Don't be sad they were being honest with you. That bike is super sketch but I don't think you should give up on it. This whole process is you learning to build a bike. That's what you wanted wasn't it a house and a build garage. Do what you love man.

My 2000 gixxa 6hundgy was crapping out at highway speeds, spluttering & dying. Would restart after while. Took off the tank & gave it a good clean. Removed the fuel pump, it had soooooo much gunk sitting around the bottom, I couldn't believe it was running at all. Gave the fuel pump a goooooood clean up & put it back in. Now my 20 year old fuel pump is work properly & the bike is running like a new one. For those of us who live from pay2pay...Before buying new shit, try fix the old stuff & just some regular maintenance.

The gsxr has potential. Put a new fuel pump in, get it running good, and do the blue and white Suzuki theme. Full fairing too.
Check map sensor it has a vent hose it's not plugged in it'll act up map sensor could be bad aswell

I'm no mechanic but I will rebuild your whole bike man give me a day lol make sure everything is clean and clearances are good then you should be golden sound how my old gsxr sounded it had jump a tooth when they set it it was a valve hitting at higher speed scarry shit if it brakes on the free way with cars in back but it was OK made it ..
so new tank all together and fuel pump should solve it hopefully?

Me and buddy built bikes in far worse conditions, you have the drive and potential to make it happen broth.
You think it could be the kickstand spring? Very rare but at full throttle the vibrations can make a bad kickstand spring loosen a bit and activate the kill mechanism. Maybe check on it, it‘s 1 in a million but it might be it ;)

The tank on the GSXR was sitting outside with no cap on it for god knows how long. Of course it's going to be filled with rust and garbage. All Maxy did was take a garden hose and rinse it out.
I've said it before I think it's the fuel pump my bike used to start and idle but run like shit when trying to get on it it would run like shit. The pump was only pushing 15psi when it should of been 40psi fitted new fuel pump and it was a complete animal ✌
I said gsxr was shot. But if you enjoy spending time on it- better for us. I would scrap that and start with a bit better bike. Loved the part where the guys see the tank and says: first you get rid of this tank :D:D:D so much man hour on that :D

Maxy no need to buy a new fuel tank , just go and buy a fuel tank sealer like POR 15 , my tank was so rusty and i put it in it and I’ve changed the fuel filter and it runs like a SUPER HERO
