The Owl Man | A Horror Short Film

A man on the wrong path after a breakup is visited by the Owl Man to warn him about the danger he is in.
This was an independent project fully written, budgeted, shot and edited by myself. I wanted to challenge myself to see what I could accomplish on my own.

3:00 I actually appreciated that the owl-Man screech was more subtle! I don't always like sudden-screamy things from my laptop LOL. But is this Part 1 of 2? Because I didn't see any indication that he was 'warned' of anything?

At the beginning and end of the film the character tries to cope with his breakup through self loathing and drinking. In some legends the owl man is a creature that shows up to signify doom in one’s future. When the character brushes the first encounter off and continues to drink the owl man hums to signify that he’s still watching and warning him to change his path.

Decent effort, but the sound needs work. The Owlman screeching needed to be louder if you wanted it to sound like he was right behind the protagonist, and louder still when you cut to the Owlman himself stalking down the hall mid-screech. It sounded like something heard from outside the house. The shadowed image was well done, though I'd like to see more practical effects used here, like a mask with LED lights to give us that eye-shine. That being said, I know practical effects can be pretty expensive in areas where there's no cheap work-around. Hopefully, your budget can be larger for future shorts. Keep practicing!
