- When looking for a new car, you might be interested in modern conveniences like power windows, auto leveling suspension, automatic climate control and auto high beam. Well you might be interested in the #Lincoln #Continental, of 1967.
The ’68 Lincoln Continental is as much an #American luxoboat as one can imagine. Built in the heyday of American luxury sedans, it is an epitome of big, plush and powerful. It tells the story of the American Dream with an abundance of chrome, metallic paint inside and out, advanced gadgetry and pre-EPA V8 power. All that packed in a stylish, elegantly designed coachwork.
Today every car is about road feel. You know what has a good road feel!? A shopping cart! I don’t care about road feel in a luxury car. I want to have comfort and I want to feel as little of the road as possible.
The bench seats are like the comfy couches in your living room. They’re like riding sofas, inviting you to drive for hours and hours, playing rock-n-roll on your 8-track.
With a bench seat in the back and an electronically adjustable bench seat in the front, the ’67 Lincoln Continental is a true 6-seater. But the trunk of this car can fit even more bodies than the passenger space. The cavernous room of 18 cubic feet is as big as the trunk space of a Ford’s biggest SUV; the Expedition.
Getting in and out is a blast with its badass rear suicide doors. Who removed this feature from modern cars?
The list of technical features of this car may be even more impressive than its size.
The Lincoln Continental was so technically advanced that it was equipped with power outlets for all passengers to charge their phones. Pity it took so long for the market to develop cell phones.
This Lincoln furthermore features an electronic power antenna and an 8-track player. Back in the day, you were able to choose between an AM/8-track player or an AM/FM radio when you ordered one of these cruise ships.
With the automatic temperature control this car will not only make you look cool, but will also keep you cool. No matter if you’re driving through the extreme heat of Death Valley or the colder climates of the Rocky’s, the automatic temperature control will make sure the interior temperature will be just right.
To top off the list of interior luxuries, the Continental is equipped with cruise control to maximize your comfort on longer trips.
Driving this luxurious Lincoln makes you lose all sense of urgency. It makes you understand why they’re called luxoboats. The suspension feels like a ship cruising along on an quiet sunny day and the steering feels just like steering a ship too. Very light with a slow response. It’s like your windshield is a big screen that makes you dream away while you see the world passing along.
The 7.6L (462 cu in) V8, paired to a 3-speed automatic C6 transmission, boasts 340 hp and came stock with a dual exhaust in the back. 485 lb-ft of torque brings the car to 60 mph in roughly 9.5 seconds.
The detail in fit and finish of the door and the rest of the interior is astonishing.
There is lots of chrome in and on this car. And where you see chrome, there’s actual chrome plated metal, no cheap plastic. That being said, the whole interior boats a delightful lack of cheap plastic parts. Doors and seats are covered with thickly cushioned chesterfield buttoned leather.
People are always talking about American cars not being able to take corners, well this one does take corners.
It doesn’t fit through this street, but that is because the street is too narrow. Every street should be adjusted to this car, not the other way around. Because this car is awesome!
So... what is our conclusion? Actually, there’s only one thing that comes up. What car makers call luxury these days is a joke. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Glorious car with glorious name. Gotta polish and find the missing hubcaps for this one though.
I'm glad you enjoyed our Report! The car has been restored about a year after we recorded the video.
what a beautiful era and beautiful car love lincoln
A Lincoln (like this) is what a luxury car should be, as their slogan has been for a long time! Greetings from Canada on this Christmas day.
My friends parents in California had a 1968 Lincoln Continental. I spent many wonderful hours in this car going up to Lake Tahoe, and all around San Francisco. This was one of the finest American luxury cars built. I have two Mercedes now (an E and an SL), but these cars still don't match the overall grandness and luxury (and fun) of the 1960's Lincolns. I often still long for one. And the horn blow towards the end of the video is totally authentic. That 1968 Lincoln had a triple-note horn as standard equipment, and it still sound perfect today !
Beautiful, thanks for sharing! Yes, the 'grandeur' of these Lincolns is amazing. What holds you back from owing one again?
THEY NEED TO BRING THEM BACK ON LINE. A GREAT HEAVY RIDE. A CLASS ACT AHEAD OF IT'S TIME. I KNOW I HAD ONE THAT I DROVE FROM FORT PEARCE FLA. TO LAUREL, MD AND I WAS HOOKED ON THE WAY IT HANDLED AND THE RIDE !
Yes, it is a shame that nobody is making cars with this type of ride quality anymore these days. Thank you for watching!
