Linus sponsoring Linus. That is so meta.
Greg K even more meta, Luke sponsoring Linus sponsoring linus
Happened on a few videos, maybe they are struggling to get sponsors :(
Ben Whitaker either that or they wanted to put their merchandise store in the main sponsor spot. Linus usually mentions they have one at the end but who listens to that part?
Also it gives them the oppertunity to make a different video and not worry about sponser response
hahhaaa
7:02
"...fravorite..."
That's the best new word.
8 Bit Brody words
I had to search to see if someone else caught it too. So glad someone else did. :)
8 Bit Brody u
I always have to check comments for grammar or pronunciation errors I hear, I was not disappointed!
GERSBERMPS!
I hereby demand every video that has luke is labelled “ft luke”!
Liatin1 I support this.
Maybe even ‘fluke’ y know, to save space
MattacksRC don’t think we’ve ever seen Luke’s feet
Hell yeah
Liatin1 hey those are my initials “FT” lol
Holy smokes. Having barely scratched the surface of FPGA programming, I can't bow low enough to these guys. Recreating a processor is hard enough with proper documentation, let alone reverse engineering the hardware. Kudos, really.
Luke? You still work there?? LOL
Son Goku yeah he's an external employee, the one and only luke lafreniere has a special guest appearance at lmg headquarters from time to time.
Free agent
well he is running Floatplane as main job, which is also an LTT company, so somehow he still is employed at LTT, just not in the video creation department.
Someone didn't watch WAN Show
ブランドン better things to do
This Luke guy is pretty cool, you should hire him!
And here we are 2 months without a part 2 to the PC case dust test Part 1, which promised a follow up a year later. But here we are, questioning if this just got swept under the rug or left in the corner
Daniel Helmick I looked forward to seeing that too
4 SNES? What where you doing to them. I still have my old SNES from way back when it first came out, and it still works fine.
I'm a simple man. I see Luke, I like.
Mr. Scouter953 you have to love Luke, he is awesome
I'm a simple man. I see like, I Luke
Mr. Scouter953 I am a simple man. I like Luke.
simplewoman and simplechildren too
I too am a simple man... I saw Luke so I tuned in. Maybe it's time for a new hostess with the mostest's's's ?!?
Four, the number of seconds I was distracted by Luke's leg hair.
4, the amount of times i wish i could dislike this video for that annoying intro
finally!!!! as much as i like seeing linus do some of these videos was deff missing luke, glad he is back.
This channel has gotten so big that it can sponsor itself now
Loving this retro content man! Keep it coming!
1:57 why is that orange cable wiggling....
Looks like they looped video forward/backways until the hand was supposed to show
but it keeps wiggling even after the hand comes into frame
Good Question....
I was NOT expecting to see byuu's forum screenshot-ed in a LTT video today. That just made my day.
Four!... is the number of times I rolled my eyes watching the intro.
It's weird there is such an issue with getting one in the US. I live in Europe, we can walk into any one of dozens of high street stores or online retailers and buy the SNES Classic for the normal €65 price, we're not even limited to one per customer you can buy as many as you want. They're very popular but everyone has them in stock here.
Can confirm, most stores here in the Netherlands have large stock.
SNES wasn't nearly as popular in Europe as Sega and the MegaDrive/Master System was. I can see a bit less nostalgia for it overall, as many developers withheld their games from Europe during that era.
That's because Europe doesn't give a shit about Nintendo
@@AstralColors well in UK Supwr Nintendo so big here. Almost on same level Sega Megadrive . I say Super Nintendo was bit Bigger then Sega Megadrive in UK
7:23 HAHAHA I don't know why but the way Linus introduced the ad cracked me up, the tone of his voice in the first sentence sounds funny for some reason "Just like your squarespace site will beeeehhh... :v"
I love FPGA's and VHDL design/programming. So fun to see the hardware interacting.
6:55
"I'm going to BAIL HARD" lmao love that part and youre right no answers because there are no winners, sadly.
In all honesty if you're buying real games carts then I can't imagine how exactly this is not fine. Reverse engineering is not illegal and when the NSA coughs up a tool for the sole purpose of reverse engineering that kind of tells you where the US government stands on this, even if Nintendo get's their panties in a bunch over the idea in the first place because they want you to buy their emulation box that is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and has input lag that you can very much feel after you've played on real hardware.
