  • Welcome to Cabin on The Hill! In this video my son who you know as the Lawn Care Juggernaut / The Boring Channel guy and myself will be taking you deep into the woods where we found a hidden and abandoned cemetery. Officer Doofy is on duty and is joining us as well. This is a neglected cemetery known as Salem Cemetery located in Centerpoint Arkansas. We found this untouched cemetery deep in the woods and cleaned it up together. We worked as a team and brought it back it to life. We hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed working on it together.
Jobs like these inspire inner dialogue that bring to light just how quickly everything we do in our life will be forgotten and washed clean by time. Knowing this we do our best to live a meaningful and purpose driven life. We hope that our work inspires others to use their skills that they have acquired in their life to help where they can.
We appreciate you watching and if you would like to help support us don't forget to like this video and share it and subscribe for more videos.
    Much Love to you all!

You know boys, I believe the folks buried there would be mighty grateful for your hard work. Knowing that there are still people in the world who care about an old country cemetery. I’m a member of our County’s Honor Guard & we do military funeral rites & yeah I’ll bet the dearly departed appreciate the heck out of it. God Bless.

You both have a heart of gold , and I love the two of you working together! That's a Blessing within itself! Angel's around you as you continue your calling to help others. And I'm shocked at the size of the cemetery not to mention the grave with the fencing amazing. Dueling blowers 😅 Give that pup a good ole pat, love him too! ❤🙏🏼

I’ve taken my granddaughters to historic cemeteries here in Houston. We read headstones and imagine who these people were in life. And mostly just acknowledge them and the place they rest. Doesn’t matter who they were, we go to let them know they aren’t forgotten. What a loving gesture of y’all remembering the ones who went before us. Perhaps with it now being more accessible, it may inspire a loved one to stop in to say they remember. Well done 46:51

Thank you sooooo much. It's a video I've not forgotten about since you and your wife walked the cemetery. My Great-grandmother and Great-Grandfather were from Arkansaw, poor, simple-living folk living in the hills. God bless you and your son. It did my heart good. If you know the owners or previous owners, it may be good to ask them to submit the names buried there to Ancestry or Find A Grave. Many people are searching.

Very good ideas. Perhaps if you contacted these guys they'd be happy to provide you the information for you to follow through on as you want to do. That way you can have a hand in remembering these forgotten souls. They are not forgotten by God...just remember that! When Jesus comes he will gather his own regardless of how far they have been forgotten by their fellow humans. Just think of all the centuries of mankind that have passed. And God knows each and every one of them. Isn't that amazing? Mind boggling. Bless you~

You guys are a blessing to so many, alive and deceased. When you're out in a woody area or in tall grass, you need to spray your skin and clothes (shoes and up) with a repellent containing 20-30% Deet. Recommended by the CDC to prevent a Lone Star tick bite that will cause the Alpha-Gal Syndrome, which is a red meat allergy. It causes allergic reactions, to red meat, such as, beef, pork, rabbit, lamb and venison, and their byproducts like dairy, protein powder. It primarily causes hives, angioedema, upset stomach, diarrhea, stuffy/runny nose, sneezing, headaches, drop in blood pressure, every time you eat these foods, but can even cause death, according to the CDC. It's in the south during tick season. One of the CZcams channels I watch, K&S Get Out, Kyle Doss, came down with it after they bought some wooded land in SE Missouri. Then I read in the news that the CDC said cases of it are on the rise. So please be careful when you're out in the woods or tall grass because THERE IS NO CURE.

Fascinating about these cemeteries just being forgotten like this, whether in public or private land. I'm in northern California, and most of our "pioneer/Gold Rush" era cemeteries are still cared for, whether by preservation groups or just locals. But reading about/seeing these older cemeteries in the Midwest or more southeast is so interesting to me. Watching the people who clean & repair 200 year old headstones, or locate possible cemeteries of the enslaved around former plantations (where grave markers weren't allowed, so specific plants were often used) is incredible.
Hopefully this will bring renewed attention to the cemetery, so it can be mapped and preserved for future generations.