One of my all time favorite cars from that Over the Top era. I love 'over the top' cars and this was one of the very best from those days. The build quality and ride was exceptional and reliability was very good.
Same here, I love them too! The large cars from Ford have always been rock solid. Cadillac is more famous with their more outspoken designs, but these Lincoln's are truly beautiful.
I Love old big American cars . Full size sedans, like Lincoln, cadillac , Ford and Chevrolet Just Said.
Second that! They're more refined than many people tend to think.
My father owned one new in '68! Great video! Bravo!!!!
Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed watching our video!
Mad props for not automatically bashing it just because it's American. I had one of these for about ten years and loved it. I think these were just about the zenith of Lincoln production cars as far as comfort goes
It's the contrary; we are big fans of American automobiles, especially the old ones. They have solid build quality ("barn door engineering"), are refined and a very luxurious. That, paired with eye-catching design makes them a favorite for us!
I've got a Lincoln Continental 1969 sedan sitting in my garage waiting to visit the beauty parlor and have it's valve seats replaced with hardened seats so I can drive on unleaded gas.The Lincoln in the video is just lacking a set of giant chrome wheel covers to set off those tires. Lovely well kept Lincoln. Congrats.
Thanks for watching William! It'll be great when your Lincoln will be on the road again! The Lincoln in the video has its factory wheel covers back on and you're right--it looks even nicer!
I used to ride in this car or a similar Lincoln every Sunday from my grandmother's house to church. Ahhh....childhood.....I loved life 30 or so years ago....It was so much simpler and better!
It makes you wonder what happened to the American car industry. The large SUV's and pickups are still nice, but what the heck happened to the American sedans...
Awesome awesome awesome video.. I have a 2 door 1969 coupe.. to this day it impresses the shit out of people on how they are getting ripped off from car manufacturing companies and the garbage that they produce now.
Hey Hawk do you have any videos of your 69 coupe ? I'm restoring a 66 Lincoln continental coupe which was the first year Lincoln made. I'll post some videos as I work on the vehicle 👍
Lincolns are my favorite. I have owned in the past 45 years, a 1963, 1964, 1989 Town Car base, a 1983 Continental 4 door with every option including the moon roof, and I presently own a 1989 Town Car base with only 52000 miles, which is my daily driver.
That's an amazing history of ownership! Great that you're using one of those car as your daily driver. Cars weren't meant to sit still in a garage :-)
I know you agree that they were what a luxury car should be.
Wow! Getting that car serviced in Holland must be a challenge. My dad used to drive Lincolns - they were definitely a notch above most other American cars in quality. Cadillacs were of similar quality until the 1980s.
It is, unfortunately. Most parts have to be ordered directly from the States and then you have to pay an extra import tax (why?) and costly shipping. It is worth it, however. Beautiful car!
In the 80's the quality level of most American cars declined, unfortunately. It was the end of the so-called barndoor engineering. It seems however that Cadillac is climbing back to those high standards though.
@@LCR Is/was it reliable atleast? Surely it must be quite simple under the hood also, from the days of everyone servicing their own cars aren't they?
I've got a '68 just like that, except I've got the hardtop with black vinyl on a metallic 60s light green. 32K miles on it, all original, repainted in the 80s with original color. The one in this video has lame tires. Mine are white walls with the original chrome hubcaps, really sets it off. Better love polishing chrome and waxing some serious Sq footage to keep her clean. Best car ever. 65 mph feels like 45 in this thing it's like a hover-car! Needs high octane fuel (I've used racing fuel before) NO ethanol, in fact if you can get in a time machine and fill it up with leaded gas she'll really be pleased. Might knock from time to time if you're putting cheap unleaded in. The original owner of mine was an old doctors widow in my hometown. She mostly kept it in the garage, and only backed into one thing with it! I have a small dent on the original chrome bumper, but if you ask me it gives it provenance. Coolest part of the car is probably the power cigarette windows.
Thanks for sharing! 32k original miles since the 60s is amazing. I'm sure the whole car must feel like a true time machine. I would love to buy a 60s or 70s full size sedan with very low miles someday. Keep it in the garage and make a nice trip with it once a month.
Very nice guys! And from the Netherlands too! Win-Win!
+The Dutch Texan Thank you, we're glad you liked it! Make sure to subscribe for more!
