This one seems too culturally dependent to actually be able to quantify.
This channel talks about loads of things that are culturally dependent, only because tattoos are a literal product of culture do you notice it here. This channel talks about attractiveness in the modern times in the western world. It is very difficult to separate cultural influence, as almost all cultures are nowadays affected by each other
@@user-tx4wj7qk4tyou are unaware then
It's a cultural influence nowadays.
Demons, jokers, mermaids, clown, spouses, ex tattoos are a no from me tho
@user-tx4wj7qk4t There are some, like the Maori and some Inuit people. But those tattoos have real cultural significant and aren't just trends.
attractiveness in general is like 60% culturally dependent

I got a few tattoos around age 18-21. They’re all very small and discreet. Now at 25, I deeply regret it. I strongly encourage anyone young who wants tattoos to WAIT!!! You think you know what you’ll want forever, but you do not!! Just give it time, if you love the idea so much, then you’ll still love it in a few years. Lots of love.
I had the opposite experience. I didn't get my first tattoo until age 28 and now I wish I'd gotten more when I was younger. Turns out I knew what I wanted all along, and the one I have now is the same little symbol I've been drawing on my hand since like age 15, just on my hip instead. I'm thinking about a sleeve to cover my self-harm scars, but sleeves are expensive and hard to design, and those scars hold a lot of meaning, as ugly as they are.
I am 27 and I am so happy to got my tattos at 18
I am 27 and I am so happy to got my tattos at 18
That’s great that some of you had great experiences and wanted to share that, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it is better to wait and make sure you really want it so that you never regret it as opposed to getting something you could regret your whole life. I find tats in general to be incredibly trashy and unattractive now. Happy y’all are happy though.
I've got tattoos since I'm 15 and I'm now 29. All of them relate to music to I'm still very much in love with em' 🩵 Music tastes can change yes, but you will always remember how it made you feel at that special time 💚

You say it!
thats not such a bad thing if you want to remember something important or meaningful to you
I personally don’t care if someone finds me unattractive or automatically assumes I “have problems” because I have a tattoo. Mine is my best friend’s favorite flower: snapdragons. I got it after she passed away at age 35 from metastatic breast cancer. After I spent a few years as a part time caregiver for her. It got it in memory and honor of her, and I now carry around a piece of her memory in physical form. If that makes me unattractive or “problematic” to someone, that’s not anyone I want or need in my life. My best friend was very important to me.
Most people don’t get tattoos for any reason. That’s why I never liked them. But I don’t see a problem with people getting them for strong convictions or reasons like yours.

@@inihilisme1511 I don’t really fucking care. Just like how you ppl with tatts don’t care about my opinion,I don’t give a shit about yours. Tattoos are gross. Cry about it. You are under no obligation to listen to anything I have to say (assuming you’re an adult) but neither do I have to toe your stupid line and pretend they’re cool when they’re not. Not like I go around telling people with sleeves they’re gross,. That’s just disrespectful. But if you ask me if I’d ever marry someone with that shit or if I’d ever get any myself or tell my kids to get tattoos, I’m gonna give you a hell no. They’re disgusting.
Welcome to America, pal. You’re gonna come across a lot of people like me so get used to it. Not everyone is a trend follower, some people actually put thought into what they decide to do or not do with their bodies
I think it largely depends on other physical attributes as well. If you look unique already or dress interestingly, then tattoos will only amplify your creativity (aka personality) and in turn, make you more attractive. If you dress basic and look 'normal,' but you have tattoos, then people unconsciously judge their attraction to you based on stereotypes (men might think the woman is easier or too masculine/ women might think the man is tough and edgy), and whether or not that is attractive becomes subjective.
Nope Beckham would be a decent looking guy, celebrity or not, but he's got so many tats it's just nasty.

