go over the speed limit to get there faster and rumors has it that the experience is more enjoyable with a big bottle of liquor.
I hope you enjoy the experience. As Ryan has said “ We don’t know when the next time a BB is going into drydock! A friend in Galveston TX was going to see the USS Texas in dry dock.
I can confirm everything you said. I actually did this while passing through a school zone. Two weeks later I’m still scraping kids out of the grill. Apparently law enforcement is “looking for” me? Weird.
I'm surprisingly excited for this process. I guess the Texas wetted my appetite, and I'm a big fan of the New Jersey. Good luck with all the work!
All I'm going to think about today is that there is a Battleship on the move. I love it.
Uss Iowa just released a video showing them dropping her anchor. Good timing.
im so happy this old girl is getting the attention she deserves. it'll be magical to see her under way (if not under her own steam) again
I’m planning on watching the BB-62 ship off tomorrow morning. I live in Mechanicsburg pa. There is a lot of military stuff in my area. And also plan to do a dry dock tour. 👍
Our submarine tender, the U.S.S. Holland, was med moored much like that down at the naval weapons station in Charleston , S.C. In the 80’s. We once took off for a two week cruise, and there was a dredger working in the area. When we got back, we grabbed the spring lay that held our mooring chains. We pulled them up only to find that both of the heavy wires had been cleanly cut by the dredger sometime while we were away. Spent the next two nights in freezing temperatures with a floating crane, putting on new wires, and lifting both chains up and inspecting them link by link. 🥶🥶🥶
I'm hoping you'll have coverage of some of the more interesting procedures being done while in drydock. Such as, for example, removal of sea chest cover plates, inspection of what's underneath, and then eventual recovering of them. Some of this stuff will be somewhat interesting to observe.
This is the only channel I watch ads on because I want the new jersey to have money!
Currently staying in Philly for 2 days so I can see the move tomorrow. So excited!!
Glorious time to be alive!
You are now in command of a battleship. Huge responsibility. This is what we live for. I love ny command it is everything.
*Shift colors!*
Ahoy!
Ahoy!
Make preparations for getting under way. Single up fore and aft!
Set the underway steaming watch. On deck, section one!
Good luck from Melbourne, Australia. I took my family to the ship on December 30, 2023. She is the third Iowa Class I’ve taken my son to. Good luck with the move and maintenance….
I live in Texas, I will be watching on CZcams.
My Drydock tour was booked weeks ago for 11:00 A.M. on April 6th. I am hoping for good weather for photography as I wish to personally document this historic occasion.
When I was a kid in 1982ish my grandfather took me on a tour of that battle ship when Ronald Reagan had it recommissioned in Los Angeles, before it has been retrofitted. I remember them having to use a car jack to lift a stuck door to get it to open. glad to see it's being saved
I'll be watching her from the water onboard the Spirit Of Philly!
Happy Birthday Ryan!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
We will be on the Spirit of Philadelphia!
Ryan, and the team that have worked so hard to accomplish this event, deserve accolades. I wish could be there, have toured the NJ (and mighty MO) and enjoy the youtube channel. I have 2 deceased uncles that served on NJ (not simultaneously) and I grew up in NJ outside Philly… so I will be there in spirit. So excited to see the video.
I'll be watching the livestream for the move, but have had my drydock tour booked since the day it went live on the website!
I'll be there for the move and the dry dock tour. When I visited the New Jersey, I was amazed at what great condition and how well maintained she is.
This is pretty cool for those who haven’t spent their lives around the Navy!
Good Luck with the move of Battleship New Jersey. I'll be watching from Australia via the Livestream. 👍
Happy birthday Ryan
As a Canadian I deeply apologies for the actions of those two members of the Canadian Air Force. SORRY
Really excited for you guys! I hope it all goes as well as possible. Best of luck!
Best of luck for her journey! Can’t wait to see the progress!
I can't be there, but will be glued to my internet feed to watch her moving on the water!
Hello from Ireland, I’ll be watching the live steam 👍
This is one of those very rare days I missed living in Philly. I'm really sad I'll miss this, because I would have been on the Navy Yard every day.
I will be watching the live stream from Finland.
Great work Ryan! You really do an amazing service to this ship, it's crew and the history. Thanks for everything you do.
