The man Lindros didn't want to play for Quebec. The Flyers pick up a leader and a great player. So who knows what will happen, it may be a blessing for the Flyers.
Eric Lindros was the WORST thing that EVER happened to the Flyers . He cost the 3 first round draft picks , not to mention Peter Forsberg , their best two defensemen in Steve Duchesne and Kerry Huffman .and Mike Ricci , plus 15 million dollars ! Peter Forsberg ALONE was better than Eric Lindros plus they gave up the rest listed above . Eric NEVER came through when the money was on the line NEVER ! He was a locker room cancer to boot . By the way that trade won the Nordiques ? Avalanche two Stanley Cups . He was the most OVERRATED hockey player in history !
@@mikecolangelo4895Sure bud 🤡🤡🤡
Another example of Elliott taking everyone else’s information, presenting it with conviction like he had some kind of inside track, and then insinuating he broke a story. He’s like a comedian that steals jokes but changes the variables
Cutter, bro, everyone hates you just own it no need for burners.
Yeah like the gm or owner is going to call him up and tell him otherwise.
Err he's an insider. That's what insiders do. They have sources and they present information based off those sources.
Elliot knows a hell of a lot more than you homey.
Elliott, simply stated that unless there are definitive discussions. Folks are going to assume that it was, or is Tortorella related. That was clearly stated, did you miss hearing that????.
I'm not a Flyers fan, but on hearing the Cutter situation, my first thought was "Tortorella". Heck he's a tough guy to like, much like iron Mike Keenan he has a limited shelf life. Especially with the new modern athletes. But overall I think that the Flyers management solution is correct and proper. Just saying.
Bridges get burned everyday. This isn't new. It's really funny to see a teenager making people so pressed lol. Just relax people.
Exactly!
I don’t blame the kid for not wanting to sign. As you see flyers fans are toxic and trashy
The league won't last long if prima donnas like this start taking over the game. It renders the draft meaningless.
Nice STORY Friedman
"not received the way it was intended" - I mean, or received that way. If Gauthier's NHL career was postponed a year because of Philly's cap management, then good intentions aren't a consolation prize. I'm not saying he's ready for the bigs, but if they don't sign one of their best prospects, it's on them.
Sung to "Strutter" by Kiss:
I know a thing or two about him
I know he'll only make Flyers cry
He'll let you draft him high
But when he wants he'll pass them by
Everybody says he plays real good
And the Ducks know it's understood
CUTTER!
Kiss is a bunch of no talent crossdressers . They are consistent in that all of their songs suck.
One big nothing burger! So what? Guy doesn’t want to play for Philadelphia. Who can blame him? The Flyers & their fans will live.
Most players don't want to play for Philly. It's why they've been rebuilding for many years.
The NHL might not live though. May as well just eliminate the draft.
As a flyers fan I rather have done what we did - much prefer cutter to speak up now then in year demand a trade while his ceiling may not be as high. Good riddance and good luck. Happy with the return man.
Cutter seems like a soft boy thats why he wanted to get into the soft and relaxing environment in Anaheim :DD. He wants nothing to do with Tortorella or the flyers.
@@valitsemllaluokanavahyvaks3556 ?? Don't know where you got this from? He's changed his own game. At Worlds, he handled faceoffs and had won 72/117 for Team USA. He turned from volume of shots to handling more f/offs.
@@2Jim2u He pulled it out of his ass that's where. The guy never put pen to paper so you never had him. It's that simple
@@valitsemllaluokanavahyvaks3556Have you watched the kid at BC & WJC?
The only 2 players who play remotely as "heavy" as Gauthier are Ryan Leonard & Rutger McGroarty.
Say what you want about Gauthier bc you're mad he forced his way out, but the kid is FAR from soft & he would have been an ALL TIME Tortorella FAVORITE.
This is the right attitude to have. You don't want players on the roster who don't want to be there. Way more fun when you know the players feel attachment to the franchise.
Cutter's dad was a very popular player in Sweden with both his teammates and fans and nothing I've seen about his son makes think he's a bad person or anything... good luck in Anaheim
They need more teams in Cali so players can lay in the sun.
Your top prospect in College is asking to sign a contract - you give him a contract. Sorry we don’t want you around because of a minuscule cap penalty next year that we can easily absorb. Flyers had 3 Mil in cap space before the drysdale trade.
He wasn't ready for the NHL. He would have failed if he came when he wanted to.
@@MrBeenushe would’ve failed? We’re talking April 2023, the last week or two of a failed season. Get him with the coaching staff, a taste of pro hockey and then play in the AHL if he proves not to be ready for NHL. Certainly a better outcome than having to trade him.
@@97Jam No it's not. He's obviously very immature and would've probably been like PLD. Getting Jamie Drysdale was a great move as he is already our best defenseman.
Flyers will have michkov here in a few years they will sign a big name fa power forward who will want to play here and help him win a cup........flyers also have a boatload of draft picks in the next few years from good trades made in the last year. Flyers are on the way up
bank on it
Cutter is gonna regret not signing with us.