It completely depends on WHAT THE TATTOOS ARE ! I hate how these types of accounts miss this crucial point lol.
Preferring or not preferring tattoos is like saying I prefer my man to have lips and ears and elaborating nothing further , the content of the tattoos is extremely important and particular from person to person.
I also dislike comments like this because u missed the point of the video as well. He used peer reviewed sources (highest in the heirachy of studies) to draw a conclusion of how people percieve tattoos and attractiveness on AVERAGE. This means subjective thoughts are also incoporated inside data taking. Obviously, it's not extensively researched and the sample size is small like he pointed out as well, but it's just to give a general idea of peoples perceptions of tattoos. Of course there's multiple other factors such as type of tattoos, placement of tattoo, size of tattoo which all strongly impact how people percieve them but again, this is based on averages.
y'all surely don't understand how statistics work. For most people the reason is unrelevant, it's the thing being there or not!
From my experience, women will find attractive literally any tattoo, no matter how ugly it is
"Completely depends on what the tattoos are"? Not at all. That only applies for some people, just like everything. I just dont like tatoos. Idc what the meaning is behind them, what they are, nothing. I just dont find tattoos attractive. Id say there's like 4 groups:

I don't like tatoos, and Nowadays it's such the norm, so it's refreshing for a guy to not be tatted. Skin is sexy on its own. This may be a general study, but it is definitely different for each of us. I can see why a few might make a man appear more masculine, but I've just never found them attractive.
You don't like tattoos but you click on a video about tattoos. What is your objective here?
@Kimbuja777 I used to watch a lot of these Quoves, so I always clicked on them (esp the. Shorts) out of curiosity for the video (How does it Really Affect Attractiveness in males & females)? I like to read the comments to see peoples different P.O.V.s. I learn a bit more about the "why" and why not other than just my own opinion. Based on what the video said, I think it still varies on the individual appeal. A few, I think, fine, but the whole body tatted begins to look as if people are trying to cover up or hide behind them. And from a distance with so many tatoos, I no longer see human skin, I see like a reptilian look. I can not understand tatoos to that degree. I watched a show on here where they used make-up to cover all this young woman's tats, and she looked so different. You could see her and her natural beauty in her own skin. But, she felt so much better with all her tatoos. Turns out she was bullied when she was in her teens. My niece once told me that "it was either she tatoo herself or CUT herself. So, to me, for some, I see it as a cry for help. It's just a bandaid over wounds that they need to work healing. There's many reasons for people tatooing their bodies, but I don't think it's always an expression of beauty. Four out of six sisters, and all but one, don't regret their tatoos. I wish people would think twice about getting a tattoo because of its permanency and because we grow and change. Also, I wonder if that ink leaches into our skin and how safe it is? Imagine though you meet someone and you don't know they have the tatoos as their clothes didn't show them. So would that change your attraction to them if you liked their personality before you saw the tatoos? Or would you just not see them rather their personality? Would it seem a slight to them that you wanted to not see their tatoos, if they loved "their Body Art?" Or in time would you see them as they do, because they have such meaning to them and the person mean so much to You? 🤔My Objectivity - I guess - is curiousity, sharing, and understanding.

Nah the only way to do tattoos is to turn your body into a project. Most people look like they have random pictures drawn in random places on their body and now they just look silly naked. All or nothing!
To me they look like they just want to stand out and give the Illusion of being cool and interesting but most of them just get Tattoos from a cartoon or a comic or a mythological creature just because its "badass", to me its really childish.
Well that’s why they get tattoo in the first place. It’s a form of compensation and superficiality to their lack of being actually badass and masculine
I don’t like tattoos on anyone personally and on men it doesn’t signify strength, I’ll just leave it at that
It is not a sign of inner strength or maturity.
Permanent change based on a temporary feeling is not rational but related to the ego, to fear and anger, etc...
Tatoos are a form of violence on the body, and originaly come from violent cultures, for warriors, etc...
Now it is more a question of ego, where the ego wants to stand out,
I use to think I didn't care about tattoos until I realized there are so many that are terribly drawn 😅
So many cheap and poorly made that make people look like clowns.
If your tats are part of who you are & represent your spirit, you won't regret them.... as long as they are dope looking & the artist didnt botch it.

I am heavily tattooed & am both very mentally sound and successful in my career. granted, it’s a little culturally different here in nyc. I hope all you people who have those negative associations get to interact with more people that have cool art on their bodies to help dispel those biases ( :

There are studies that show they are correlated with shortsightedness, impulsivity, and risk taking behavior (USA). To hypothesize that tattoos may be correlated with mental instability as well isn’t that far of a stretch.