Will be watching online since I am in Texas.
Too far away to be there but will be watching the live stream as much as I can. Godspeed!
Hi from Canada, hope all goes well tomorrow.
Ryan, congratulations on your move! Your passion for the job shows and welcomed on the channel!
I would love to be coming out there. However I'm about as far away in the United States as you can get from New Jersey. Living the dream up here in Alaska. I did have the pleasure of visiting USS Missouri when I was in Hawaii.
Fair winds and following seas.
I can't be there tomorrow but I'll be watching the live stream the whole time. And, I have my ticket for the 8:00 AM Saturday 4/6 tour. First day, first tour. Absolutely cannot wait.
Although I would have loved to watch it in person, I am watching it on the live feed!! Thank you for providing the live feed!!
Holding all my fingers twisted and sending all the positive vibes, not just for the transit, but also when you'll do the assay. GOOD LUCK and gentle waves!
We have snacks ready for the live stream. After setting the ship on the blocks, we are hoping for a grand tour of the dry dock too.
lol that canadian airforce comment slew me! though missed opportunity to call it "the cananadian chairfarce" its getting exciting to see the drydock prep! godspeed uss new jersey and crew!
So cool to watch the videos for a long time when you talk about drydocking already two years ago and now its already happening
as spring has just officially arrived, New Jersey is springing from her prison of many years.
Unfortunately I'm on the wrong side of the pond to see it in person but I will definitely be watching live. Good luck and godspeed. 🎉
3:09 I love that I use the same thing on my little Miata as these guys use to get a 60,000 ton battleship moving. The ever reliable can of WD40.
Love the 'photobombing' 8-) Good luck with the two stage move to drydock Ryan!
Greetings from Canada. I hope all goes well for this magnificent ship.
sadly... i live to far away... but i will watch as much of the live stream as I can... good luck.
Being big maritime/naval fan from Central European land locked country, I plan to watch online, thank you for streaming that great event!
I loved drone footage of USS Texas, looking forward to see Big J in motion.

oh. man you guys must be so excited. i wish i could see this , its not everyday you see a full battleship getting moved. hope it all goes to plan.
I will definitely one day donate. Those ships are still one of our greatest assets. Its not my call but if it was atleast one of them would be in service . And the armor and hull copied to make a new battleship. The look of an iowa with technology of today.
Wonderful to see BB62 moving on the water again even with the 4 tugs working.
While I'd love to watch in person, I'll be watching via stream. As always, thanks for sharing. I hope the ol' girl has a safe trip.
Will be watching the departure from central FL! Excited to see her underway!
If I lived there, I'd be asking for time off from work to go watch everything. Heck, I'd take a vacation there if I could!
Watching from landlocked Boise, ID, way over here in the Rockies near the West Coast
Planning to watch via livestream from South Carolina. I love your channel and hope to see the New Jersey in person one day. Good luck as y’all go in to drydock!
I’ll be watching the livestream from California.
I toured the New Jersey back in the 80’s when she paid a visit to San Francisco during that commission. She’s still the only battleship I’ve ever toured, so I consider her “my” battleship (especially since Mighty Mo’ ended up in Hawai’i instead of SF). I DID get get to overfly the Iowa in a B-17 while she was “in mothballs” at Suisun Bay, but since I never stood on her deck, she couldn’t replace New Jersey as “my” battleship.
That flight was one of those “timing is everything” moments that happens when least expected. Somewhere I’ve a aerial shot of Iowa taken through the waist window of the bomber… flex-mount .50 cal in the foreground. Damn I was lucky that day.
Hope NJ has her running light on during transit!
I'm looking at her here 9pm she's dark save for one light on the bow. If I didn't know where to look I'd miss her.
Running lights aren't needed in daylight.
Dang I wish I could be there, but will live vicariously through the livestream.
Planning on being there on the 21st and already booked a drydock tour
I am bringing most of my family to watch from the Spirit of Philadelphia. I'm looking forward to this tomorrow!
Dry dock for me and my older brother! Going the 25th!
Will most likely be watching on the live stream but fingers crossed that I can catch a glimpse of the ship live from above as I take off from Philly international airport to fly to Las Vegas
I will be watching this via the live link in Perth, Western Australia, but it's at 1am on Friday morning.....