Done when I saw Haarzuilens... Was there last year visiting family. Love that castle!
my 67 Lincoln was my first car back in 86..it was mint..i drove it for 3 mos, and realized its too nice for a daily driver didn't want to ruin it so i bought a daily beater 78 Toyota corolla 2 door brought the Lincoln to shows instead and kept it in dads garage 5 years later /sold to a collector //i needed college money and couldn't afford to run 2 cars ... i always missed the Lincoln and that 462 engine,,,mine was aqua and with aqua interior with dark aqua carpet..loved the liquid speedo and stainless trim like on the dash ..it had all optiond ,,everyone liked the suicide doors///
Amazing to have that as a first car... and glad you saved it! There’s a 1986 Ford LTD over here that has only about 30k miles from the first owner who owned it until 2015. Now the new owner uses it as a daily driver which is very unfortunate. The car looks mint. Well, at least yours went to a collector! A great fate for a beautiful car like that. Is aqua a bit more of a greenish color?
yeah l.c.r. i wished i could have kept the 67 Lincoln,,,lke to get another 67 same color ///been looking / at least i still have the 84 grand marquis 2 door which is mint..never seen winter..the black 2 door you saw on here.internet/// i like a lot of different cars on here..yes the Lincoln was a greenish sea foam with bluish paint exterior///
GOOD FOR YOU!!! Thank you for recognizing what you had...
Best car Ford made besides the Crown Victoria and Marauder. Beautiful review 👏 👌 ❤
Agreed! The Lincoln Continental and later Town Car were some of Ford's best creations. Luxurious, big, powerful and reliable. Thanks for watching!
Great video, so right about today's hard riding luxo cars. this is not just a car, its a place ! knowing its nearby and ready to go is all the comfort you need. time to check craigslist.
Thanks for your comment! We're glad you like it as much as we do!
Beautiful report and very enjoyable but please do some more of this type of car (??) I like the more modern luxury cars, but THESE cars. We need more reports like this to give us more vicarious satisfaction.
Thank you, we're glad you liked it! There will be more like this coming up in the future!
@@LCR Excellent !
Kool video guys! Glad to see someone in Europe who appreciates the land barge, even at $6 a gallon for fuel. I have been driving these cars since I was 16. Have 7 of them from 1966 to 2004 including a 66 convertible.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed! This Lincoln runs on LPG which costs about a third of the price of gasoline over here.
BEST REVIEW EVAR
thanks guys :')
Thanks for watching & subscribe for more! We have a 90s Toyota Land Cruiser coming up and the new Cadillac XT5 and Volvo XC90 for 2017!
Every word in this video is SO true and I LOVE it. Thank you so much for this video.
Greetings
Thank you for your great comment! We appreciate it!
Awesome car, some day hopefully i will have one of these nice cars
Awesome car & video. You are quite right about what is classified as LUXURY today. Back then, NO RESPECTFUL LUXO would not have anything LESS THAN A V8. As they got smaller, the would shrink the engine size. But,ALWAYS A V8. Confort & convenience accessories didn't require you to pull & STUDY THE THICK/MANY MANUALS OF TODAY. But,they had @least adequate power to move them luxo boats. Gas was cheaper, & they were thirsty, it was worth it. Enjoy. .. that road sled is worth investing $ome $$$,awesome car. I love the unique horn. Bad ass!
Thank you Papo Cam! The main thing I appreciate about V8 engines is their smoothness and full-range torque. No small turbocharged engine can match that.
Some investments have been made since the making of the video; for example all the rusty spots in the bodywork have been restored and freshly repainted, and some more work has been done on it that I don't know by heart.
Luxury Car Report I would love to see the outcome.
Great video and a beautiful classic. I used to own a 1967 Continental, mint green with a black vinyl top and black interior. I'll never forget the cloud-like ride and the surprising acceleration from something so massive and heavy. When I gave my friends a ride, I'd tell them that you didn't "park" it -- you "docked" it. Parts were sometimes hard to find, though. I bought it from the original owner, who was selling only because of a financial emergency, and I ended up selling it back to him two years after I bought it. Nice job.
Wow, what a great story! Wonderful that you sold it back to the original owner and sort of 'preserved; it for him in the meanwhile. And I will remember the expression of 'docking' these cars, maybe we will use that expression next time we make a video of a car like this again!
I love it !!! 😃
I just bought one of these. It is almost the exact same thing except mine is green with yellow leather. Hahaha It is all original. It had been in a barn for 41 years! The inspection ran out in May 1980.
That's amazing! Great that you bought it! How is the condition?
Pretty good. No dents or anything, but some mice got in and made a mess inside.