Awareness of biases is good. But do you do anything to challenge that bias? Like talk to and establish relationships with people with whom you have this perception (don’t necessarily have to date, tho)? Most people don’t have tats or crazy hair, but dysfunctionality exists within that population probably at similar rates if you’re in a culture where body mods are deemed more socially acceptable, like in many major US cities. If you’re in a culture where body mods are generally frowned upon I can see body mods maybe being a decent warning to look for the issues you describe, as going hardcore against social norms DOES generally indicate that something is running amok in the noggin (or, conversely, maybe they just like it and the environment isn’t a good fit for them). If you want an example, when I was an even younger adult and child I still suffered from cyclical depression and ADHD, but I had no body mods for you to automatically assume I had a mental illness and a neurological development disorder just by my appearance. I dressed rather conservatively, was a bookworm and worked hard to secure internships, and kept my fitness high. As I hit 21-25, I had tats and sometimes a crazy hair color. But my issues now are better managed with lifestyle, meds, and therapy tools under my belt. I’m much more emotionally stable as a result, but that may not be the impression people with your thought process get when they see my full sleeve (even though now I have my natural blonde haircolor). I also know other tatted people (including my own fam) that have stable, loving families, and untatted people that don’t but I do acquiesce that ink and piercings don’t hold as much judgement in my area of the USA as in other spots so you see normal, healthy people that deal with everyday normal struggles also get body mods here.
I will only get tattoos with personal meanings. Like the one I have now is a portrait of my old cat because I grew up with him and he meant a lot to me. I also plan to get some kind of animal symbols to represent my mom and dad because I love them and want something to remember them by after they pass away. Also as long as I’m able to cover them up (if I need to) then it’s fine. Definitely no hand or face/neck tattoos tho that’s bad 💀

This only works if you're an attractive man in the first place. Don't get tattoos just to increase your attractiveness.
To me, tattoos on women(if moderate) signify rebelliousness or maybe some mental issues, not masculinity. It depends on the type of tattoos and the person themselves

This girl in another video had gotten a full body tat that made look like she had cybernetics and an arc reactor in her after she got divorced...this someone who really lacking in control and wisdom. She was pretty hot and trashed herself for no good reason.
Because people so many people are neutral, against or love tattoos it’s hard to say whether this should be considered a factor when it comes to attractiveness.
Personally I dislike tattoos.
In my culture for millennia was a symbol of beauty and adulthood (North Africa) so it's cultural based
I have three smaller tattoos and they all hold some sort of meaning. Now at 26, I do wish I would have stood up for myself when I got one a few years back and not let the artist pressure me into changing my idea, but i don’t HATE it either. Just not EXACTLY what I wanted.
I love my tattoos. They'll help me find my person because they'll understand them and the journey they represent. They also remind me of how far I've come. Best decision after regular exercise and proper diet for my body. And as childish as this may sound, they made me significantly cooler than I was a few years ago lol. For those who get the symbolism it allows us to connect right away and for someone who can be nervous with new people, it had helped a lot. People also think twice before talking to me and judgemental freaks stay away because "I'm a bad girl who's probably promiscuous", even though I don't believe in casual s3x. I'm happier and more confident.
It's easier to be conventionally attractive but don't compromise recording meaningful things because of what people will say. For some, a permanent mark is a reminder that they intentionally want to carry for the rest of their life, sometimes to keep going or to hold a loved one they lost.
Tattoos have become conventional
I thought about getting a tattoo for like 2 years. Ended up going with a full sleeve Polynesian tattoo. I love it because it has my country’s flag symbols 🇵🇭 and I made sure the patterns look amazing. I also got inspired getting one cuz of the men I look up to, they also have sleeves.
YO who is that lady with the high tier protection tats holy shit she's a legend.
Tattoos aren’t permanent. One day your body’s gonna decompose and it’s not gonna matter what tattoo you got.
Im pretty heavily tattooed according to most people so maybe im a bit biased but I do think tattoos are generally attractive. Placement and the art itself is very key. I do think sometimes when people get their ENTIRE body done it looks a bit overwhelming and distracting so I focused on my arms and possibly a back piece in the future. Face tattoos are never good looking to me personally, or neck. Generally speaking anything that doesnt look well planned out doesnt look that all appealing to me.
i dont have tattoos but i do like people witj a lot of tattoos
when someone has just one singular tattoo i feel like it looks super weird and out of place. For example, if u just have a random bird tattoo on ur arm it looks kinda empty

