  • First weekend in October, Scotland had some terrible weather, lots of flooding everywhere.
Argyll had some biblical rain and resulting flooding.
We have a caravan at Stratheck...The Kingdom of Eck, just the most beautiful setting, surrounded by stunning mountains and the awesome Loch Eck.
However over that weekend the River Eachaig which flows from Loch Eck through the caravan park to the Holy Loch overflowed due to the incredible amount of rain sadly resulting in a few caravans getting dragged into the fast flowing water, 20+deckings,boats were also lost,a few caravans had to be pulled back from the rivers edge to save them.
Having visited the park yesterday the absolute devastation is so sad and mind numbing to see, I was lost for words.
My thoughts go out to everyone that has lost their beloved holiday homes and belongings, thankfully no-one was hurt during this sad time.
The footage on the video was me initially practicing with my drone when no-one was there, catching views of Loch Eck and the mountains, I just had to put the drone up again and see the damage, just insane seeing the power of mother nature and the resulting damage.
The river has widened in parts by probably 40-50 feet.
Hopefully the park gets back to what it once was and the owners of the caravans that were lost get fully compensated for their loss.

Still debris in the river now, ‘van chassis with floor attached and nothing else! Today (13 Jan ‘24) is the first I’ve been up Glen Massan since the big storm, amazed to see an old bridge that’s stood for decades has collapsed, the power of the water must have been amazing. Nature prevails, the river has changed course many times since it first started flowing down the Glen - taking land and replacing land - and pretty much nothing people can do will change that.

The erosion/scouring to the embankments is brutal, shows how fragile the land is.

Absolutely heartbreaking to see the damage caused mate.
Hopefully no more damage with this storm passing through at the mo😥
