In this video we are installing new Blacktip traction mats on my wife's 1993 Seadoo GTX. There was only 3 original mats in the back riveted on.. So it wasn't bad. The next video you will see how I removed my old Hydro-Turf mats that are glued onto the deathtrap SP. Love the videos, but dear god stop using the screwdriver to remove these and gouging up the gelcoat. Small flush cutters dug up in the rubber under the rivet heads and snip snip. Quick, easy and easier on the gelcoat especially when you slip and knock a chunk out of the footwell gelcoat when using the screwdriver. Amazon "Rayley Electrical Cutting Plier Wire Cable Cutter Side Snips Flush Pliers Tool 170 Flush Cutter Internal Spring Cutting Pliers Small Wire Cutters Running pliers". Hold your hand over the rivet when you snip because the heads will fly.
Nice work, one thing I did was to drill them off, and those that didn’t come off, I used cutters and clip then off.
You put bolts facing down from the hood with locking washers on the bolt Side that will keep bolts from spinning on you ...and nuts on other end in jet ski.. fish the bolts through hood with a coat hanger if you can pop a gauge out
hammer and chisel is the best way. super easy just did my 96 xp

This is painful. Looks good in the end. But your poor foot wells. Drilled mine out the. Snipped the tips off. Worked great.

Could you have drilled the tops of the plastic rivots instead of using a screwdriver to remove?
Yes, but they were so old they popped right out
I would think epoxy glue would be the way to put the hood back on. Also try a heat gun on faded plastic like the rear grab handle.
anyone know how long the stickiness lasts on those (actually has had them on for extended time)? I'm thinking to upgrade my wife's '97 SPX. She likes those same purple diamond plate...but I think I will use a 12lb sledge hammer to get the old ones off, lol!
Did you sand/smooth down the "sandpaper style" footwell that didn't have pads before you added them? Did they adhere to the bumpy surface easily without it being smooth?
Great video, I just picked up a 97 GTX for 100 bucks and it barely has a scratch on it but likely needs a motor. Have you been able to find anywhere that offers the decal sets for these? I cant find them anywhere and want to clean up and buff it really good.

Did you epoxy over the rivet holes? About to do it need to know lol