You aren't a sacred cow beyond any feedback. If you can't handle it, stay off the internet isntead of expecting everyone to coddle your fragile ego. If you actually had impulse control or were secure in your decisons you wouldn't validate the judgment by screaming "OMG stop judging me!!!" That just screams weakness, which down deep you know it's probably true which is even worse. Live with that truth. If that bothers you, change something in positive way instead of telling others to deny it.
I am 41 and have tattoos (before) like Angelina Jolie. I have a love/hate relationship with them as in the 90s tattoo artists were rough biker types and now it is like fine art from Art student types. I like that they are based on my Eurasian heritage and archaeology which I have studied. I have lasered some off but mainly due to being poorly done by the artist. I am in two minds still as to go 100% tattoo free due to pain/cost of removal and it being so much a part of my identity for 25 years. I got heavily tattooed BEFORE it became cool with hipsters lol.
that’s you in the picture at 41? You look good
I'm 6 ft tall. Very confident about myself. Don't need a tattoo to get women. Work on your character instead and work out. 🎸🤘
Sydney looks so much better with the tattoo omg

I rather prefer to buy clothes and accessories than allowing somebody else to "express" through my body. Tatoos are just tacky 😖
Imo, I don't mind them but I'm just not a big fan of them a lot of the time. They can be cool but unless you're committed, putting something permanent on your body for now may take a toll later.
I will say I have been fairly heavily tattooed for about 20 years now ( nothing on my throat, face or hands) and I feel like I definitely get hit on more when I’m in short sleeves or a tank top.
There’s a “ bad girl” stereotype. Usually it’s much older men but there’s also this creepy trend of men in their early twenties ( I’m 40) hitting on me more often.
I will also say I think my partner is more attractive now with his full arm sleeve. I thought I liked him more clean cut but it’s not the case.
Obviously it’s a matter of context, and in most cases it’s insignificant when you control for everything else that affects attractiveness. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that
Why do people think tattoos make someone look cool?😂 never been impressed. As for attractiveness, women with tattoos are way less attractive
I can explain - many people have mental problems - and like other people with mental problems. Men with tats - more likely to be an asshole - women like strong confident men who take no shit - assholes often act the same way. Plus mentally unstable women often find them "exciting" Tats on girls - sign of mental health issues = great sex, bad relationship. So men like them for short term fun.
@@yasueyoum1631 no shit😂 ur not smart for figuring out opinions exist
@@SatanFollower1could ask the same. Why do people think tattoos make someone unattractive? Like tattooed men/women are sexier than your average men/women

lol i dont find tattoos on men masculine.
Tattoos in indigenous cultures are a right of passage.
For women it depends on essence
I cannot see a scenario where a women with tattoos would be more attractive than without
Ummmm not really!
I feel like depending on the persons style & quality of tattoos, they can either make someone look more interesting or pretty skanky. Basically, dont let your roommate's cousin use your skin to build his portfolio lol
Exactly. Its kinda crazy go generalize all tattoos, just like art some are amazing and some are just ugly
Don’t be conformed by this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
I think it comes down to how each individual feels about tatoos. My family doesn't like tatoos at all. And most people i ask (I'm 15) say they want 1 small tatoo. Not medium. And some people just look like a grade one's colour-in book.
Well, THANK GOODNESS I don't get tattoos because I care about how other people feel about them! the whole point you all seemed to miss is that it's about SELF-EXPRESSION, it is MY body and part of decorating it with the art *I* want is the empowerment of reclaiming my own autonomy, in spite of what others think/say/feel about it.
Your son trying to justify a turd tattoo.
33 yrs old & around 50+ tattoos mostly large ones. I don't care if others think it's "masculine" I'm 4ft11 with an hourglass shape I'm probably the odd one out of that study definitely not a little boy with a huge chest 😂 do whatever makes you feel good in your own skin!
I find women with big tattoos very attractive. Even on their head, but that’s me having unique taste
@@TetsuoTakayamaCyberpunk "unique taste" Just call it what it is, a fetish. lol lmao even

