    Just sent my Touch Impress Truffle back for a replacement, only had it for 3 days and went to issues right away. Went to put fresh new beans, did the intelligent brew setup which starts at 15 grind settins but suddenly its not grinding the coffee although I could feel and hear it grinding. It started grinding when I went to 23 grind settings, and when I put the portafilter with the 23 grind beans there is no water puahing thru the portafilter. Played with it a little bit and increase the grind setting to 27 and its when it pulled out some espresso which tasted horrible. Tried 2 more separate beans bet light to medium roast and went thru the same problem. Hopefully my new replacement comes soon.

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  Před 6 měsíci

      That's weird, no espresso flowing is a choked machine, too finely ground, but I'm surprised to hear that at such a high grind setting, so it sounds like a grinder calibration issue, actually just changing the inner burr setting higher would probably have sorted it, but it is unusual to choke at 23. The stopping grinding, did it sound normal or was it making a fast clicking sound? Ta, Kev

    Great video!
    I have had a few superautomatics, and I currently have a Delonghi Maestosa, which is a quite expensive dual grinder machine. I bought this so that I could have both powerful espressos (darker roasts) and black coffee (lighter roasts) using different beans, but I find the espresso to be slightly dissappointing, as with any other superautomatic.
    I have for long been looking at the Oracle Touch, but I have read a few to many reports that critisize the auto tamp, which after a while may stop working properly. I do not know if this is only happening to a few machines or if this is a weakness, but I would love to know :-) Other than that, is the Barista Touch Impress better than the Oracle touch in any areas at all, other than the guidance? What about the grinder, which I read had been upgraded on the Barista Touch Impress (Baratza M2)?
    Again, excellent video! :-)

    • @prinzatago
      @prinzatago Před 16 dny +1

      From what I've read and seen online, the Oracle Touch's auto tamp is pretty durable. The Oracle's tamping mechanism is actually a smart tamper plus a ground distributor, so in theory it should be able to brew better shots than the Touch Impress. However, it cannot completely replace manual puck prep techniques such as WDT (a.k.a. needle), so to some fastidious coffee enthusiasts it might seem subpar. For normal users though, the Oracle Touch is literally the best of both worlds: (almost) bean-to-cup convenience and great taste.
      The Touch Impress has faster startup time at 3 seconds because it uses Thermojet. The Oracle has dual boilers so it's slower. Temp stability is better on the Oracle. Other than that, the Oracle is superior. The guidance on the Touch Impress is not exactly better, but it is more detailed because you have to do more work after all.
      The Delonghi Maestro is just awful. Don't expect espresso quality similar to professional machine. It is a machine for complete newbies disguised as an expensive barista-standard machine.
      P/s: I have the Breville Barista Touch. I have tested the Delonghi Maestro a few times. I do not have the Oracle.

    I have the original Barista Touch and sadly I don't see a compelling reason to spend an extra $500 on the Touch Impress. Now if it included a standardized 58mm portafilter in addition to the upgraded grinder and to me actually the useless integrated tamper then I could start to see the 50% increase in price. Ideally, I'd like to see more programmability like you see in the Decent espresso machine .. then that would have been a slam dunk easy breezy sale!!!

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The touch impress is intended for people who want fully automatic type user experience and home barista cup quality. The impress puck system is the main part of this, if you don't need this then this machine really isn't aimed at you. The grinder is also upgraded in the touch, after a certain manufacture date (I'm not sure what that date is), as far as I'm aware all the integrated grinder machines except the Barista Express, have the etzinger burrs now.
      Re decent type programmability, again this machine really isn't aimed at that level of user, but this is something I think would be amazing if built into the pro and/or the dual boiler - and I'd be shocked if Breville aren't already at least investigating this kind of tech.
      Have you seen this?: kafmasino.com/one/ I have one at the moment, video coming soon. Ta, Kev.

