That was utter bullshit and completely hypocritical of McConnell, given that he wouldn't confirm Merrick Garland in 2016 despite it being more than 8 months away from the 2016 election. Barrett was nominated less than a month before the 2020 election. Yet Romney said it was fine.

People don't need to agree with what comes out of Romney's mouth but understand he respects his voters enough to let them know where he stands so they can make an informed decision. Also, he probably represents the beliefs of the people of Utah as they just elected Spencer Cox who is pretty much in line with Romney.

Character matters. I don't live in Utah, but if I did I would vote for Mitt Romney even against a Democrat who has 100% the same positions as me. Why? Because I think having people who are willing to go against their own party when it's wrong is very important. It shows that he cares more about his conscience than staying in power.

The sad reality is if the 25th Amendment is used against Trump, it will be invoked a second time against Biden shortly after his inauguration and for the real reason it was written, either physical incapacity or mental incompetence.
