- How can you be sure Waitrose is number 1 for animal welfare? đ
Well, for a start all of our fresh, frozen or ingredient pork is British, we never use confinement stalls or farrowing crates, and we never will. All our breeding sows spend their entire lives outdoors. With freedom to roam, forage and nest in comfy straw beds for when theyâre ready to have their piglets.
Itâs safe to say we like our pigs to be happy. đ· Itâs why weâve held the Compassion in World Farmingâs Good Pig award since 2012.
And because all our pork is British, from British farms we know and trust it means all our farmers follow our high animal welfare standards. From what they eat to how much space they have. No compromise. That doesnât just apply to our free range and organic lines but also to pigs reared for our Essential Waitrose range, and meat in ready-meals and pies. Now that really is #FoodToFeelGoodAbout. đ
But donât just take just our word for it. Let Wayne, our Norfolk pig farmer, show you why weâre the number one supermarket for animal welfare.

Thank you for adding at the end that all the pork comes from farms like this. You're doing a good job being so transparent and thorough in explaining your animal welfare policy. đ
Poor babies :(
We're eating slaughtered cute baby pigs... đą
Unfortunately pigs are eaten all around the world. Most of them live miserable lives. Itâs the very least meat eaters can do to ensure they have a good quality of life before slaughter.
@@SadieDLdn Yes, most pigs bred for meat are treated horrendously and horrifically in life. As much as I long for the day when meat eating is a thing of the past, as long as animals are being bred for food, I'd rather they were at least adequately cared for in life, like this. Than the alternative, that most pigs endure, which is far worse.
False advertising. Please explain the welfare standards when the pigs go to the abattoir, as weâve seen them on Pignorant and you are hiding this
"And then we send them to the Gas chambers".... đ€Ą
