CONTEXT - I own 2 OLEDs the LG CX and the LG BX which I bought and paid for as I did the Samsung Q90T. I absolutely love the OLEDs but they are super reflective! And before everyone says this is a paid for video by Samsung it's not.
bad panels qleds learned me lesson
I have a CX as well, I don't have any issues with reflections
I received my Q95t on Saturday, 12th December, wall mounted it, after about an hour, the picture jumped as I heard a noise combining from the frame, and the back of the TV has pulled away from the screen at the top, not good enough on a TV costing this much, I'm sending it back for a refund.
@@sparx2391 mines getting picked up in the morning money back the panels are diabolical I've got a q90r £2.500 and there refusing to fix it under warranty nothing but headaches
You've got very good taste in decor....warm and homely...with lighting strategically placed. Well done. Cheers.
Very well articulated. These are some factors that as consumers we don't think about at all but are actually super important in the decision making process. Thanks for the explanation.
I've been trying to convince myself that an OLED would work in my very bright living room... Thanks for the reality check! Q90, it is.
Honestly I have an LG C8 OLED in my large TV room which has all white walls, a set of patio doors at one side of the room and a large window at the other side. I've never had an issue with the OLED's brightness and have never experienced any reflection issues that weren't apparent on every flat panel TV I've ever owned. Don't deny yourself an OLED because of online videos. Try it for yourself and I bet you'll love it. OLED's are plenty bright and the TV will blow you away. If I had listened to the reviewers talk of brightness levels I'd never have made the jump to OLED and now I'll never jump back to LED.
Oh, and I hope you stayed away from the Q90. The panels are awful apparently. Check out The Tech Giant's screen uniformity video on YT. Good luck whatever you choose
I'm looking to buy a tv for a bright room with 2 windows and had been looking at the LG C1 and the samsung Q95a. This video has answered all the questions I had and addressed all the concerns i had about an OLED in a bright room. Thank you. Great video
I went for the Q90T for overall brightness and better reflection performance. Once again I watch sports in the daytime.
Yeah, that's what preventing me from pulling the trigger on an OLED. NFL Sundays would suck.
THANK YOU! Amidst all the paid adverts, sponsored TVs & QLED bashing.. I found this to be extremely useful for a tech idiot like me 😅 as the environment in whichever TV would be put in, is crucial mitigating factor. Grateful that you point this out & did the comparison. I agree not one is better than the other; similar to “one man’s poison is another’s treasure”. For a family with young kids (daytime watching cartoons) and if in luck, date nights watching movies - QLED works better for us. Writing in from Singapore, thank you once again! 🙏🏻
Definitely this guy review is the best about Oled vs Qled. I bought the 77" A80J oled not knowing my very bright living room makes it impossible to watch the TV image during daytime, with glare, reflection is all you can see. It gives me headache, so I went to Costco TV expert and he told me to return the Oled and buy 85" qn85a. Big difference, daytime watching tv is now possible, nightime too neo Qled is almost the same blackness picture quality. Oled is good only on no lights TV room, dark room style room.
The qn85a, is it a LG?
X95 L from Sony is the closest to oled compared to any companies and happily using it in a very bright living room. Even side angles viewing is perfect
Thnx for not adding to the discussion but pointing out that it is a choice between differences. I bought the 65QN92B (no one box needed, and that's the main difference I believe) Personally I can't stand reflection and prefer a more natural image which the QLED provides. Be happy with a OLED or a QLED and let others be happy with it too. I'm not batman and have a light room. Great video and lovely voice!
Best buying decisions for the past few years when I buy flat screens or smart TVs LOL. I always look at the light reflection from the store to see how bad it glares before buying it after picking out the 1 I want.
Good thinking!
Brilliant, I have an extremely bright room and you are the only person yo truly show a light reflection test.... I'm off to buy Qled 😁
I'd sooner use blinds/blackout curtains and have a better picture quality and experience 🤷🏼
@@shutitfukface So on a nice bright sunny day you’d be willing to stay in darkness just to be able to watch tv? No way I could ever feel good about forgetting how gorgeous it is outside while watching a great football game on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Something just seems wrong with that scenario.
You have a very nice choice of interior colors and choices :) I like your apartment.
I think it also comes down to preference. Qleds and Oleds can both do things which the other can't. For viewing angles and black levels you can't beat an Oled. However in terms of brightness, vibrancy and colour you can't beat a Qled. I personally gravitate towards the bright and punchy displays. They also have a good reputation for longevity and Oleds can get burn in. However having said that they are both great technologies and I think most people would be happy with either of them.
Wise words, thats why I have both!
I have them side by side on my very bright room 77" A80j vs 85" Qn85a, I can tell you that Oled is not recommended, it will give you headache watching that TV image with glare and reflection is all you can see during daytime. I return the oled and keep the Qled, the advantage is very clear, nighttime comparison, no lights, I would say Qled can compete with blackness, not noticeable blooming. I don't think anybody watches TV on angled viewing, since I return the Oled without this angled comparison, I can't tell who is the winner.
I own a LG Oled E9 and have that issue. And nothing compares to the picture Quality. And the summer time an OLED doesn't throw off heat like QLED.
@All things tech. You have answered a question I've been struggling with for sometime in trying to decide what TV to buy
Great information thank you
I actually had bought a C8 OLED two years ago, and returned it less than a week later because my room is too bright. Got a Q80R instead. Excellent video
Really good video. My living room has 5 windows and 2 internal doors where ligh can come in. I watch sports more than I watch movies so picture quality value for money I can't justify an OLED.