And thanks. I agree. I saw this thing and it looked like Elvis could come out. I love the sound the doors make when you close them, and the trunk impressed me.
This is excellent!
I love the rear suicide doors
Thank you fo posting posting video. The smooth ride and supreme comfort of the 60s Lincolns and Cadillacs cannot be match today. Not even by Rolls-Royce. I recently sold a $240,000 Bentley that road like a rock compared to these cars. I agree for our normal daily driving we don't need such hard suspension road cars. You said it all well! Thank you. Now we need to get you a tune-up and a set of proper wheel covers!
Thank you for your compliments Greg, we're glad you liked the video! Never rode anything more smooth than this Lincoln. After we made this video, the bodywork has been restored where it was rusting. About the wheel covers; they were falling of the rims so that's why we left them off. We didn't want to lose them.
When these were going down the assembly line-I was born--1968. I remember when these land yachts were near new.
What were your thoughts on them back then?
@@LCR Loved 'em, even back then. I have ALWAYS had a soft spot for the luxocruisers. I've even test-driven several Cadillac limousines (a '64, two '69s, and a '67) as a teenager. Man what fun. They rode like they were on a bath of oil. I used to build toy limos out of Legos I liked them so much. For a time as a teenager, I drew some mighty fancy ones of my own--mostly six-door jobs.
One thing I'm not keen on is the divider window. Let the chauffeur sit to the right of me and let me talk to everyone in the car.
I miss my '63 I obtained in 1987 for reasonable cash $3000 in Very Good cond. with low miles. In Light Blue. You're right Driving that car home from New Jersey to Mass at 70 Mph all the way on the old 4 ply tires I felt like king of the road! And I am use to more modern cars. Should of kept it. LIttle did I know the value would jump so high in it's condition.
+gene978 I like the new technology in modern cars, but I wish there would still be the distinction between sports cars and luxury cars in terms of handling and ride quality. A sporty car doesn't make for much comfort, but it is all you get these days except maybe for the full size SUVs.
Those pipes in the back bring back a loud report that this behemoth is ready to vaporize whatever is in the way.
Haha yes! Better not get in the way with your econobox.
So pleasing to hear people appreciating the qualities of this type of car. Yes, of course they are significantly different from modern cars. People who love these cars understand: Their ride is so smooth compared to any car today. Just as the Model T was so primitive compared to This beautiful '68 Lincoln. I had great experiences with '60's/'70's Yanky cars.
Well absolutely. The hard and stiff ride is a trend that in our opinion doesn't make much sense in a luxury sedan. It doesn't make for a comfortable commute.
Your video has the best description of the many, many luxury features of these cars at the touch of a button. If you'll permit?; I would've used a classic Blue Note recording from 1967, such as Bobby Hutcherson, or perhaps a Quincy Jones/Bobby Scott track for the music accompaniment.
VERY NICE VIDEO......LOVE IT
Thank you! We're glad you liked it!
6:23 american classic gets looks whenever you go. American pride. When USA was great.
Yes, people still love them everywhere! The 1950's and 1960's were the high of automotive industry in America. And nowhere has it ever been surpassed.
What is the song? This is easily my favorite car, and in my opinion, it is the most beautiful car ever designed. Great review!
Thanks for your comment, we always love to hear from our viewers! Which of the songs in the video are you referring to? Could you post a time?
Cool !
Thank you! That's what we thought!
i'm in love
thanks for the response...I think its important to save these old cars ..they justdont make them like they used to...once there gone there are gone....I want to upload my mint condition 84grand marquis ls coupe and 68 California special mustang ......another rare one .........................keep the great videos coming ...glad to see this car is being saved ,,,too many people drove the crap out of them then tossed them away'''''''''''''''''''
Agreed! Once they're gone, you can never get them back. The classic American cars come from a unique era in terms of design, innovation and rigid build quality.
Do you have videos of your cars? Those are two gorgeous models too! Lovin' the boxy design of the '84 Grand Marquis. And that Mustang is amazing! You have one of the most desirable Mustangs in existance! We'd love to have it on our show!
You learned something that other people still make mistakes on. The Year. You first called it a '67 and later corrected to 1968. Any automobile that is date stamped after July 31 is next year's model.
It was a bit difficult in the narration. What I meant to say is that in 1967, you could get those features in the 1968 Lincoln Continental. The first two videos on this channel initially had the incorrect year because like you said, we didn't know about this yet. It's a strange habit anyway by manufacturers to date their models made after June by the next year. I wonder how that started.
