I have an 01 Gsxr 750. My brother bought the bike brand new back then. He passed away unexpectedly back in 2007 at the age of 27. I will never part with that bike.
That is sad :( Do you ride it some times ?
What what about 2002 Suzuki bandit need pairing fairing
My brother got killed on his 2008
It's always great to see the old wizard working his magic on bikes.
It's nice to see my old Gsxr1000K2 still in action.
One fairing lower was a bit dodgy but it only had around 10k miles on it when i sold it to Regal Superbikes.
If you want any further pics of it, gimme a shout👌
so was James right about the touch down? 😅
@FortyFourTeeth i never dropped it under my ownership but i'm certain the right side fairing panel had been repainted, badly.
I bought the bike over the internet as i had a L3 millionth edition, a k4, an L7 RR and a k5 so it was part of my collection.
Bike ran sweet as a nut. I'm the guilty party with the coppaslip on the rear of the pads though as there were no anti-squeal shims. I know what James was saying but the pistons come in contact with the rear of the pads and metal to metal with even a tiny amount of lateral movement does squeal.
Stunning bike though Chris and they are going up the way in value.
With that mileage, it's at least a £4k bike, maybe more.
@@FortyFourTeethDid Chris get them glasses off Bubbles from trailer park boys 🥸
This video forces me to buy one. Can't stand it anymore. I have a turboBusa but want something lighter the older I get
@GSXR1300T great choice, ols school physically big bike but sub 200kg's, big comfy rider and pillion seats, very easy to straight bar as well should you decide to👌
Seeing the guys all together at JHS giving this classic machine some love gives me the same feeling I get watching videos of sea otters holding hands.
Ah yes, when the proportions of a sport bike were absolutely perfect👍🏻
Love a clean un-molested Gixer.
James is a gem. Can tell he is so passionate and happy to share his knowledge. A good mechanic.
"Love a clean un-molested Gixer." This is underrated comment.
I have yet seen a single gixxer-boy tuned GSX-R which looks or feels any better than decently tuned up orininal...
Gixxer-boys are just serial-r@pists in bike world...😁
I had this exact bike, same colours inc black wheels. It was life changing for me. Owned it for a decade, (it’s the bike in my avatar). Best bike I ever owned. Did all the Yoshi mods (cams, full exhaust, Powercube), then went nuts and full internals. Ohlins, and big Brembos. Loved this bike.
"Changed bikes as we know it this did."
Very pleased to hear that. The original R1 gets the litre sportsbike plaudits, but for me this is far more significant.
Like James said, these were EFI and could turn. The R1 was fast, but it was wide and heavy at the time. I remember these ruled local provincial superbike 2001-2004 until the ZX10R showed up.
Love this bike, remember DJ dominating the TT in 02 on these…….he claimed it was the only bike that passed his V&M Yam back in the day! Looking forward to this project 👍🏻
Nice to see you guys getting some bigger sponsors in eBay. Hopefully this leads to more content cause i love this channel 😂
What a beauty! An old GSXR that hasn't been ruined by some Chad is a rare thing indeed.
My first bike was a 2001-GSXR-600 and i absolutely loved it. Fantastic bike. Absolutely bullet proof.
Now this takes me back! I had one exactly the same, the exact colour way! What a treat to watch!!! And your right, they feel raw and very fast for their time! I can remember being able to clutch that thing up on one wheel even at triple figures! Very very jealous wish I’d kept mine. Enjoy guys 🤜🤛
I love these models! I still have a 2001 GSXR 1000. Over 90,000 kms. Thrilling to ride and beautiful to look at. It has the titanium exhaust and power commander. I don't think I will ever part with it!
Love that you guys fuck around with these older bikes that are actually possible to buy for a random guy
never been a massive Suzuki fan but my god this bike is beautiful
I could watch videos like these every day...
I've gone all glassy eyed, bought one just like this in 2002 ....she's a beauty ❤
I used to have big sport bikes in the 80s and 90s . I had a GPZ 600 and 900 and then a slabby gsxr1100 but the bike that changed it for me was my 1999 kawasaki zx9rC2. It was a dream compared to the B model and miles more comfy than that years fireplace which to be fair was a better track bike. I still have my C2 and don't think I'll ever part with it 👍👍
Can you imagine a well filmed documentary with the guys from 44 teeth covering the evolution of the Suzuki GSXR ? That would be something watching more than once
Late '90s and early '00s were the absolute pinnacle of sport bikes.
began from Amazing SRAD750 '96, then K1 750, 1000.
1000K3-4 ,most beautiful gsxr 1000 ever.
I am a massive fan of James , Chris , Fagan and Boothy.
We love you all , sorry for the few I missed that work with James.
Del Bollox been there with the copperslip?