@@MrBeenus 😂
@@joetamburello6292 He's going to when we win a cup before Anaheim.
@@MrBeenus 😂
@@joetamburello6292 Get your laughs in while you can. I'm gonna screenshot this and come back to it in a couple years.
The up and coming US players are starting to look like the up and coming Russian players of the early 2000s
??
US players are looking like the prima donnas we see in other sports. They have been coddled much of their hockey lives.
This "insider" take is full of nothing. Summary without the floundering and repeated phrases: "until I'm told what happened, I'm choose to believe he asked for assurances about making the team and didn't get them." So, do you know ANYTHING?
Also, that barely counts as miscommunication compared to Lindros and his father at the end of their time with the team.
Sports journalists are the worst. They are just fan boys without a smidgen of curiosity.
You just have to read between the lines: I think the cap space thing is just an excuse to save face: their recent 5th overall wanted to sign with them but they didn't think he was ready. Then Kevin Hayes told him what it was like to be in Torts' doghouse.
Maybe he saw the rioting & looting that wasn't prosecuted in Philly over the summer and thought it would be best to play and live somewhere else. OC is not far from LA which would be similar to Philly but, things are different in OC where the Ducks practice and training facilty is in Irvine
I would just say you never know what non-hockey issues might have led to the trade demand.
It’s no coincidence that no good players want to play for Tortorella. He’s an archaic coach whose style is counter productive to players looking to become elite. If you want to be diving in front of pucks and never go far in the playoffs if you even make them, he’s your coach.
he also defended a homophobic player just last season who refused to participate in pride events, some ppl have lgbtq family. there are personal reason this could happen too, i would not be surprised in the least.
Bingo
If Gauthier is getting butthurt over a franchise being mindful of their salary cap picture, is that not enough of a red flag? I'm not sure I want anyone who exudes that level of entitlement in any organization that I run
this kid is going to be the next alexander galchenyuk.
Briere said that Gauthier changed his mind two months after being drafted, which coincides with when Tortorella was hired. Since the lockout, Tortorella has coached like 15 seasons of hockey. During that time, the only rookie forwards who developed into top 6ers under his watch were Chris Kreider and Derek Stepan.
Cutter is looking out for his own career instead of being a martyr, which top picks are routinely pressured into being.
B Richards, V Lecavalier, M St Louis, F Modin. I guess you didn't watch the early 2000s TBL.
@@TMLJunKlooks like you don’t realize that style of hockey that worked 20 years ago doesn’t work anymore.
@@SurfinCowboy5615 The OP's broad statement about Torts not being able to develop top 6 forwards was ridiculous, so I felt like pointing a few things out. Also, Torts has been developing top 6 forwards at pretty much every team he's gone to. Callahan, Anisimov, Stepan, Hagelin, Wennberg, Josh Anderson, Bjorkstrand, Jenner, etc.
@@TMLJunKbingo
@@TMLJunKliterally the only player you named that was a true top 6 forward was Stepan. You’re coming off as a guy that wants to sleep with Tortorella. Bro named a bunch of low 30-40 point scorers that are mostly 3rd line grinders and claimed they are top 6 forwards Tortorella developed.
Even people who live in Philly don't want to live in Philly.
I thought It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia!!
It’s a great city to visit but I prefer to live in rural PA and cheer on my Flyers from my family room.
Isn't Kensington one of the better parts of Philly?@@AttilatheThrilla
Philthadelphia
All I can say is not a good way to start a career. ask Eric Lindros you carry it forever
I don't get this
It's easy, the problem is Torts.
Who cares. He can say what he wants
Nope sorry I live your scoop but I’m flyers fan, he wants to show off and Philly is a grind em team no Michigan’s here. It’s just the kids now coming up they all want to show off ever since Mc David cane that’s it the new stile for the #1 picks anyway
Screw Philly ! Good Luck Cutter 🇺🇸🦅
The guy sounds like he's got some quit in him. Maybe I'm wrong.
Move over JD Drew!
I know junior players there heads are clubs, chicks, show off in games it’s all bout that now only reason he wants to be in Anaheim
ok, you freakin' geniuses, it's so incredibly simple... cutter gauthier is a lil' c-word. end of story.
meh, maybe he just wants to show his leadership in the primadonna ranks of the nhl.
He sounds like a noload before he's played game 1
Look cutter wants to be seen showboating like the ducks love that stuff Philly is not a showboat team cutter wants to Michigan in every game. It’s new nhl showboating
Other reports say that the Flyers wanted him to turn pro at that time, and he did not.
that is nonsense. they refused to sign him to his entry level and he didn't want to return to college, wtf are you talking about??