My dad had a 1968 Lincoln Continental. The biggest mistake he ever made was trading it in for a new 1977 Chrysler Newport. I loved that Lincoln and the way it felt going down the road. Dad's Newport was a piece of junk from the minute he brought it home. Lesson learned.
What made the Newport so much worse?
@@LCR The lean burn engine for one thing. Also, it was nearly impossible for the average person to change all the spark plugs.
Great review. Loved the music selections. One question: what's that thing near the radio antenna that looks like it has a red light?
Thank you for watching! It's the autolamp sensor, which automatically switches off the high beam for oncoming traffic.
I have owned one since 1984. I can tell you that there is NO other car the compares.
Do you still have it?
@@LCR I do indeed
That's awesome! Sounds like she's a real part of the family now.
@@LCR has been. I know every inch of her and she is still the best running and smooth riding vehicle I have ever had. Love your channel
What did u do with the hub caps??Anyway, Love the Lincoln!!!! Those Early Continentals are Awesome!!!!
Thank you for watching, glad you liked it! Unfortunately, the hubcaps fell off during driving, so we had to leave them off for the remainder of the video shooting.
It's a shame that this car is missing the original wheel covers, otherwise, a great looking survivor. I wish my 68 Continental was in as good shape
+Beer And Bacon They're still there and they will be back on the car! :)
Very good then. I always think steel wheels with Original Wheel covers are superior to the new ugly rims people put on old cars
Agreed; they fit the overal image of the car the best. The owner of the car lost one wheel cover recently because the tire shop used clip-on wheel balancing weights instead of stick-on weights. That was why we left them off the car while driving. Another viewer pointed us to an eBay aution for a replacement cover so as soon as the clip-on issue has been fixed, the Lincoln will be wearing all four caps again.
Beer And Bacon, actually, i think that it adds to the respectable unrestored original condition of the car, besides, wheel cover can easily fall off or get stolen.
Luxury Car Report, ^^^^^
I just got a 1968 to restore. Super interested in finding out what the small light is or used for on the hood next to the antenna? Thanks for your time and hope to hear back. Great video as well love the car
Hi Glenn, that's awesome! The little thing on top of the hood is for the auto dimming high beam.
Great video. Just think that the Lincoln and Continental were two different divisions, and also bigger from 1958 to '60 and again starting in '64, and again in '70 and again from 1977 to '79. The Lincoln Continental, started in 1961, as one car, make and model. I've always loved the Imperial LeBarons as well. You showcased this '68 Lincoln Continental really good as a respectable unrestored original along with some humor. I'm not much into modern cars, nor modern music but your soundtrack seem to fit in pretty good. I remember hearing "Sleep On The Way" a couple of months ago for the first time at my sons house and remembered it now with the first couple of notes even before the vocals, i didn't know the name until now, and i looked it up and found it on youtube. Can you find a 1964 to '66 Imperial LeBaron to video? The 1961 Lincoln and 1964 Imperial were both designed by Elwood Engel. He was fired by Ford and hired by Chrysler in 1961. " The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" title track from Genesis would represent the Imperial very well, lyric wise. Great video!
Thank you for your wonderful comment! I did not know that they were two separate divisions. The bodywork of the Continental in the video has been restored in the meantime, but before that, it was a good looking 50 year old original! Most of the music was selected by our crew member Rik (who does the sound recordings and part of the camera work). Sleep On The Way was picked by me (the presenter) because it has a lot of emotion in it. We’re really glad you like it so much! Just watched a video about a 1964 Imperial LeBaron coupe. I remember it again with the uniquely shaped tail lights and the large eagle on the gas tank. Also those free-standing headlamps are very unique for that era. They are amazing cara. Must ride like a cloud. Talking about LeBaron; we have one coming up on this channel! Not an Imperial though, but a 1989 Chrysler. Thanks for watching!
Luxury Car Report, 1956 to 1960 Lincoln and Continental were two different divisions, but i think that they started to combine the two into one sometime during the 1960 production year. my first car was a 1973 Imperial LeBaron and i sold it for something more practical at the time, getting married and having kids but eventually, we bought another one after a 1969 Dodge Coronet 500 and then along with a 1963 Imperial LeBaron and a 1969 Plymouth Sport Satellite, our collection is filled. And actually, that 1964 had to be a Crown Coupe because they didn't make LeBaron in two doors until 1969, except for a rare one of a kind 1962 LeBaron two door that was specifically built fo a Chrysler top executive back in '62. 1961 to '63 Imperial had the free standing headlights and rectangular steering wheel and 1960 to '63 had the electroluminescent dash cluster. All of our classic cars are in the same shape as this Lincoln in the video, we drive them sparingly and we always use as many MoPar parts as possible. We also have a Dodge Durango and a Mercedes C300 that are our daily drivers.