She's just beyond being beautiful ❤. One of my favorite model the K1 & K2 1000cc. I once owned a Suzuki GSXR-1000 K2 but sadly it got stolen 😢. Don't sell it mate, keep this legendary bike, ride it because you're gonna love it every single time you'll take her out for a ride ❤. Ride safe !! 25:55
Matt Mladin + Ben Spies + this bike = Legend
I owned a 99 R1 when this bike came out, I had ridden most big sport bikes at the time and nothing compared to the R1, until I rode this, I was blown away. Beautiful engine, it’s a shame it’s a Suzuki though.
Enjoyed that, thanks Chris.
Finally a decent 44 teeth episode I'm interested in.....
Beautiful looking bike that so deserves the love lads, awesome work and copper grease advice!
I’ve got a K2, fuel filter in tank needed replacing symptoms irrational running, stripped and rebuilt callipers with new SS pistons, Brembo pads, Googridge braided lines and it was awesome once more. I didn’t need new discs but would prefer to have gold carriers!
Rear mud guard had been butchered as had the subframe luggage hooks, luckily new and used parts were cheap at the time.
Later I replaced the suspension with Maxton GP 10 rear shock and fork internals. ❤😊
I had simular running issues with my R1 that did my head in for ages.
It was the injectors clogged by old fuel.
I emptied the petrol tank and filled it with shell v power along with a bottle of moto power 1 injector cleaner and it went away completely!
Worth a try.
Thrilled to see our GRmoto exhaust featured on this channel! The before-and-after sound comparison truly captures the transformative experience our exhaust offers. For all enthusiasts watching: this is the distinct GRmoto sound in action. Thank you for showcasing our dedication to quality and performance. Ride on! 🏍 #GRmotoSound
The good old k1/k2 1000 that killed off the R1 back in the day 😂
What a bike, what an era. Got one of these in 2001 couldn’t wheelie. 4 Sundays later clutched up balance point 2nd 3rd gear ton up monos… Flipped on the motorway, high sides on track broken leg and still got it in the garage. But what a bike it was. Great memories 😅 K6, ZX10, S1000RR etc later and still at it just not on the road 😎
Love seeing the modern classics!
Gorgeous bike. Can’t wait to more on this legend!
Dear God... at last someone with an authorized opinion settles the Copper Grease nonsense down .. Thanks for that Mr James Holland, and thanks to BVG for getting the attention to that.
p.s. These 6 pot calipers, with those very long brake pads, have a tendency to develop a groove or some other word for it, where the pad rests (lower side of the caliper, next to the lower/smaller piston). The rear, single piston Tokicos come from Factory (at least in my zx6r J series) with a Metal Clip that should prevent this, but most people I've seen never cares to make sure that clip is installed.
Great to see James again, haven’t seen him for ages!
bought one of these babies brand new and had another second hand ,love that theres no bullshittery on these ,just power ,quit big and comfy as well
Great to see this. The glory days of superbikes! Loved my K4 and K7.
Love these videos with James.
That is one mint bike. Always loved the K1/2 Gixer family.
Love that we have gone back yo basics.
New drinking game: take a shot every time you hear ‘eBay’. You’ll be blind before you’re halfway through the video 😂
I stopped watching halfway thru.
Waa, waa, waa I want to have well produced entertainment and not have to give anything for it!
@@lukasgarage956you are a bit of a sad count aren't you mate
These lads make amazing content. It takes time, skill, talent and a natural charisma, something Chris has in spades.
Funnily enough he also needs to eat, keep out of the rain and be the best dad he can be
Sponsors help. Don’t be negative. Life is too short
It states in the description that the video is in collaboration with eBay. Nothing wrong with some sponsoring, so we can all enjoy the free content.
If you’re grumpy and like complaining, maybe some old Top Gear episodes with Jeremy Clarkson suit you better.
Gotta love a Gixxa. I had that shape in a 750 but have had a K5 1000 for 18 years now. Absolutely love it - awesome bike
What a gem of a bike.
Fit a yoshi tri oval, throw a filter, sort the few bits, full service and leave it as is maybe?
I had the 600cc of the same year, still miss that bike.
its a fun episode, thanks 44 bros
Gorgeous bike. Miss my K3, K4, K6 and K7. Had a few over the years. Hopefully land any one of those in the new year and keep it. 😊
Now this is the sort of content I want to watch 😊
Oh hello daddy. Love those k1/k2 gsxr 1ks. Those paint schemes were the best and are still better looking than anything now
Right at the beginning my first thought....That bike looking over your shoulder like an excited dog on the back seat that knows its going to the park!!! 🙃
I wish this video was available 13 years when I started maintaining my bikes, I’ve learnt so much, thanks!
Lol I used books.
I got a 2001 k1 1000 and need the suspension set, the lumpy idle looking at and the power commander checking that it’s set up correctly, this video just proved that jhs is the place to take it.
When 1000's were lairy hairy and a little scary. Always liked the K1. I have a 2001 R1 I've owned for 18 years. Still a bangin bike, 135 bhp at the rear wheel which is pretty healthy for it's age. Look forward to the next video on the K1, keep up the good work guy's 👍
The golden era!
I reckon they’re where the money is gonna be at. Late90s or 2000s stuff, the next Elsies
@@martinmillar8447 Spot on mate, that's why I've kept mine. Modern classic for sure.