In my experience, people with tattoos have almost ALWAYS had some sort of emotional instability and mania.
Not really, it's sometimes because of culture like Maori or mine :amazigh. We are not crazy, we actually protect our past and History.😊
It makes women look tougher, yes please (and I say this as someone who very much does not swing that way)
In my opinion, tattoos can have a positive effect in terms of attractiveness on attractive people with their aesthetic bodies not on the mediocre people. Frankly speaking, me and most people have really negative bias towards the people who have too many tattoos. Besides some people have really cringe, low IQ indicator tattoos that they can effect their attractiveness in a negative way.
Clean skin look better
I like the look of healthy skin. Tattoos make people look dirty and not in a good way. Can't explain it otherwise.
Can you explain how the Australian accent influences attractiveness?!
I don't find tattoos attractive
My tattoos are for me, not anyone else. I’m able to cover all of my tattoos with a tank top & capris. So if someone wants tattoos, that’s their decision.
Edit: I fixed it 👍

You're an inspiration for the future generation. ❤ Wonderful handwriting, by the way!
ion got tats but when I get some, my tats gon serve as motivational purposes
Tattoos used to mean originality and a degree of edginess, now that so many people have them, it simply looks conventional, and to me it means "I'll go for any trend if its popular enough. Even put permanent ink on my body." If it weren't for shows like INK, etc, people wouldn't be sporting tattoos all over the place and it wouldn't be such a fad. Soon skin without tattoos will be most desirable. It's just a matter of time.
Yes, I AM biased because I worked in a nursing home, and the tattoos on these poor elderly folks were just awful. No matter how good artwork is on a tattoo, it doesn't look the same when faded and on wrinkly and or sagging skin. It's probably the reason why to this day I would never get one.
And tattoo removal is expensive, painful, and time consuming as one has to go back for multiple visits even for a small tattoo.
Nahhh not really!!
A pure, untouched woman's body will always be more attractive than a woman with tattoos.
Same for men.
Hehehehehe silly 😭💀
In men, I don’t prefer neck tattoos, sleeves, or just too many.
In women, I personally think little to none is more attractive, no neck or sleeves
The picture of Sydney with the tattoo has been dulled or the saturation is lower.
First impressions are rarely the best or most accurate impression of the person. Someone having tattoos shouldn't lead to any judgements about their mentality or maturity.
Not true for men, I live in a country where most men wear tatoos. I see daily lots of nerdy, beta and baby faces wearing them. It's also associated with lower class. It has become so ordinary and boring, not to mention it stops being cool when you see them on everyone
Lot of people lack imagination and originality and would do everyone a favor if they resisted temptation to get a tatoo.

Never thought they were attractive but I used to think they were badass till I saw the people who would have them nowadays 💀
I’ll never get one. They don’t look good to me. God made me this beautiful body. I don’t want to mess with that. Besides, I don’t need tattoos to show I’m “masculine.” And people with tattoos tend to be annoying, so I have a negative bias towards those people.
I guarantee you are magnitudes more annoying
😭😂
I think is because men are attractive to women that aren't a treat to their masculinity so a women with a tattoo means she was able to endure that pain, also endure the stigma that comes with it, I admire those women and some men like that but majorty don't, in other hand a man with tattoes is just a confirmation of his masculinity, so of course some women would find that attractive but other would probably not because of the stigma.
I feel repulsed by tattoos, even if it's just one tiny piece. I absolutely don't think it makes men attractive... quite the contrary.
Okay no need to shame people for your preferences
Problem is that most people go to a local tattoo artist and the results are often bad. It’s rare for me to find people with good tattoos on the street. Also for guys, it depends on the archetype you’re portraying and the body you have. Tattoos don’t look good on an unhealthy body
It all depends on the tattoo designs and placement. I know lots of weirdos who get random tattoos all over their arms as if they’re stickers lol. Anything from their favorite Pokémon to cats, hearts, stars, logos, cringe phrases, etc
I think in women tattoos scream “I’m easy” or “I make poor choices” which certainly increases the odds that a man will hit on them for sex but it also makes it less likely for that woman to be considered as serious relationship material.
Mad people are late on student loans, but found that money for a stupid tat
I heard that some super ancient people used to do tattoos because it helped with pain in those areas? Is there any truth to that? I know it tests your pain tolerance in general getting tattoos and some places hurt worse getting them done, but does it actually help with pain or pain sensitivity in those areas when you get one or have them done a certain way in certain areas?
Tattoos were more interesting before everyone and their grandmas got them. Originally, they were distinguishing and were a symbol of rebellion. Now they symbolize conformity.
Nope cringe