Would take this 1968 over any modern day 'tech' mobile of today. One of our cars is a 2006 Lincoln Towncar and love it but would love to have a mid-60's suicide door Continental.
The 2006 Town Car is a beautiful car as well! Very classy and very comfortable. Too bad Lincoln didn't update the model line but canceled it altogether.
My uncle had a 68 Lincoln continental just like this one except it was burgundy. He didn't really drive it very much because he always had other newer cars and the old Lincoln spent most of her days in his garage but a couple times a month he would take it out for Sunday drives. Any time anything broke on that car he would immediately have it fixed, so by 2004 when he passed away the old Lincoln was still pretty much in mint condition. My uncle never married or had any kids so when he passed away one of my cousins got the old Lincoln which he completely destroyed in less than a year. Kinda sad really.
Wow, that is really sad. A waste of a nice classic car. Shame it fell into the hands of someone who didn't appreciate it.
I MUST APOLOGIZE... I had multiple CZcams tabs open in my browser, and mixed up my comments with a 1965 Continental that had the whole column tilt with a vacuum-operated system. OOPS!!
YOUR car however, is still optioned beyond our own '68, and this is the very first year for the tilt-wheel that operates by carefully pushing the turn-signal wand away from you, unlike the separate levers used by GM & Chrysler... ALSO on that turn-signal is the Accel/Decel Cruise Control with the detent in the motion of the button (instead of a
"speed-wheel" down where your on/off panel is) that Ford would use through the 70's & 80's even when they put the buttons on the wheel itself. Dad didn't have those until his '71 Town Car.
There is one thing I don't recognize, left of the map light: Is that a "joystick" speaker fader for the Stereo8 tape player?
Having said that, you of course also have the automatic hi-beam-dimmer on the left-front fender, and those are FOUR ashtrays & cigar lighters, not 'power ports', cuz half of the country still smoked in 1968... ;O)
We knew it is well-optioned for its time but we didn't know it was that rare! Sadly we forgot to mention that auto high beam dimmer because that's a cool feature as well. Thanks for your comment!
The "joystick"-like button is for the power antenna; you can push it up or down to move the antenna accordingly.
OH, OF COURSE!!!
You must forgive me, as I was only 8 at the time... Because YOUR car has the 8-Track, there was no room for the Antenna buttons above the radio dial! The non-tape radios - which I grew up with - had one big UP button & one big DOWN button above the dial for the antenna... Wow - I wish I could go back there/then.
and who can forget those power vent wings in the front? Smokers loved them and used the Hell out of them. You couldn't get a car like this made for under $500Gs today, but then again, the Saturn V rocket, a 1968 invention, blasted out 160 million horsepower. 1968=CAN-DO, Y'ALL!!!
Great car ! My parents had a '66. And I absolutely LOVE that horn ! It commands attention, not like the "politically correct" horns we find on modern day cars.
+Wilbur Snaffel Thank you for your comment! I wish my parents had a car like that! And I also wonder where that kind of Horn went... The last car I knap that had iT is The 90s Buick Roadmaster.
Themz iz TEXAZ hornz. They assume you're not paying attention. And the smooth sound of that doorslam. You just don't hear a doorslam like that on any car anywhere anymore.
Town Cars still had a similar sound till the last year of production
@@LCR We can say there will always be those who think a car should be way more than a 0-60 hot, rough ride. We feel our cars have to help calm us, relax us, and help keep us from acting like a bunch of fools. PERFORMANCE IS OUT--PLUSH IS IN!!!
Goeie review!
I got a 1965 imperial crown that was built off this design
some one needs to restore this car ..it really doesn't need much ,,just some engine detailing a good cleaning and a repaint and if your into rechrome and find some good hubcapsto replace missing ones..i owned a mint 67 ..I wish I never sold it,,but moved on
Hi David, I'm happy to tell you that the original hubcaps are still with the car (and put on again), and the paint and body panels have been restored by the owner. Rechroming might be a next step!
After comparing 1967 and 1968 models, I see yours has the same wood-look appliqué as did mine, a 1968.
It's the 1968 model, but it was built in 1967. That's why both years are mentioned.
