i just dit 100mhp bar on my rustlet vxl on 3s only. on 54-17t on top of that. hou? change tire for talon extreme, Tqi module app and play whit program, Change diff for a slaler ratio, hellie bar of the stampied ans arms from the Slash for 2x mor rigid then RPM one🤷♂️✌️
I have a 2wd rustler I swapped it to brushless a d the fastest I got it to was 56 I don't try to make it go fast I had my messing around gears in but you had 17t in you could go do much faster
I really favored your video it was just really interesting the way you made this… Well yeah scary three cell 17 tooth pinion. I'm a scaredy-cat I'll probably stay forever on 2 cell batteries… I think for longevity it's probably safer. I still have the 17 tooth and reaching 40 mph yikes I think that's as fast as I'll ever want to go. What's your favorite battery do you stay three cell all the time?
Yes 3 cell all of the time haha. It was fun making the video, but yeah, it goes really fast with the top end gearing and 3 cell lipo

I run a 17t with nimh, Im just lazy and don't feel like buying the expensive traxxas lipo batterys and charger. So I've been stick to nimh for budget reasons

Are there any disadvantages running the 17T with the 3C Lipo??? Im really new to this and I just bought the Rustler 4x4 Ultimate. I dont want to fry any gears or anything so could I run that set up without having to worry about anything. I'll mainly be using it at the sand dunes in Oklahoma.

No, but technically you can as toy csn control your go pro with your phone. I was not though as there is a bit of delay and the truck is going to fast to risk watching the screen and not the truck in real life

Not really where is the lie it states on the box that 60mph with the optional pinion gear (17 tooth) 3s traxxas battery 5000mah+ he didn't used big enough battery also not traxxas high voltage battery. You odn't conut in the weight of the gps module plus the huge ass camera on top plus how it affects the airflow..... it's jsut physics which your teachers failed to teach you.
Does it track better without the giant camera on the roof? Thinking in buying one for my kid.
Buying the rustler? Or the gopro? Haha both are highly recommended. Yes, the truck does perform better without the big heavy gopro hero 7 black on the roof. Well worth it! I would say skip the brushed version. He will get bored of it quickly. Get the brushless, start with nimh battery, then upgrade to 2 cell then 3 cell lipos. Huge performance gains between the different batteries. Hope this helps!
I saw that you also had the Brushed XL-5 system installed. Do you by any chance tested what the speed of that setup was?
I never specifically tested the brushed setup with the gopro.. but I would guesstimate about 25mph with the 2cell lipo and the 17t pinion

No I did not. You dont need it honestly.

Correct, I have never changed the differentials. I have not touched them yet
I have the rustler 4x4 but converted to VXL-3S but is running only 30mph on 11/54 and 3S LiPo. Do you know why ? ESC is calibrated and mode 1 sport mode, thanks
That pinion isnt big enough. Try a 17T pinion. That will get you up to about 60mph

In questo video vengono usate batterie Li-Po a 3 celle su una macchina con motore a spazzola, non è consigliabile in quanto la macchina va con batterie al massimo a 2 celle e quelle originali al Ni-Mh sono da 8,4V....Non montate batterie a 3 celle (11.1V) su motori a spazzola TITAN. (CONSIGLIATO), ma se volete rischiare di bruciare il motore nessuno ve lo impedisce :)

What kind of telemetry are you using?
Jamarkis, thanks for watching, please consider subscribing! I am using the on board telemetry on my gopro hero 7. When you import the footage to GoPro "Quik" video editor it gives you the option to put in a speedometer and G-force meter. Do you have a rustler? Or just curious about the telemetry?
I own a rulster upgraded like yours but instead of the 3s system I put in a 6s system 😅 just need the highest pinion gear I can put in there for the 1/10th scale
@@09superdude Jamarkis, i cannot imagine the power with 6s, honestly the 3s is nuts standing backflips and approx 60mph with the 17t pinion gear.
I just talked to some people on the Traxxas forms and they said 22 is the highest pinion gear I can put on a stock spur gear so I'm going to try that out and if my results are good I'll stick to it if it's not what I want I'll probably have to upgrade the spur gear and pinion gear all together right now I'm just trying to find a way to fit two batteries on that small tray lol
that would have been my next question as to where you are putting the batteries. Also, for the money you are putting into the rustler, couldnt you have just bought an erevo brushless and kind of had the same results?
I have a Rustler XL-5 2wd that I'm going brushless with but still going to use nimh batteries. Should I expect comparable speeds? I'm also going to get a 9.6v battery too
I wouldnt spend the money to go brushless unless you use lipo batteries. Nimh dont have enough power.
@@GReviewz thank you for the response. I'm probably going lipo in the future, I just have serious concerns about lipo batteries. I have heard quite a few horror stories about them catching on fire and things like that
Yeah, I agree, but as long as you use a good charger, the traxxas esc's have fail safes built in so that they don't discharge them too much.

Haha, yes you are correct. The camera on top really affects the handling. Do you have an rc? Traxxas?
@GReviewz I have a Traxxas rustler stock, I was just using it outside and the motor / gears exploded. Idk what happened. When I press the trigger the motor makes a loud humming noise, but the wheels don’t move. I’m guessing the plastic gear got shredded from too much use, or I kept flooring it so hard the gear gave way. Now the only to fix it is take apart the WHOLE rear motor area to find out what’s inside that broke. I hope it’s just a cheap gear and not the entire motor, I dont want to spend a lot of money on fixing it.

When I try to turn the wheels manually the gear/motor make a loud grinding scraping sound.
Gaming cashew it is most likely your spur gear. Thst is the plastic large gesr that your motor spins. The one on the motor is called the pinion gear and that is metal. You most likely grinded your spur gesr if you motor wasn't tightened down well enough. Part number is 3956 54tooth 32 pitch spur gear.
GReviewz oh thank you do much! I opened the black covering and the black gear is shredded in on eaide, so the gear tooth’s got crushed or something, but I think I can fix it.
Yup the black plastic gear would be the spur gear I mentioned.

Blake, in the video i tell you specifically what setup I'm running in each run. I put in new driveshafts but that wont affect top speed.

With the stock spur and pinion, on 3s it still goes around 45mph
hello, i have the same 4x4 rustler with velineon 3500 brushless motor and 17T pinion, 3S lipo 4000mah, and the max speed is 48mph, why?
What are you using to measure your speed? How long were you going max speed? Are you sure you have the esc in lipo mode?
@@GReviewz I use a speedometer application on iphone which works very well, I stay at maximum speed for about 15-20 seconds. Yes my vario and well in lipo mode

..... please listen to what I'm saying in the video.. I installed the vxl kit after I purchased the brushed model.. plus.. the brushed only goes about 30mph... I clocked 57... definetly not brushed.

I know i'm a little late to this convo but I really want to know you put a 27 tooth on a velineon motor in this truck and it doesn't overheat on you with 3cell Lipo's?
