Don’t forget that some models have curved mirrors installed on the rear inside pillars by the rear window. You can look into the mirrors and see on either side of you when trying to back out of a parking space with vehicles parked beside you and blocking your view. Also, in the back cargo area there are little knobs that can be used to hang grocery bags on. It will prevent the contents of the bags from being tossed about when driving.

I have a 2006 - love it. You missed two small points. When you open the glove box and squeeze in the sides you get easy access to change the cabin air filter. Also when you remove the divider in the coffee cup holder you can lift out the rubber mat easily to clean it. I could tell you didn't know that one. Ha!

Another one he missed is that you don't have to hold the key to start it, you can turn it to crank and let go and it will keep cranking until it starts. So like a precursor to push button start!

Thanks for showing us those features. I wish that Toyota would have videos like this when you purchase your vehicle. I’ve had mine 14 years and just learned about the seat to bed conversion and sliding the cup holder left or right for drinks. Great assumption on the purpose of the reclining seat, trash can and tissue holder. Pretty sure that was the purpose of the design. 😉

You have plenty of passenger room, cargo capacity and since the passenger seat lays flat and rear window lowers, you can haul long pieces of lumber or other items from home depot without having to tie it down!

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever Před 2 lety

I prefer to haul a few 2x4s or pipes on the roof rack. I carry 1" nylon cam buckle straps for that. A trailer is the best option for plywood. A $600 folding Harbor Freight trailer can haul 1700 pounds... more than my old Tacoma could haul, and a stronger trailer can haul 5000 pounds, which is the towing limit of my 2005 V6 4Runner.

Just found this video as I was researching fixes for the well known cracked dash. Thank you for creating it, very helpful. Your observations along with the outstanding condition of your 2004 4th Gen is yet another reminder of why I am so glad I acquired a 2004 SR5 with the V8. I prefer the 4th Gen full time 4 wheel drive with V8 over the 5th Gen where only the Limited offers full time 4x4 and with no options for a V8. I’ve invested $$ rebuilding various systems but well worth it. Again, thank you for posting this video. Sincerely,

That trash can thing is actually really clever. We use to own a CRV and we kept a small trash can jammed in that same spot... odd thing with the CRV (it was a 2013 model) they actually included a legit table in the back. You could pull it out, fold out the legs and set it up like any other folding table. It was a really neat feature, but honestly, I don't think we ever used it.

Heya. I have a 2006 Toyota 4runner with 275k miles on the chassis and frame, and 171k on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain (2007 parts). My engine has the check engine light, VSC Off, VSC TRAC, and traction control light lit up like a Christmas tree on my dash. Also, at very low speeds and at low throttle, this sound from exhaust (I don't know if my cats are shot) is like a high-pitched rattling sound, NOT like a rock bouncing around on youtube videos you'd look up online about shot cats. My O2 sensors are all new and have been replaced WITH spacers on them. I took my car to the local automotive shop, they said to fix this they would need to mess with the exhaust, put new O2 sensors on and take the spacers off, then diagnose from there to see what's wrong. It's going to be expensive from them... I also am wanting to do this myself... I have a mechanic friend that told me that my cats need to be replaced but I'm not so sure it's the problem just yet... Any suggestions?

The Walmart Bags with handles can be put in the trash bag holder by looping the top of the bag over the loop then pushing the bag handles through the little notches in the bottom side of that loop.
And our 2006 has small mirrors in the inside upper corners of the rear roof post that gives you the ability to look in the windshield mounted mirror and look at them to see to the sides of the rear of the car to prevent you from running over people in the parking lots. And see oncoming cars if your eyesight is good.
We have over 260K miles on ours and it still drives and looks like a new one onff the show room. We are about to go across Texas in ours and have no fear it won't make it there and back.

Mine is due for a paint job to the point the clear and base coat is done from the sun. The car is mechanically sound and trust worthy. You forgot to mention the rear window wiper turns on without notice when starting the vehicle meaning the battery is at low capacity. That feature I really like.

Works for pass & driver, Toyota calls it social seating. Great for Drive In Movies & more head room

I use plastic grocery bags in the folding trash can. The owner's manual says the frame is designed for grocery bags but it's not very intuitive. Pull the loop handles of the bag up through the frame, wrap them over the side arms and secure them in the hooks on the underneath side of the frame. They aren't well secured, but good enough. There are non-Toyota small tissue boxes that fit the center console, and both front seats can be made into a bed by removing the head rest and folding the back to the rear, not just the passenger seat. This is true fot power seats or manual seats.

Great now everybody's going to know about that secret compartment! Toyota Tissues and Toyota Trashbags must be expensive. I take the lower part of the back seat out and fold the backs down for car camping inside.

my back lock doesn't roll down the window. i think i prefer it that way. the switch up front still works, so it's not completely broken. the fob does nothing at all, so that'll be another 30-some bucks

That Toyota of yours is in remarkable condition for a 2004. You have obviously taken superb care of it. It looks brand new in and out especially being a Delaware vehicle. Greatly admire your channel. Still jealous of your Mercedes and the PPV Impala. Would love to find one of those here in Florida in the condition yours is in

Wow, thanks so much for the kind words and yeah, Delaware weather here isn't kind to cars. And thanks for the compliment about what I'm doing here on CZcams. As for auctions near you, be sure to check out GovDeals. They host the auctions for a bunch of towns and cities in FL so hopefully there's some here you. Good luck!