Luxury Car Report, they were usually introduced to the public in August in those years. Now i think that it is in July.
The wheels are horrible!!!!! Gorgeous car! It as our family car in the 60s70s
Yes, the hubcaps were falling off so we left them off while driving to prevent losing them. Thank you for watching! It indeed is a beautiful car.
I used to have a 1968 in light blue non-metallic exterior with the identical leather interior. Great car! Do you need more wheel covers (I think they're fairly available here in California)?
Yes that would be great! They're very hard to find here.
Luxury Car Report I just looks on eBay in the United States, they are available for $25 usd each.
1s nise review Lincoln continental 60xx.
Thanks you by USSR!
Thank you! Great to see a viewer from Russia here!
What is that very strange sidewinder air filter assembly? Is that required for Holland? I believe it weighed ~ 2,800 kilos, and used ~ 24 liters of fuel for every 100 kilometers. As long as you have the fuel budget, they are great cars to drive
I wasn't aware that that's different from the American Lincolns. As far as I know, these old cars have no different requirements in Holland. In terms of fuel, most of these large American vehicles have been converted to run on natural gas, which is about a third of the price of gasoline in Holland, due to the taxes being much lower.
@@LCR Okay, converted to natural gas, that would explain the number of odd things I see in the engine compartment - like that strange device below the upper radiator hose and the battery. That does not at all look like the original carburetor, and there are some other unusual items. Now I want to know what is going on with the wheel covers? First I see two wheel covers on the left side and none on the right side, then all four are missing, then one can be seen again on the front left. Are people taking the wheel covers for souvenirs? Ah, Chesterfield leather - thick full grain hides. Although I think the doors were covered in a copycat grain of vinyl. I like the exterior color, not a common choice.
The Music Is Vintage Disco (Dj Moy Rework)
May I suggest a alternative?
[Ian Barras-Funky Mama (Original Mix)]
That's a Tug boat!
I'm getting a 65
Nice! They're beautiful cars!
What's the name of the song that starts at 0:43? Thanks
It's called 'Beat Head' and it was published by Music 2 Hues. You can check it out here: www.music2hues.com/royalty-free-music/royalty-free-flashback-the-70s-music.html
I notice that the wheel covers are off when driving the car. Do they fall off?
The hubcaps fell off due to some garage having fitted clip-on wheel balancing weights on the rims. We couldn't fix that on time for the video, so we left them off during driving to prevent losing them.
Het einde van de video dat ie niet aan springt komt door de LPG installatie hahaha, heb n impala van 1973 heeft t zelfde, even paar keer pompen met t gas en hij loopt weer
I really loved this video. Do more like this, you made that turd look awesome and made me search ebay for one.
You made our day with your comment! Glad you liked the video and we'll sure make more of these so keep watching us!
Maybe you could get your hands on a silver shadow or even a silver cloud? If you were ever in the states you could borrow one of mine for review.
Those are a couple true luxo barges, though their handling may surprise you after driving this thing.
We'd love to make videos of those. I think that especially the Silver Cloud has beautiful lines. Actually two of us will be visiting the US next year, so it would be great if we get that chance!
Contact me direct, if you end up doing a cross country tour, maybe setting up cars to review along the way or something like that, I am in the middle of the USA and would be happy to oblige. The best way to reach me is through my business. Contact info at - euautoworksmn.com - I have a few cars for you to chose from.
Depending on when and where you land I might be able to meet.
Not a turd, it was actually a pretty sharp car in it's day..and those suicide doors were awesome! Loved the video.....would have been perfect if the car had all of its wheel covers :-)
what the name of the song at 3:30???? I need to know!!
+Brutality110 It's 'Sleep on the Way' by Azoora.
Love it, would've been better had it overheated
Great review, but those tires . . .
Thank you! The tires/hubcaps have been fixed in the meantime.
you forgot to mention the auto headlight dimmer ondrivers side fender my 67 had it inside the drivers fender with theclear lense on the trim next to headlight....and the dual exhaust came with resonators in the front part of the exhaust
You're right--unfortunately we forgot to mention that amazing feature. Another interesting thing is the button on the floor to flash the high beams.
Luxury Car Report, awh, classic cars...
my current model is a little newer from 71, a golden goose, with the pop down lights and slightly more power, but my god does the american way of luxury make everyone jealous, cough cough jeremy clarkson cough cough, does anyone know the song they used in the video
That's beautiful! Definitely a car to be proud of! Ironically, Clarkson used to praise American cars for being so sturdy and luxurious. But as public taste and opinion changed, so did his narrative.