Now what about dumping roms onto an SD? Well, that is a bit more black and white but I'd make the argument and say that companies like nintendo, konami, square, capcom, etc made their money off these games decades ago and anything now is a simple money grab via emulation themselves and at best these re-release versions can only accurate to the original version of the game with inescapable input lag and at worse an absolute hot mess with something in the middle usually where it's playable at least. If they'd just sell the ability to outright buy the rom files themselves then this really wouldn't be an issue, hell Sega is doing this on steam and I've paid for them myself since that was an option to legally obtain these games and their rom files. Nintendo needs to just get with the times and do it themselves, hell they don't need to release these games on the PC format but simply sell the game collections and allow them to be dumped onto the micoSD on the switch so then you can dump them on your PC yourself. Then again, Nintendo is making a yearly intake of cash selling access to them on their console, with input lag and inaccuracies so there is incentive to not do that.
Just a side note on the whole rom thing, nintendo was caught themselves pirating their own NES games on the original virtual console for the wii by downloading them off rom sites with added codes to make them work on old emulators from the 90's and additional data saying who did the original rip so take that that as you will. It's shocking how unbelievably hypocritical they are themselves in all this.
Definitive answer : It's for people who have original games but would like to play those games on a modern television. On the other hand owners of a CRT TV are better off using the original hardware.
I'm actually curious about the audio "enhancement" on these NTs. But besides that, your comment is 100% spot on.
this super nt will play on a crt with the dac they are making for it and it now plays roms with the jail break
Yep just made this comment more or less identically.....I mean I still don't understand who this is for....I mean if you are willing to fork out 200 for a console you're likely a collector and also likely a purist who wants to play on a CRT...no analogue no sale is what every single one of my friends has been saying about this one...and I agree.
For 200 I want analogue out of the box. Lol no way. For this price I can pick up an original SNES + a bespoke RGB scart cable for it as well as an SD2SNES cart.
If you have original carts and want to play on a modern TV, this is still the most cost effective solution.
This has gone too far, THEY'RE SPONSORING THEMSELVES!!!
Self-sponsorship - Easy, and ridiculous
Wait What You're Telling Me I Can Sponsor My Self????
Really enjoying the retro gaming content! I'm pretty into SNES myself so these last couple videos have been my space. Didn't even know about this clone though, I almost regret buying a later revision console. Then again, it all plays the same games really, just need whatever makes the most sense for your use case.
If you guys loved a Link to the Past, I recommend trying the randomizer for it, great romhack. Should be one of the first in a google search.
Great content!
I keep searching something to my 9 year cousin live a real experience in this era with no lags and hig accuracy.
you got a new follow from Brazil. TY
nice video. waiting for the SEGA GENESIS from analogue
Hey its luke from floatplane
Look! It's LOOKE!
Thanks guys for reviewing my new product!! :D
a snes clone that is better than the original hardware?
well, it fucking better be, cause the original is nearly 28 years old now.
Level 99 28* lol but I get your point.
lol thx for that. corrected it now :P
If it supports all glitches too, I'll buy it :P
czcams.com/video/hgGLGDnrG78/video.html
where did you get uncle cid from
And yet a SNES still runs like the day it was launched, unlike modern consoles today. Let’s see if a ps3 or ps4 will work 30 years from now. Doubtful.
Phil Fish? I haven't heard that name in years
Killer.exe I was a bit shocked hearing his name pop up here of all places
I know what you mean, I remember watching his final meltdown
Hey can you try out the no buffer modes that runs at full speed with a monitor with more then 60hz. The snes ran at a weird HZ that is why they have a buffer that is set default that runs slow at 60hz and speeds up or deletes a frame to make up the difference every second or something to make up the difference(it's very hard to even tell that it's doing it but for speed runners who need the exact timings will mess you up.). Well something like that. If you set it on another buffer it runs at full speed I think 60.8HZ or something but causes taring, because TV's at 60hz can't handle the refresh rate like CRT's used to do. That is why I am wondering if you put it on a monitor that has more then 60hz if it make the picture nice and smooth. Even when showing the test you showed I sure noticed it but when playing you really don't. We all know you guys have a bunch of monitors around.
