- 50 Cent & Joe Budden have a long history of turmoil which dates back to as far as 2002. When 50 Cent exploded onto the scene, he found himself (along with his team in G-Unit) Beefing with Joe Budden. Plenty of diss tracks were exchanged by Joe Budden, Lloyd banks & The Game. 50 Cent opted out of dissing Joe through music but still found alliterative methods of trolling (Classic 50). This is the entire beef!

That's how he came up, dissing everyone who was higher than him on the rankings. The mixtape era was special. Rap had a competitiveness that isnt the same today. Keeping it on wax, and goin in. I remember every week pull up to local gas station as a teenager getting the newest mixtape CDs that were bootlegged by my guy Jefé. Them Clue, G-Unit , and Mood Muzik tapes stayed on repeat. Crackin dutches and breakin up trees on the CD jewel cases and system knocking boxin out before pullin up to parties every night. What a time to be alive
100% tapes dropped damn near daily at the height of the boom…and damn, those verses over pirated beats that could never get cleared in a million years…legit. Amazing time.

Excellent video and very detailed. I spent a lot of money buying mixtapes and keeping up with the back and forths. I was first introduced to Game on a Kay Slay (R.I.P) mixtape. I became a 50 fan from his mixtape run. The Re Up Gang We Got It For Cheap series from Vol 1 to Vol 3 still holds a special place for me. Beanie Siegel Public Enemy Number 1 mixtape was special. DJ Envy had an impressive mixtape run as well. It’s so many memories from the mixtape era that are truly phenomenal and thank you for documenting that time.
Thank you bro!! 50’s run was insane. People forget about just how Poppin Envy was with tapes back in the day (I’m guilty of that as well). When I think about Envy all I see is the breakfast club haha but he was breaking records in clubs and doing his thing with tapes. That Beans tape is CLASSIC though. That is definitely a tape I need to revisit.

I was in the Navy and stationed In Norfolk, VA and so many mixtapes were available at Military Circle Mall at that time. So many people were popping. From Dipset to PSC to Street Family to G Unit to Desert Storm with the A Team (R.I.P) Stack Bundles. That was a remarkable time in HipHop dudes was really coming with it. Lil Wayne started his ascension to the top and DJ Drama was putting out classics with his Gangsta Grills series. It was a dope time and I appreciate the trip back though time.

So I'm listening to your video while playing GT7, and what you said at the end about the mixtape era REALLY clicked with me.
I was in high school during the 50 cent blow up. I'll never forget bumping Wanksta in my '89 Mazda 323 lol.
The most fun was finding the new hottest mixtapes or diss tracks, downloading it on Limewire (praying I wouldn't get a virus or a copy of Crank Dat by Soulja boy lol), transferring it onto my 32MB MP3 player, and then showing it off the next day at school.
I guess that was my (our) era's version of diving through crates like the people did in the 80's/90's.
