Solid film. Way overlooked
Well, because it didn't take 12 years to make.
If you like your films with a large dose of u.s military propaganda and a touch of islamphobia, then sure ..Great movie, but it clearly its not
Not a masterpiece, but a very solid film, very humane and perfectly well acted - especially by Bryan Cranston.
this one went right under the radar just like linklater's "everybody wants some" in 2016 which was also highly overlooked. also....any of the "before" trilogy films > boyhood.
WAS IT EVEN RELEASED?! Said it was out on Jan 26th - but I couldn't find one cinema in the UK playing the damn thing.
Is that a review?
andrew houghton Unfortunately the fact this is broadcast on 5 Live means all the reviews have to be structured around a rigid time limit. I kind of wish Kermode and Mayo's show would just go fully online in podcast form, but we are talking about the dinosaur BBC here.
kristopherm3 you're right, I guess I knew that. I just enjoy his reviews so much that I hoped for more
Kermode and Mayo desperately need to have a podcast, you're right. The radio is very much is a dying platform, countless surveys demonstrate that the youth of today barely touch radio. Much like live-television, it's just easier these days to watch or listen to content on your own terms.
I wish he would give 8 mins reviews to these type of films instead of the usual "supposed film of the month"
It was OK. I felt VERY ripped off that there was not one Neil Young song. That was very disappointing. Good try but there is something that just doesn't quit work in this film. I LOVED Slacker, Dazed and Confused and A Scanner Darkly. This one is not nearly as strong as those films but a pretty good film all the same. Bryan Cranston is FANTASTIC in his role.
I Tonya please Mark, Margot Robbie is amazing in it and it's a great watch
Why do people feel the need to go out of their way to trash Boyhood when it's anything remotely Linklater related? It's over, guys. It's no longer in the mainstream. Just let it go and let the people who like it like it
It was okay. Cranston (or his depiction of the character) really wore me down to the point I had to stop watching it if I ever wanted to see him act again. He became insufferable...
Yeah his character felt overly insensitive at times. I think the concept of the movie was good but tone was off. one scene where the colonel shouts at washington felt like it was in completely the wrong movie
Steve Carell in Vietnam? lol nope. not buying it. He sounds like a little mouse here.
TheLonesomeChef You know they were drafted, so unless you were physically unfit, you would go to war... Plus, he plays a military doctor...