1:58 Sitting here watching my dose of linus and then i see an orange power cable shaking it's ass o.O
Cookie 33 I love how you put that dude "dose of Linus" why not try a dose of Meds xd.

It's pretty funny that the SNES Mini is sold out everywhere in the US and Canada, yesterday I was in a local tech store here in Germany and they had literally 20 of them in some corner.
same in portugal
Isn't that the floatplane guy?
7:00 idk why I found it so hilarious to hear you say "Fravorite" lmao
That Linus shirt looks fascinating..... Really tempting :D
1:57 Why is the orange cable wiggling so weird?
4: the number of years ago this came out
Small correction, the controller ports ARE compatible with the super scope, and NT have talked about releasing an adapter for use with a CRT.
(unfortunately the adapter will be proprietary, but I guess it'll also have no input lag or else the super scope wouldn't work.)
Thanks for the retro content. Keep it going! Reaching a broader audience doing more than just pc tech.
Oh i didn't know Luke from Float Plane was on LTT
at 2:00 why the hell is that orange cable wiggling
7:16 luck was like I am not paying for a scart cable... love how the wireing are not sleeved together XD
I have an Altera Cyclone V prototyping board so theoretically if they released their HDL files I could upload it to my own board and it would work the same, the only challenge would be getting inputs working as they would probably have to be remapped to the the boards I/O pins. This is the first I've heard of people using FPGAs to make consoles, I knew it was theoretically possible but I never knew anyone did it commercially. Pretty cool stuff.
snes mini is still openly available in UK at the RRP
I wasnt expecting that advert i felt tunnelbear was coming
Yay Luke's back!
Kudos to the writer who made the slam-poetry style intro.
I'm not sure about this new guy...
7:01 Fravorite
Came here looking for this, thanks for not disappointing!
*Gabe Newel walks on stage*
“4!”
Crowd:
“I bet it’s just ‘4’ new hats in TF2”
Gabe:
“4 new games respectively named:
Team Fortress 3,
Portal 3,
Left 4 Dead 3,
and finally,
Half-Life...
...2 *REMASTERED* “
*The crowd stares on silently as Gabe slowly slides behind the curtains with blank face*
If he did that, it would go down in history as the biggest troll ever
It's worth noting that in England the SNES clasic is still available at retail (Argos, for example).
CrAzYgIrL I can confirm for Germany, it's 80€ in almost all tech stores.
snes classic still available here in The Netherlands, third time a new batch is sold in stores, each time they say limited but it is not here
OMG it's Luke!!!
But what about Tunnel Bear?
Bitch
Internet Explorer says the worlds worst browser...
Shut up! Stop trying to get thumb ups!
The SNES Classic can be found if you try. I managed to pick one up a month ago form my local EB Games. I just checked every workday on the way home for a couple weeks and one day they had a small stack of them on the counter.
Yep me too. Got my UK one a couple of weeks ago from a small independent games shop in London for the recommended retail price.
You sold me when you mentioned the improved audio.
Sees Luke's face.
Goes to comment section to celebrate.
Realises that everyone else is as pleased as I am!!!
More Luke please.
Hey, that's Luke from Floatplane !
4 is the amount of years later I'm watching this in, the 4th month of the year.
"Well... nope. I can't answer that, I'm gonna bail hard." - Luke quitting LTT
I already want to get my hands on the clear one.
Very cool keep up the Retro Gaming content I want one of these very bad and then the cartridge from the previous video then you got a pretty badass retro gaming setup
6:54 Solid call Luke, solid call.
it's been over 10yrs since these games have been released, Nintendo and whoever made all the profit they ever needed on them, if the patent system wasn't utter bullshit these games would've been legally free
sadman hoque Completely agree but Nintendo is a really nasty company when it comes to live and let live. Rockstar for example just offers GTA 1 and 2 on their website for free.
sadman hoque makes sense, they should be able to make profit off of their hard work but what angers me is they often don’t make it easy to play them
Hey that's that floatplane guy.
What's his name again? Lake?
