    Thank you so much for this review/show. It's a pain to try out different aps and PAs now that loads of music shops are just online, so your video has helped me with my decision. It helps that you are clearly a talented player and singer... Bose should hire you to do the demos!

    First, thanks for the review! Second, ugh. Thanks Bose. LOL. I just bought 2 of the old S1 Pro models less than a year ago, and now they come out with this upgraded version. The major upgrade as far as I can see is no more physical knobs! I had to build a custom road case with lots of foam to protect my very expensive Bose S1 Pros from breaking the knobs off during transport.
    Also, when I looked this on Sweetwater, the guitar and mic wireless dongles are NOT included in the base product. So, 699 for the S1 Pro+, then an additional 300 for the two wireless dongles. PLUS they are 2.4GHz - which is always going to be problematic in a packed venue. I have no idea why Bose didn't go with a 5.8GHz wireless system. So, that's a thousand bucks for just ONE S1 Pro+ with iffy 2.4GHz wireless capabilities. You buy a second S1 Pro+, and now you're looking at nearly 2000 bucks with tax.
    I mean, I love love love my S1 Pros. They are an insanely good piece of kit, but I cannot justify selling them and buying the new, improved S1 Pro+. Yet. I may have to revisit my opinion on these if they upgrade to 5.8GHz wireless, but for now I'll schlep along with my "old" S1 Pros, protected in multiple layers of foam padding to save the precious physical knobs, and a couple of inexpensive standalone 5.8GHz wireless units to connect my guitar and mic to the pair. The sound quality with the "old" S1 pro is exactly the same as the "new" S1 Pro+, so that's good.

    Seeing this in the wild, I guarantee I’ll not hear anything come out of it as jammy as that Easy like Sunday morning tune! Whenever I recognize your demo tunes, I grab my guitar & work out the details.
    Good piece of kit for a 2 channel PA, the insert function is a nice touch, but might make you tethered to a wall plug (for a pedal board) when one of the big functions of this system is it’s battery. I bet hooking up a Fender Mustang Micro would make this a completely wireless system with an electric guitar.

    One more thing - does the new S1 Pro+ allow wireless connections between two units to share channels one and two? The S1 Pro does, but ONLY with input from Channel 3 - in other words, bluetooth streaming. If you want to share channels one and two with a separate unit, you have to use a cable and the line out on one speaker, over to a channel in the second speaker, which is lame. I mean, OBVIOUSLY the capability is there because you are able to wirelessly connect two units to stream bluetooth audio to both speakers, so why in the world can't you do the same thing with channels one and two? That little thing has always irked me about the old S1 Pro.

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, Channel 3 is the dedicated bluetooth channel still. 1 & 2 only work with the transmitters or a wired input as far as I know.

    • @TheRealBrentRasmussen
      @TheRealBrentRasmussen Před rokem +1

      @@JayLeonardJ Thanks for the info. What I was talking about is CONNECTING two units together wirelessly. You CAN do this in the Bose Connect app on the old models, but ONLY with channel 3 (the bluetooth channel). If you want to sing and play guitar into channels one and two on one unit, then connect a SECOND unit to mirror the sound on the first unit (or go stereo), you CANNOT connect them wirelessly, you must use the 1/4" line-out and a 1/4" to XLR balanced cable to go the channel one on the second unit. It would be awesome if you didn't have to use that cable. Then, you could be truly wireless with two Bose S1 Pros, instead of having them connected by a cable to get sound to both speakers. I know, I know, it's a small nitpick, but I always wondered why they can do it for channel 3, but NOT for channels one and two. It must be something very technical that I am not aware of. :)

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  Před rokem

      Ooh, great question, not sure about that. I would ask the Bose team about that one!

    • @TheSingingDoctor325
      @TheSingingDoctor325 Před rokem +1

      You can connect them via BT but only for streaming music via channel 3. If you want your mic, guitar or anything else plugged into channels 1 or 2 to play through 2 speakers at once, you have to physically connect the speakers via an XLR cable. This is also the requirement for the Everse 8.

    • @marcelchaloupka
      @marcelchaloupka Před rokem +1

      Not wirelessly but you can wire two units together. I also believe that the new Bose music app that replaces to old connect and other apps, allows you to stream music wirelessly via Bluetooth to both speakers

    hi Jay......trying to compare your sound between bose s1 pro + and L1 pro 8 ......your voice is less present on the S1 pro demo for i guess you're a little bit too far from the mic and it looses it's wet side then it's hard for me to hear the difference between the two ....(i'm a singer)...i had to give up my L1 pro 8 because of it's weight and back issues but i hesitate with the S1 pro because i have the feeling the sound is not as present and round as with the L1 pro 8 and i'm afraid it wouldn't be sufficient to play for terraces of bars and private beaches...what's your opinion??

    • @marcelchaloupka
      @marcelchaloupka Před rokem +1

      I see a lot of people using the previous version outside and it’s surprisingly loud and covers a large area. But at the end of the day it is what it is and it’s not a full blown PA system and have a specific uses case. But if you need more grunt then you can use two of these speakers and if needed add a sub like a bose sub1 or sub2 or any other sim on the market and then if you really need more grunt that you could add an L1 Pro 32 column to the set up and use the S1 Pro+/s as monitors. There are a lot of ways to use it while being able to scale to any venue and audience size.

      Idk, for what it is if the performance can match that of the L1 Compact I’d say it’s well worth the price. Sound quality, ease of setup and ease of use are all valuable things. I thought they were insane with the L1 series pricing but after I made the purchase, it’s wayyyyy worth every penny and paid for itself within a week or two in new bookings.
      If this thing can fill a room the similarly with sound it could be a good back pocket piece of kit for when I want that Bose sound but don’t wanna bring out the larger systems because I’m playing through a house system. Hmmm, interesting

      And sure it comes with a basic reverb. Want more? Use the effects loop capabilities and then you can use any effects you own which will always be better than any backed in effects.
