    I bought the Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver with the clutch and two batteries and charger a while back (didn’t realize they made one without a clutch it’s kinda a necessity with delicate fasteners) it’s my goto power screwdriver in RC it replaces my old Milwaukee one (the old 7.2v one that’s the same shape as the Dewalt) I use the same 12V Milwaukee screwdriver at work when I do spot repairs on the assembly line it’s really a good tool I find it to big &!clumsy to use in RC. One feature (at least on my version of the Dewalt screwdriver) If you need to manually break loose or tighten a fastener the tool automatically locks so you can use it as a regular screwdriver it’ll tighten/loosen as much as you can manage regardless of the clutch setting which is nice when building a new kit I set the clutch to a lower than normal setting and do the last 1/2 to 1 turn by hand in new plastics without changing tools

    Interesting vid. No mention of the Hitachi DB3DL2 or Makita DF012DSE though which are both very popular in RC. I’d like to hear in real world RC use how the Hitachi (now branded Hikoki) and the Makita stack up against the DeWalt....?

    I find the Milwaukee better for my needs. The trigger is really sensitive and I can tighten them just right. Plus you can also do it manually at the end with the Milwaukee as well. Don’t know if the dewalt has that feature?

    Love the video's. I just recently got back into RC (I was into it pretty seriously when I was younger). Now I get to do it with my son and teach and have fun with him. Too bad Covid has a lot of the tracks closed down. We really enjoy all of your videos and RC content. I have the new Milwaukee screwdriver like the one you use to use. I currently screw the screws down until they are almost tight then finish tightening them by hand. I've seen some Adam Drake videos where he tightens them all the way down using the torque settings (I assume). Do you recommend doing that and what torque setting is best for RC's?

    @andyyeung7917 Před 2 lety +1

    I find a normal 12V Li battery drills with continuous speed control is more suitable for RC use:
    - unlimited speed control: you can start the screw drive slowly, then get full speed, and slow down when approaching finish to avoid stripping (very important for dedicated plastic). This can simply be controlled at will by controlling the trigger
    - much faster
    - these screw drivers normally have reasonable torque limiting adjustment as a safety measure to avoid stripping
    - those the are normally heavier but not much if you chose it wisely. Normally in the 800g~900g range.
    - IMHO, pistol grip with trigger control is far easier to use
    - it can be used as a power drills or heavy duty screw drivers for normal use in a workshop/home use.
    - in general, cheaper than the Gyroscopic one with torque limiting control
    - plenty of choices for this type of screw drivers. can buy a big brand with a little bit more $ or small brand to save a few $.
