I will say "melodeath" is one of my absolute favorite subgenres of metal, and I so enjoyed when I discovered OG because I believe they do it beautifully. Be'lakor is another top band for me, as well as some choice songs from maybe Insomnium and Dark Tranquility.
Anyways, I am very pleased to have found you and have really enjoyed going through the back catalog! Easy Sub for me and thank you for inspiring me to delve deeper into the beautiful Finnish culture

Love the flow of Finnish melodeath, especially when Markus Vanhala is involved in writing the music. I feel it matches the landscapes of this beautiful country, as well as the tonality/rhythm of the finnish language (even if the song is in english).

Thank you so much, that was very interesting, especially for me as an OG fan who is learning Finnish! I have also seen the interview, that was beautiful, and I wonder, would you like to check out what Jukka did with his previous band Elenium? His vocals were quite different and really variative back in the day... Unfortunately they have only made a video for "Up The Long Ladder" which is not the most interesting case by that means, but that would be really sweet to hear what you think! Jukka is interesting vocalist and really cool to hear insights of his performances, though you cannot see much of him on their music videos, even when those are really well produced. Fronting a really great band with different kinds of material, keeping their original scandi black metal sound on top with varying amount of spices like prog, heavy and 80's. In Origin, one of most interesting pieces is In Front of Me, Infected Mushroom cover.
Their best one undoubtedly, and my first encounter with this great band 10 years ago

Yes, Insomnium!!! They have new album coming and have shot at least one new music video with Riivata Visuals guys. Also Niilo's vocals are probably more acceptable to people who are not accustomed to harsh vocals as Jukka's. Speaking of Riivata Visuals, I think Atlas needs to be introduced to more people. One of the best new Finnish metal bands out there.

HI Anna , I am one of your subs. I get the biggest kick out of some of the song suggestions you get. â Hey Anna...... Do a video of Donnie and the Donuts doing âStop picking my nose hairâ â. Some of the requests are pretty far out as you well know. Back in the day ( right after the 3rd ice age) there was an all girl rock band in the 80's (USA) called Vixen. As you well know, rock bands are kind of a guys thing. Because they were girls , they were pretty much ignored. That shouldn't have happened. A lot of todays girl pop stars are vocalists, but they can't play anything. There really haven't been that many girl bands and there should be more. Of all the girls bands that have come along thru the years from the Runaways to the Bengals to the newer K pop girl bands, these girls (Vixen) were very, very good musicians. I am a musician and I can tell you that you would notice the same. They had a few hits in the 80's and did a few things with MTV , back when MTV actually played music. I am hopeful you will at least drop test this video I will link. These girls were a real 80's rock band and it will be worth checking this out if only for the hair ( Aqua net, the wind never had a chance ). One reality of this, these girls are now your Grandmothers age. Not kidding. They are all in there 60's today. Anna, this will not disappoint you and it will not be a waste of your time Thanks Jen. I only know 'Blade Reflecions' by these guys. Probably not the best vocalist out there, but good musicians. Atlas is anther good Finnish metal band.

If you're not totally deterred by them, give it a chance. Also you might like Insomnium if you like OG. Since around 2011, they've shared the same guitarist and songwriter (not the sole one for Insomnium though). And Insomnium's vocalist is mellower, less aggressive sounding, rather sorrowful and quite soft IMO. I'd say for most, growling is an acquired taste.

Their music is really good, I just can't get into those harsh vocals. I would definitely listen to more of their songs, if it weren't for these screams. I looked up the lyrics and they're actually quite interesting. Unfortunately it's hard to hear them when he's screaming like that. However, I totally enjoyed their overall sound and riffs.
Yup, it seems to divide people a lot! Omnium Gatherum has a lot of very poetic expressions and themes in their songs actually! Good analysing from my favorite Martine!