@@7jcjg Simply restating what other sources (Kevin Kurz, The Athletic's Flyers beat writer) reported earlier, Mrs. Gauthier. I'm sure your son is a great kid. Here's the quote --------
"The Flyers had engaged in early contract talks with Gauthier’s camp after his freshman season at Boston College and were prepared to sign Gauthier as far back as May 2023, after he impressed at the IIHF World Championships in Finland and Latvia for Team USA. Gauthier posted seven goals and nine points in 10 games in the tournament, and after watching him play, the Flyers believed Gauthier might be closer to being NHL-ready than they originally anticipated. They were ready to intensify talks about a contract."
That's wtf I'm talking about, you clown. Next time get your own subscription.
@@7jcjg It has not been proven in any way shape or form that he shut them out over his ELC. It's actually quite a bit more likely that he had a bad experience with someone in the organization and doesn't want it made public. But feel free to take speculation as fact.
@@7jcjg They took down my other post (in which I provided quotes and ripped you mercilessly), but suffice it to say, I was simply referring to an article written by the Flyers beat writer.
Mr Marek, I'm kind of surprised that the Flyers only got Drysdale and a Second round draft for him, if it says anything. Flyers should have had a look at prospects that could have helped Flyers, coming back. I'm hoping Gaucher, and others, start getting seen.
Drysdale was very highly rated in his draft year, he’s had some injuries but if he gains the form expected of him the trade could be a wash.
@@plrt6794 Plus Anaheim was defense-heavy in prospects.
@@Kokobazonkos nope, not me. I hope Gauthier lights it up in Anaheim, but I hope some of their top young talent in San Diego can find new homes, if they're not given a chance to light it up in Anaheim, right. 1st round prospects just sitting in San Diego because of lineup card in NHL.
We'll see if Anaheim meets his highness' royal standards.
The man Lindros didn't want to play for Quebec. The Flyers pick up a leader and a great player. So who knows what will happen, it may be a blessing for the Flyers.
let’s be honest , who would want to play there? toxic all around
Who cares, let the kiddo pout and play somewhere else. Good luck to ya sparky. Move on folks
I'm a die hard Avs fan, if I was drafted by them (Avalanche) and Torts was the coach I think I'd rather play for Buffalo.
Elliot stop talking like a creepy guy looking in people's bedroom Windows, Man this guy is creepy
Baby refusing to meet or communicate...waaaaaaah. Pacifiers will be at the ready when he comes to Philly...lol.
I'm not a Flyers fan but I can't fault any player for doing what they think is best for their career, given how short the career window.
But I gotta say, even as a Rangers/Panthers fan, I was excited to see Michkov & Gauthier bully the Eastern Conference for the next 10 years.
(Yes I know it's a weird team mix lol, I'm a mid-30s former NYer who moved to Ft. Lauderdale for good in 2022)
The NHL may as well just eliminate then draft then if players are going to dictate where they play.
very Lindrosian move! doesn't reflect well on him
Man, Drysdale is going to be a 10 year top 4 defenseman in the league. Great trade by Philly for someone that wants to be a FLYER.
Has Drysdale said he wants to be a FLYER? Maybe he liked being a DUCK?
Fair point. It sounded like Cutter definitely did NOT want to be a Flyer. Wish both the best.
Could the Oilers somehow scoop this kid up??
Ask Anaheim Ducks they traded Drysdale for him today
Why would he want to come to the frozen tundra of Northern Canada?
Maybe Fletcher should have tried harder to sell JVR at the deadline.
Ducks paid waaaaayyy too much. Also if sports history proves one thing over and over again - it's "Don't bring a head-case into your locker room". Now, just watch. He'll be a nightmare for the Ducks, and may tell Verbeek he's staying in Uni and will pursue free agency.
Baseless and completely fabricated nonsense.
That's not gonna happen, he's signing after his college season
Overrated anyways
Never know, you might be eating those words one day
He’s an American no wonder
Yeah Americans just won the Juniors tournament Dumbo.

No. @@edrobinson998
Hey, Alex Kerfoot didn't sign with New Jersey, Ryan Graves didn't sign with NY Rangers, Zach Hyman didn't sign with Florida
He’s one player… move on.
I heard that Kevin Hayes got in his ear. Hayes is an overpaid loafer, so I wouldn't be surprised. Either way, a 19 year old doesn't get to call the shots unless he's a generational prospect. This kid has a big head and a soft psyche. He'll do better in Disneyland with Mickey Mouse -- Philly would have chewed him up when he failed to perform. Hopefully Drysdale is a keeper
Don't be dumb. Hayes has nothing to do with it.
Wishing the man a long daigle career, so soft from him. Bad mark in your character
Is it possible he didn’t want to have anything to do with John tortorella? Any sane person wouldn’t.
Yeah if you're soft! But Cam Atkinson and TK love him! If you are a hard worker you will love him!
Torts is a horrendous hypocrite. He has no integrity and is hard to take seriously.
Like him or hate him (and I live in Vancouver) he's worked a miracle with this team.
@@basilmcdonnell9807Yes. He has done extremely well in several places - despite him being a total DB. In fact, his success spurs others on to act like DB's in a misguided attempt to have similar success.