@@LCR doesnt mean he wasnt funny though, a lot of people dont seem to able to laugh with him on the jokes rather than become angry he criticized their favorite car, and thank you for making such a nice video
Thank you!! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Why did you choose a deteriorating example with missing hubcaps, tarnished chrome and in need of a new exhaust system?
It's not like Holland is riddled with mint condition '68 Lincoln Continentals. It's in a nice enough shape for an unrestored 50 year old car. The hubcaps we had to take off because they weren't properly secured. Didn't want to lose them.
Lincoln: Lanes? What are those?
😂😂
Just like a Cadi.....it can pass anything but a gas pump
I call it a Luxicruse X-D
Why do the wipers go in the opposite direction? More like they should be for right hand drive cars.
+Principe Raphael Good question, we were wondering the same. As far as I know, it doesn't exist in a right hand drive configuration...
Good luck...I can't believe there is nothing online about why...maybe I'll try a couple of Lincoln-devoted forums and ask them.
@@principeraphael4859 All of the Lincoln Continental sedans and convertibles from 1961-1969 has the wipers in that direction. I has a 1964. They worked beautifully, and you has really good visibility. It was always a very distinctive feature when they were operating. Just another look to set that car apart from the others.
Beautiful car, but what's the point of the hudcaps on and of in some parts of the video?
Thanks for watching! The hubcaps fell off due to some garage having fitted clip-on wheel balancing weights on the rims. We couldn't fix that on time for the video, so we left them off during driving to prevent losing them.
Ahhh okay. ;)
Where are the hubcaps???? And why are the tires mismatched??
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, the hubcaps fell off during driving, so we had to leave them off for the remainder of the video.
@@LCR sad really and for such a fate to befall such a fine car as well
Yes I agree. But rest assured that they're back on the vehicle. They're better secured now.
4:35 why under the hood old cars always look so cramped?
Because it has a very large 7.6 liter engine, and all the parts are mechanical rather than electronic. That takes in a lot of space.
These tank do damage to potholes
Poor baby need a restoration, especially the paint in areas. Where's the hub caps on the left side?
Yes, there are some spots unfortunately. I still think the condition after 49 years is amazing though. The hubcaps fell off due to some garage having fitted clip-on wheel balancing weights on the rims. We couldn't fix that on time for the video, so we left them off during driving to prevent losing them.
Where are the wheel cabs?
They fell off.
No "road feel" and air conditioning. It DOESN'T get any better. I know 1968 was the first year some cars got it standard. I'll bet Lincoln was one such make.
Yes! The good old isolating "living rooms" on wheels. Real comfort = real luxury. And great design too.
8 mpg up hill or down
You mean upstream or downstream? ;-)
Well... was it '67 or '68?
+B3burner It was built in '67, but the model year is '68.
The upper model year actually starts August or September of the previous year. Example: a '68 model can be made as early as August, 1967.

Hi David, I just took a look at your Mercury and it looks stunning! Almost like new. Love the mascots, too! That red velour interior is amazing. I like it much better than leather. It looks very sharp indeed, being a coupe and with those red paint stripes on the sides. It must be very comfortable to drive, too!
Are there any pics of the Mustang?
You couldn't spend the effort to film it with all its wheel covers?
The hubcaps fell off due to some garage having fitted clip-on wheel balancing weights on the rims. We couldn't fix that on time for the video, so we left them off during driving to prevent losing them.
Luxury Car Report, got it. Thanks so much. Terrific cars, and that '67 is looking very correct and original.
Thank you for the compliment! It has some spots but the owners work hard on preserving the car in good original condition.
JSD HK, 1968. And i thinkt that it adds to the respectable unrestored original condition of the car.
Is this a joke? Missing hub caps, rust, etc. It's a joke
The hubcaps fell off due to some garage having fitted clip-on wheel balancing weights on the rims. We couldn't fix that on time for the video, so we left them off during driving to prevent losing them.
The car has been restored though, last summer. All the rust spots have been repaired. I am sorry we couldn't show that back when we were shooting the video.
markapool, it is still a very respectable car in that condition, almost like a time capsule.
I might be interested....but I'm not.
Why not?
well, I'm just not too into a half century old pile of rubbish
Then it's surprising that you landed on this video, because it centers around a half century old pile of rubbish.
yeah I know. it's weird what turns up in your "suggested videos"
chieftp, it is a vintage classic antique vehicle that was made better and nicer than todays new pile of rubbish.