James needs his own channel. Congrats on the ebay sponsorship.
I have a K3 and K5 GSXR 1000. The older GSXRs are awesome! Raw power and fat flat torque delivery makes for a fun ride!
So wrapped you are doing episodes on this bike.
Was worried we’d never see it if you were selling it off.
I still own a K2 with 27k kms here in OZ.
The easy giveaway of a high useage K1 onwards is worn coating of the nitrided forks….mine are still very good and that is mint Chris.
True raw horsepower on these bikes, monster torque from zero revs to redline.
She's a keeper ❤
I’ve got a k1 really love it it was lumpy as hell when I first bought it found out the spark plugs where loose on it . Absolute beast riding it it seems quicker then my old c1 zx10r I had
Fantastic bike Chris. Absolute banger. Cherish it and keep it Chris, and all standard factory spec. Will only go up in value 😊
Really feelin' this ep. I was mad on bikes in my teens during this era.
Used to Own an 02 Carbed R1 when i had a go on my Mates GSXR 1000 K1, Power on the Gixer Seemed Fierce compared to my R1. Own a Gixer 600 K5 now and it's Perfect for me, possibly the Best Bike i have ever owned, also increased my Idle slightly and now Purrs Beautifully, Cured that Lumpy Idle.
Really love the revival videos like this. My GPR exhaust that I bought on eBay sounds great!
Loved my K1, now loving my K6 (had it 13 years now)
Just sold one of these in exactly the same colours, swap out calipers for 4 pots and fit sbs pads. I had an r1 master on mine. They can still hike on for an old bike. Daily'd it for more than a year
Ahh the summer. Can't wait to see you again my friend
I bought this exact colour, brand new 23 years ago… to this day, the memories… ahhhh - so good. The good old days when the Gixxer ruled to roost.
She's a beauty ! you forget just how good some old bikes looked !
Oh I have been waiting for awhile for a video like this... Thank you
Love the "old" bike stuff!
Still one hell of a bike today. I always loved it... Had to settle for the 750 version.
this was great to watch ..look forward to more on the bike 😮
Nice. If you want to keep it classic Yoshimura is the only legit way!
James is looking trim these days, got the guns out, looking well.
Blooming love 44teeth, ordered a few parts from JHS last week.
I've been up at the Gold Cup this weekeend, nice surprise to see this when I got home....guys...guys.
What a classic! Great to hear the roar at end 👌
that first iteration of the GSXR1000 was a monster, a legend and a bloody good bike.... really really good bike
Absolutely bleedy love you guys!
Loved every minute.
had 3 of these. my first one I did 70 00km in 2 years.
check fuel pump strainer, flow, and pressure.
TPS also gets sticky.
otherwise bulletproof motors
K5 and k6 are the legends
Beautiful!!! I love it.
That was a good video, looking forward to seeing the series unfold
A good bolt-on can & a TRE is all those gsx-r’s need, i just bought an all original 01 with 13,000 miles on it, i have had several of these bikes and they have all been excellent
bloody good to see James again.
Yep. Best colour.
have mine here in Jersey still in mint condition, fairings changed though as I got bored with the silver/grey ones, so now in a custom job of Rizla Red, currently for sale, had her for many years now, they are still great bikes, inside the tanks are renowned for rust though, had to have mine professionally relined after cleaning, and 3 new injectors and a new fuel pump
Great vid, very satisfying. A lovely example of a great bike too.
Picking up a k2 1000 on Saturday my first 1000 bike pretty nervous but excited to feel and hear the thump of one of these bikes under me
I love these video’s !!!
James looks so pleased to see sue! 😉
Always gr8 to see u and you are looking well long may it continue
Nice find! Stock K2 always had a pretty lumpy idle.
Loved this video. The OG crew working on old weapons 💦
What a beautiful bike! Its like brand new! Awesome.
Great find.Owned a k4 and K6.Nothing quite like an old school gsxr.
Chris, when i clean my calipers and pistons i always take the caliper off the the brake discs like you have done and then i use a small slither of smooth wood or pvc that is about 4mm thick to put in between the pads inside the caliper and pull the brake so that i can see which pistons move out of their housing and which ones are binding up and then i clean the pistons with a tooth brush and if i need to, i use wd40 sprayed onto some thin strips of fine grade wet and dry paper to polish the circumference of the pistons and keep pushing them back into the caliper and pulling the brake until they move freely and in unison.
I also save my old pads to swap them with the newer good condition pads in order to protect the good pads when i do my maintenance in this way because it allows me to use a flat head screwdriver to prise the pads apart which will push the pistons back into their housing and i don't need to worry about the damage it will cause to the face of the old pads.
Wow, that is absolutely mint 👌
My all time favourite bike! Looks great👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 love it!
2001 GSX-R 1000 K1, NO Wheelie Sensors, No Governor, No ABS....Just a Legal Liter Race Track Bike with "RAW POWER'!!
Bloody good work
Great video lads 👍🏻
