Gardner 6LXB 180 Overhaul Part 3 - Top end teardown
Welcome to the third video of this series, those of you who already follow us will know that the videos we post are normally short clips of an engine running after overhaul or when it first arrives with us. In this series after many requests we will be following the stripdown, inspection and restoration of a Gardner 6LXB from a 1972 Atkinson Borderer. In this video we start the teardown by removing all the ancilliary components from around the engine before removing the cylinder heads and cylinder block.

Very well produced series.
Superb series.. I am very much enjoying it. Thanks.
Really enjoying these great series on the 6LXB rebuild, especially little details that for me, is allowing the odd penny (or should that be a Happeny-bit?) to emerge and drop! I have a 1978 6LXB (and thank you also for the link to getting the year of manufacture) here in my workshop destined to be done up by a Gardner professional (I hasten to add!) to replace the old 6LW in my boat here in NZ. Looking forward to the continuing series! PS. - your immaculate workshop hasn't gone unnoticed either....
Thanks for your comments and glad you are enjoying the series. The next video on the bottom end teardown is coming soon, Just need to finished editing it, watch this space.
"Done up by a Gardner professional"? That was a "modern" engine in 1978? If not good luck finding a "professional" to "do it up".
@@deeremeyer1749 Thanks, but all good, as luckily here in New Zealand we have 2 firms who specialise in Gardners. My "modern" 6LXB was fully reconditioned, and is just needing the injector pump and injectors done (due only - to the previous owner's wee foibles) before being fully soda blasted painted and polished ready for installation.
Need to go back to school mate and stop useing gardner's logo if I was you?
Hi Trevor, Hope all is well in sunny Ireland. You mean JCB's logo as they own the rights to the Gardner brand which we kindly have permission to use. 👍
Dumb background silly music - totally unnecessary and a distraction……😴
@philipblick8887. Thanks for your feedback. Wasn't sure on it myself when editing the video, hence the later videos don't have it.