    • @DJaquithFL
      @DJaquithFL Před 5 měsíci

      @@Coffee_Kev .. The primary reason the integrated tamper to me is useless is there's no WDT plus I have a calibrated tamper, etc that makes it pretty simple. In addition to web integration (IoT), computational brewing (super easy to add to an advanced screen), would be to offer a single dose. Breville bellow add-on and yes I'm aware people sell those. The home market is primarily based upon single dose then taking expensive coffee and a simply leaving it in a huge bin to outgas and become stale overnight.
      My point was that the integrated tamper itself isn't worth an extra $500. Also yes, as I mentioned, yes I'm aware that the conical grinder has been upgraded. What would be interesting as a video comparing the two .. Barista Touch vs Touch Impress grinder in both yield and consistency of grind size. Adding additional grinder settings doesn't mean anything considering you can add additional settings to the conical bar by simply twisting and turning.
      I'm in a home where myself and my daughter are "barista hobbyists" and my wife and son-in-law are barely novice. I don't think our arrangement other than having adult kids living with you is so unusual, people have teenagers that drink coffee and even a husband and wife or whatever aren't always as into coffee as the other but still enjoy the taste!

    • @DJaquithFL
      @DJaquithFL Před 5 měsíci

      @@Coffee_Kev .. Forgot to mention, No I have not heard of the Kafmasino ONE until you had mentioned it. I'm aware that there are similar mods floating around and it seems like the commercial industry is also doing as I've mentioned. I have -zeroed out- zero doubt what I mentioned will be integrated in the next few years or sooner by all the major brands including Breville. The price seems reasonable if I saw it correctly for around $1,200 USD. We have an okay size kitchen but when you start putting all kinds of "stuff" on your counter: Breville largest toaster oven, Breville Touch, Breville mixer, KitchenAid mixer, Technivorm Moccamaster Select, baskets for your fruit and vegetables, daily use spices, my vaping center, etc and etc you can't have multiple grinders with multiple espresso machines unless you have a mammoth cavernous kitchen. 👌🤪

    Correct me if I'm wrong. The Touch Impress has a tamper whereas the Touch does not. That's it. Programming is the same. The settings are the same. Milk frothing is automatic. Both have a sensor. So why spend 50% more just to have the grounds tamped? The touch impress is $1,499 vs $999 for the touch in the USA.

    • @prinzatago
      @prinzatago Před 16 dny

      The Barista Touch Impress (BTI) has superior programming than the Barista Touch.
      The BTI has smart dosing feature thanks to the integrated tamper. It has volumetric sensor and can tell whether the shot flows too fast or too slow; it will tell you to change the grind size accordingly. It knows when to purge the grinder, the brew head and the steam wand and will remind you appropriately. Also the auto milk steamer has separate options for different types of milk.
      Basically, at this price point, it is the only machine with that much guidance capability. You can trust an absolute beginner to use the BTI and still produce an acceptable cup of espresso.
      In my opinion, the BTI's value drops sharply if its user is not a complete newbie and does not need its guiding features.
      I decided to go with the Touch because I'm a relatively advanced hobbyist. One thing I like about the Touch is the clearance below the grind chute, plenty of space to fit the official Breville dosing ring. It's a great piece of accessory by the way - very happy that Breville includes it with the Touch.

      The key differences between the Oracle Touch and the Impress Touch are: price, dual boiler (Oracle) vs. Thermojet, 54mm (Touch Impress) vs. 58mm (Oracle) portafilter and the alternative milk (Milq) steaming, as well as step by step barista guidance in the Touch Impress. The Touch Impress is amazing value when compared to the Oracle Touch. If you intend to go deep down the espresso rabbit hole, get a dedicated grinder, geek out over the details and nuances of your coffee, then go with the Oracle. It has a higher potential for “greatness”. However, if you just want to enjoy cafe style/quality drinks at home and don’t mind NOT being able to steam milk while pulling a shot simultaneously, then the Touch Impress is a fine choice.
