    Thanks man, hella great video. Every time I turn on my E30 it starts up, but quickly dies out so I have to rev in order to keep her running until she's warmed up. I'm pretty sure it might be the fuel pump.

      Captaain. C Thanks! Nice to hear good feedback. As for your problem, since your e30 only idles low when cold. I would start by cleaning the throttle body and also cleaning the idle control valve. Doesn't really sound like a fuel pump problem since it wants to die when its cold only. Let me know how it goes !

    Well, well, I’m on the side of the road and suspicious of the fuel pump as well. The car loses power when driving or when engaging the accelerator. When I start the car, it stutters and cuts off. I don’t hear the fuel pump with the car turned on but it makes a sound when I crank the car.

  • @Fastie

    Nice. Thanks for the video. My E30 is having problems with hot starts, it starts perfect when cold but I'll often have to give it a few cranks and hold down gas to get it going when hot. After reading a lot of people are saying it's a fuel pump going bad so I'll give it a shot. Thanks

    • @delsingh5897

    How do you know if you need a fuel pump? I needed a new throttle sensor and a mass airflow meter on a 20k mile 325i. Now it’s almost back to.
    Normal but I am told I may need a fuel pump.

    • @EricNomads7
      @EricNomads7  Před 5 lety

      Michael Siegel Usually if you have no starts or dies randomly. You can check fuel pressure to see if the pump is giving enough pressure as well.

    I have a 1990 bmw 325i. Runs great but recently started it started sounding like it was going to die out when pressing on the gas although it would still go. I’ve noticed it’s getting harder to start and while i was driving it today when I pressed on the gas it completely died out on the road but after a couple tries it turned back on. Could this be the fuel pump going bad? I’m pretty sure it’s the fuel pump causing these things. A lot of my vacuum hoses are new, fuel injectors are fairly new, fuel filter is fairly new, air filter, I’ve cleaned the afm, cleaned the icv, replaced fuel pressure regulator, fairly new spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor.

    So was it your relay or your pump that went bad? Curious why you had to jump the relay if it was the pump that was bad? I ask because my car is on the side of the road with these exact symptoms lol.

    • @EricNomads7
      @EricNomads7  Před 6 lety

      Lucas Johnsonbaugh The fuel pump was bad on mine. I jumped the relay to show that the fuel pump would run only after I hit the top of the tank meaning the fuel pump was failing.

    • @delsingh5897
      @delsingh5897 Před 5 lety +2

    • @EricNomads7
      @EricNomads7  Před 6 lety +1

      Well if you suspect the fuel pump, you can buy starting fluid and spray that into the throttle body while trying to start it. If it starts then you have a problem with the fuel pUmp most the time. Another thing is when it dies you can take off a fuel line and check if fuel comes out when your trying to start it. If nothing comes out check the connector for 12v. If you have 12v your pump is bad, if you don't it's something electrical. Let me know how it goes !

    Not sure why you replace the fuel pump when it shows it is working when jumped. Also e30 fuel pumps do not prime or make a noise as you suggest when you turn the key. You will probably figure this out yourself in time.

    • @EricNomads7
      @EricNomads7  Před 6 lety +1

      MsCelicagt4 Fuel pump was starting to go bad internally and wouldn't pump when given 12v (jumped). I would have to smack the top of the tank to get it to run, that's why I replaced the pump.