It’s so great that y’all do this. I know the families of the deceased are very appreciative, and it was very moving to see the names at the end of the video.
Just a suggestion, but you should probably get Officer Doofy a hunter’s orange vest to wear in areas like that. Not only so you can keep a better eye on him, but mostly for his safety. Just because it’s not hunting season, doesn’t mean there isn’t someone out there hunting.

I love old cemeteries. I visit them when I can even though I have no one buried in them. The history they contain is remarkable. I read the tombstones and try to image the person who lies beneath it. My grandmother Nanny Stanton told me once that people die twice. Once when they leave their physical body. The other when no-one speaks their name anymore and it is lost to history. I always read the stones out loud to give a few moments of life once again.
What you do for these folks that have passed is so admirable.

getting down all those small trees and brush growing up is a blessing in an alone. Glad you did not distrub any rocks that looked buried in the ground cause those mark unmarked graves, and footstones for burials. so many times those little trees end up growing into big trees and then falling over on the headstones, [ which sadly i see in a lot of the older and more forgotten cemeteries.} WOW!! to see all those little trees and growth gone and the vines gone and it all cleaned up, Those there are in peace again. Thank you Both for all that you both did here, and making sure to find the person to get permission to do this. It is greatly appreicated. Your So right kevin, at some point, we are all forgotten, at some point. But if more of us, that still are able, pitches in to do a few hours or a day clean up on the older forgotten cemeteries like this, you work and effort will never be in vain. God sees all things and knows all of our hearts. They shall all be blessed in heaven. Looking for the next project.... Just a thought... There is a young man that I watch a lot, named Robert Wright, down in Waverly Hall Georgia, that is not only Singla handly TRYING to clean up parts of his own community, but also TRYING to rebuild and save the Old Bryd Farm that was in later history in his own family, and is over 130 yrs old. Would be awesome if you could do a project together there... weather it be one of the slave cemeteries or other forgotten cemeteries down there. God bless you both.

When we bought land to build our house back in 2016 it had an 1800’s cemetery on it. It had been untouched for probably 100 years. There was 6 inches of leaf debris we raked out and even discovered a headstone that had sank below the earth. It’s such as honor to take care of the little cemetery. I even made a point to look up all the people so I know who they were so they are no longer forgotten.

I find cemeteries full of so much history. Its a shame some are not maintained but it does happen. I myself have parents, a sibling. grandparents and a niece and nephew plus many dear friends buried in a national cemetery, i find it peaceful and such beauty in all those headstones in a straight line. The very old section is a history lesson written on headstones. Miss my loved ones but always leave after my visit with pride and continued ❤️

    Kevin and Dad,
You always do a fabulous job. You are correct, much of this country’s history can be seen in the out of the way places. Ironically, cemetery’s can be a history book and wealth of information about families. The plague of 1918, is one example. Hundreds of families were affected. My grandparents list 7 out of 9 children to the influenza epidemic, one was only a few days old. Anyway, thank you for your care and respect!

It’s so beautiful when the camera catches the movement of the blowing leaves. Like the paper bag in American Beauty movie ❤

When we go to the cemetery to clean our parents plots, we always do about 10 other random stones. I tell my wife I might need just a little more pull getting up through that light.🤷🏼‍♂️♥️👍🏼 Love you guys.🙏

    I must compliment you two!
The Niagara Falls bit was a hoot!
The community and two families are lucky you found that place.
    Most excellent!

What area of Arkansas were you guys in? I have lived in Arkansas my entire life. When I was younger there was an elderly couple that took care of a civil war cemetery and we would help them. When they passed away I would still go every couple of weeks to check on it. I lived in Southernmost Arkansas then, which is where all of my family still are. I moved to Northern Arkansas but still go back home when I can. I love what you guys do, there aren't enough people in the would who are selfless and willing to give up their time and energy for free.

It is a loving thing to do what you are doing there in that abandoned cemetery for the reminder of those who came before us and where many of us are headed. My family has been going the way of cremation in the passing of my my parents and siblings. Glad you are giving your time to places like this. Thanks for sharing, hope the family is well.

I always enjoy watching the collab between dad and son and this project was exceptional. Well done to you both. It was refreshing to watch this old cemetery breathing free of leaves and time. I am certain the souls of those who are there, enjoyed the clean up too. :) Respect and warm regards from Scotland.