I'm planning on watching from across the river along Delaware Ave and will be on the drydock tour 4/21. I must say, normally Ryan knocks it out of the park on these videos. This time, however, I have to give the win to those two geese. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing!
Will be watching from around 5am New Zealand 🇳🇿 time
Years ago, I heard a sea story about a ship that got away and made sticks out of the pier that the wind blew it into.
Ryan - I will be watching the live stream at home due to my age. Best of success on the dry docking. Next I plan to order some merchandise.
GREAT VIDEO RYAN!!!! THANKS TO THE GUYS WORKING SO HARD TO GET THIS GREAT BATTLESHIP ON HER WAY,,.. AND AT DRY DOCK ,, WILL BE WATCHING ON LIVE STREAM SORRY CANT MAKE IT,,, AMEN,, VETERAN...
I just found out from the Associated Mess i mean Press, that she was going in dry dock ,how awesome 😮
Sorry about the Canadian geese, eh. Those fellers been running a foul lately.
Perhaps the most effective anti-aircraft weapon in history - the Mk. 1 GOOSE! The Miracle on the Hudson (Captain Sullenberger's amazing landing) was after both engines ate geese, and a lot of other aircraft have been "shot down" by Canada Geese over the years - they're big, and they're wetland birds who, unfortunately, often find good habitat at or around airports.
I don't know how the total number of aircraft lost to goose shootdowns compare in number shot down by the 40mm Bofors gun (including those on New Jersey) or the F6F Hellcat' at the Battle of the Philippine Sea.
See ya on the 6th! 9:00am
Will be there! Can't wait, and I cant wait for my drydock tour!!
I’m coming down from NYC to see the ship leave the pier!
Interesting notes on the anchor chain and chain locker. I believe when the Missouri was in drydock in 1989, we got our anchor chains painted. Probably the paint locker was painted at the same time, since that would be the only opportunity, while it was empty. These ships did not anchor in the 1980s nearly as often as they would have during their original service. I only recall anchoring the Missouri a handful of times in 3 years, and all but one of those was in San Pedro Bay near Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station to load or unload ammunition from a barge. The other time was during a 3-day port visit to Mazatlan, Mexico. Each time we were in a protected harbor and dropped one anchor. Otherwise, everywhere we went we moored to a pier, so each anchor was used on average just once a year for about 3 days, which isn't long enough to cause significant corrosion or sea growth. The chain and anchor were hosed off with fresh water each time as we weighed anchor and got underway. The result was that the anchors and chains stayed very clean and rust-free.
I am looking forward to watching online - probably after the fact and after work, but still looking forward to it!
i will be watching the stream from my home in Navarre, FL. Would love to watch it in person if i could... Good luck my friend!!!
Well the ceremony will be starting at 1am on the 22nd here in Aus. I may manage to catch a bit of it live.
Bon voyage!
See you on April 6! I'm booked for the morning drydock tour.
Will be streaming from Rome, Italy. Congratulations!
If the late 80's battle music was Welcome to the Jungle it would be amazing if there was a PA blasting it during tow.
I am about 2 hours away but it's a school/work day or we would come out. I have visited BB62 3 or 4 times as a Boy Scout and on my own. Additionally, Alabama, Constitution and Olympia. I look forward to visiting New Jersey again soon after dry dock!
Gonna try to watch as much as I can of the live stream. I’m a steel hauler in the St. Louis area and I have a 09:30 CDT appt to load coils. I may be listening on my headset at first with my phone in my pocket while I’m getting my load strapped down.
Paul Walker, in Oregon. Relief QM crewman, Lebanon. I don't watch much TV, but I watch all of Ryan's postings on my phone !!😂
Woohoo !! Super excited ❤
My son and I will be doing the dry dock tour on the 6th. Can't wait.
I will be watching tomorrow at 8 am here in Las Vegas..
im sure you have heard this a million times , you have a great job and you do a great job of it. Very exciting wish I was close enough to see this in person, I haven’t seen New jersey since she was in Sydney with ny dad for the Australian Navy’s celebration in the 80s
Stay safe everyone! Thank you for streaming the event for those of us who can't be there.
Very exciting, well done!
Thanks!
I have to work... not to mention I'm 1,000 miles away, so I'll be catching the live stream. Good luck !