Sigma Waffle i think his full name is kaby lake
Potatonite realy? Never knew that, how long ago was that? /s
FOUR - the number of years Luke hasnt hosted LTT video
Let's take a moment to appreciate how that test rom at 4:12 demonstrates accuracy of the 'mosaic' feature using a character from Kiniro Mosaic.
7:02 "All your fravorite"
Mix between framerate and favorite.
Luke, have you been exercising?
he's plump
Like always looks that good.
Knuckles the Echidna; well, he's Luke...
In summer 2021, these “affordable” Analogue Super NT consoles go for $250, new.
So much for affordable.
umm idk about Canada or the rest of the USA but in my area, takes a couple days for SNES classics to sell out when they're available
Is the SNES mini in Canada still going for crazy amounts of money? Here in Germany Amazon is currently selling them for 90€. It is the European version with the original (and in my opinion much better looking) chassis so it might be a different production run, but the hardware should be the same, is it not?
Random Mcranderson I bought one last week from Nintendo's online store. £60. Again the European/Japanese model. Maybe it's just low supply for the north American model, but they are powered by USB now and connect via HDMI, so it's not like there are any region compatibility issues anymore.
I'm Guessing. It Was Linus Who Broke Them
Holy shit. No tunnel bear ad 😂
Good video! Funny segway Linus team lol
is that luke from floatplane?
I really hope you guys get interviewed by Hot Ones.
Or Hot Juans!
Wow, I'm suddenly very nostalgic. After you mention a Raspberry Pi emulator though, I sense I should check I could get it up and running on there, as once it's running, my eyes will surely be glued to the screen.
There's an Iowa-based store chain called Videogames Etc that sells retro consoles for under $100. They also sell last-gen consoles for about $100 and used current consoles for about $200. They also sell accessories and games for any console.
Trainguyrom they do, indeed! Picked up a Sega Nomad back in November at their CF location.
Supported by themselves. BIG UP!!
Wow! Luke is still alive and working at LinusTechTips? I thought this thicc boi is gone.
NE 555 Why you have to be mad nigga?
he works for what is essentially a separate company that has contracts with lmg
dstblj 52 Thanks for the info mate.
He works for Floatplane which is owned by Linus but a separate legal entity. So he still works for Linus just not LTT
Ben Harris *lmg
The controller ports are compatible with the super scope, it's flat panel TVs that are not compatible with the super scope. By using the external dock you could use the superscope on a CRT through the Super NT.
7:11 nice line on the wall, rings true nowadays
Well if you have a small house and not a lot of Space sure it is a Nice alternative, but if you are crazy like me you will have one crt and rgb cables for all the consoles
AmazinChannel yeah, and technically this is still emulation
Not relay, if you have the actual carts it will play them, it will however make it more cost effective to get a hold of the hardware to play them on. however i can see why some would be put off by the device as it isn't actually Nintendo.
Hey, isn't that luke from floatplane?
Best LTT vid in months, Bring back Luke!
welcome back dude
Was close but then Linus popped into frame with his Sqääääresspppaccceeee...
'4' the number of times you need to press the right arrow to jump the intro.
It's actually 8...
*FOUR*
Which only brings you to 20 seconds
I see where you are confused. The start of the video is just about watchable until 'this video is brought to you by part and the very tired title. That part is 20 seconds long.
The whole video was a bit tired and could be skipped.
Great review! Also, first syllable rhymes with "cow". GOW - see - ehn
Every tech and game shop I go to here in Germany still has quite a few snes classics laying around, they never seem to disappear like they do in the states haha
Is that Luke from Floatplane?
oh cool, you guys got Luke from FloatPlane :D
joking aside, this is going to be really good for events like GamesDoneQuick or other kinds of marathons where hardware needs to be as accurate as possible & this is far more portable (& easier to capture footage from it seems) than a SNES
People could just get a Raspberry Pi I mean RetroPie is just as accurate but is cheaper and has support for more emulators
I love the inserted ads. lol
you can now load roms onto this and in a month or two it should support a bunch of different consoles. you need the jailbreak firmware to do it though.
Intrest in retro gaming: 0%. Intrest in a Luke video: 100%
thy intro is so funny.......love you sir
ikr
Seeing those games played again is bringing back old memories
I don’t know if this is just for the UK, but SNES classics have gone back on sale
