Did you know that if you have a copy of one of the albums that Selena recorded before she signed with EMI Latin in '89 - such as "New Girl In Town" - it can be worth anywhere from 60 to 500 dollars, depending on the shape it's in? I found a copy of "Mis Primeras Grabaciones" - in perfect condition- in a Dollar Store, of all places. Obviously, they had no idea how rare it was, or what it was worth. I'll never part with it, of course, but it's pretty unbelievable that I found it at all, considering that Mr. Quintanilla was supposed to have bought every copy of that particular album, for some reason. How it got to a Dollar Store near Syracuse, N.Y. , I'll Never know!

Those reissues are super rare too and I’m sure someone is willing to pay big bucks out there just to have one. I bought one copy at wal-mart in 2008, I remember I was in love with it and was so fascinated by the fact that this is THE Selena when she was 14. I loved it, but unfortunately it got lost along the way, it’s 2018 now. I’ve moved several times and just don’t know where it ever went. I wish I still had it!

But, you know your stuff. I've been a fan for quite a long time, and I always thought it was an album from the start.
Selena’s father confirmed that they never released an album entitled “The New Girl in Town.” That was made up by a Selena fan. The songs that were apparently on “The New Girl in Town” were actually just test singles released to local radio stations and local Tejano record shops in south Texas but they were to try out how well the public would accept Selena. Their first album was “Selena y Los Dinos” in 1984 which was later re-named “Mis Primeras Grabaciones” in 1995, and her 2nd album was “Alpha” in 1986.
