Animal Collective has changed my life. Nothing gives me as much joy as their music.
This is the pinnacle of their career.
We need more of this from animal collective, very minimalistic , just them making sound with random objects, but some how still making it sound like one of their songs, perfect

Good god almighty I love this version. So glad they did it at this tempo on the BBC show so we could have a near-studio quality. Further proof that Animal Collective are fantastic *musicians*.

I wasn't a big fan at first...kinda put it in a tab and let it run, but i stopped what i was doing and found myself completely sucked in. Wow. Cool :)
Recently discovered this video and it's mind blowing they could make this sound so good on this "acapella" version
Look some people wouldn't agree with you that stevie wonder is a genius, especially if they don't like the guy. AC songs bring you to a different place and make you feel amazing. They make people feel something like stevie does. Maybe not geniuses but above the rest, like stevie. Who gave you this great power to determine whos a genuis and whos not?

@Curlytwins1993 It's an early version of the song. Look up the BBC version of it. They always have really different takes on their songs; sometimes they're better, sometimes they're not. But they're all awesome.

I think the idea comes from the saying "You are what you eat". So when they say "Am i really all the things that are outside of me" maybe they're saying they aren't animals or want to be something more.

those weren't influences... that was a list of bands that he sampled to make the album.
Think about what the term "sounds like" means.
if a band has a link in their "sounds like" section to what they sound like. It's not pretentious to me.
and if that's not enough for you Noah Lennox Aka Panda Bear listed a large number of his influences on the inside cover of his album Person Pitch.

hey man, good luck criticizing a band on a string of posts underneath a video of them playing. People are going to argue with you because they are digging this band, and see someone knocking the band. You don't have to fight this fight, what's the point? Who knows? By the way a BAND can't be a genius. Only a person can be a genius. Unless they ALL are geniuses, and can INTERACT with a GENIUS COLLABERATION (blah blah blah....)
I guess I should take my own advice in this instance (i.e. "what's the point?")
you should try re-reading my last post without assuming that I am trying to stand on a soapbox or something.. I was just trying to articulate the futility (however justified) of calling a band NOT genius(es) in a comment string on their video.

it's edited together (as far as i can remember all of them are done in one take [i might be wrong])
they're using some sampling, although this isn't really a big deal cause i guess they kind of need to since a large portion of their music is sample-based these days.
i dunno, i just thought this is kinda something else, i don't know how i feel about it, but don't get me wrong, i'm really pumped for the new album.

i believe that animal collective creates a type of music that is derived very strictly from indigenous sounds. like a writer ought to recognize his/her antecessors, musicians should do the same. animal collective have yet to express some appreciation for their influences. on their myspace profile, right where it's written "sounds like...", they have this video showing! how pretentious is that?! so going back to our original topic, animal collective is more indigenous than parishian.
to me...this was not music...this was horrible.