Thanks. This made my decision for me. Just bought the Q90t
I have an LG oled Bx. Honestly, it does have a lot of reflection. The screen is almost mirror like. Although I don't mind, the image quality is superb, and I usually game during nights so it doesn't bother me that much. I'll say is a good trade for the display quality.
worth to note - new C3 evo panels are much brighter, and E3 even more... imo true flaw is the one you can't mitigate... bad grey blacks in low light and halo backlit effects are not solvable...
I got a QN90B and I knew I would get some reflection but hardly anyone talked about the rainbow effect, it's really bad and distracting so much so that I am thinking of returning it. Problem is I got it during black Friday sales at a bargain so replacing it with and LG C2 or S95B would be a very big jump in price. Is this a question of playing panel lottery and trying my luck with a different one or am I just doomed with that model?
I got the q95t cause of gaming and fear of burn but good to know oleds suck in bright rooms thanks for the info
Thanks for watching!
Good food for thought. I've wanted an OLED for some time but our family room is fairly bright during the day. Thanks for giving me something to think about.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Dont be misslead man OLED is the way to go Qled is cheap shit, oled is way better its almost like comparing a ford, Qled to an / aston martin OLED
@@Cricis11700 I got 24 windows (yes, 24) in my living room (it's a massive living room in a mansion), there's no way I'm buying an OLED. What's the point of having the better picture quality if you can't enjoy it ?
@@Pierronimo8764 if you did live in a mansion and actually had the kind of money you're making it seem like you do, you wouldn't be saying such dumb things.
Obviously in your giant 24 window living room you would use a QLED or you'd have enough money to actually drop on a nice MicroLED set, not MiniLED/QLED like us poor peasants.
Then you'd have the biggest OLED you can buy and place that in another room where you actually have more flexibility in controlling the light pollution. Literally everything you said would lead people to believe you're talking out your a$$.
Edit: or better yet Richy Rich why don't you get some powered curtains and then control them with some tablet, one push of a button and you have darkness.
Imagine not owning blinds/curtains...
Any chance we could get your calibrated setting for the q90t. Please 🙏
Still tweaking - will do soon
@@allthingstech I'd also love to see the settings. I have a q90T that I love, and am always looking for a professional's opinion on settings.
Any chance you have your preferred picture settings? Would love to try them out.
@@allthingstech Waiting for it!
I thought you were being sarcastic at the 40 second mark. With OLED you have a stronger reflection on a quarter of the screen. With that QLED you have a slightly duller reflection that spans the entire screen and the added benefit of those reflections being oddly distorted which messes with my eyes more than the outline of a lamp. I'd stick with the OLED. Picture quality + Contrast - slightly worse glare > QLED.
$30 for a roll of 3M window tint would've been an actual improvement in glare with next to no noticeable window viewing impairments. Might've helped with cooling bills too, unless you rely on sunlight in the winter for extra warmth.
Thanks for the video, not many reviewers talk about this very important subject. I am thinking about buying the new QD-OLED, either sony or samsung. Do you think this technology will help out in a somewhat bright room?
Thanks for the video mate.
Some good information shared 👍
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it
I got a Sony A8 and I’ve got one main window to the side of the room which is north facing. I don’t usually watch much tv in dialogue anyway. I personally can’t stand how over saturated and bright the qleds get it really puts me off. I prefer the natural look of oled. However to each their own
Just ordered an A8 (guess your from europe as well?) I have an 4x2.5m window north site and bright floor and walls. My current TV has a max of 400nits and I have it on 45%. I think the A8 will be fine. Never put a window in front of any screen.
@@silklion7375 I am indeed. Couldn’t believe the price at £1300. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever. I really enjoy watching movies in the dark with some occasional ambient lighting and it’s such an immersive experience. I don’t game on my main tv so an LG CX wasn’t worth getting for me. Hope you enjoy it bro!
@@adumowumo ye for me it was the same price but in euros. I like to game and watch movies but an LG was 200-300€ more and the A8 can still output 1080p120 but I will mostly play 4k60 anyway. So unlike all the people, this TV is still good for gaming.
@@silklion7375 fair enough sounds like we both picked up a great deal! For sure for gaming it’ll be excellent. Honestly I can’t stand the LG and Sony die hards that fight to the death on both. It’ll no doubt be incredible with the new consoles
I have a very bright room and my LG C1 OLED still looks absolutely amazing. Ive had every kind of TV made and the OLED has been king!
I would go the q90T
Most of my TV usage is at night, so OLED is still the best for me
Oled is the king of TV viewing. Even if they struggle with detail just above black I still find the picture on another level.

awesome! a common sense video from someone who has two of the best tvs out there now...I'm trying to decide between these two...I kind of prefer the 90T (my current TV is a Samsung KS8000)..but the reports of DSE etc discourage me a bit...My room is not as bright as yours but I don't want to worry about a TV that may suffer from burn-in a few years from now...I'm concerned about the samsung getting too bright at night (but I always install a bias on the back of my TVs) when watching TV at night (with some ambient lighting on)...do you notice any DSE on the Samsung? I want a 75" (I have a 65" now but I'm moving to a new place). Thanks for your video!
Thanks for watching, Ive not noticed any yet, I will do a test after a month or so and post it.

I like the reflections tbh.
I have LG oled and The reflective panel is terrible. Perfect blacks are worthless When u have the Perfect Mirror. Is there any Oled panel with Antireflactive coating like my Sony XH95 ?
My 2007 Vizio has a 100% matte screen. Even with patio door across from it you see no reflection even with the tv off. It is just black matte looking. I also have 6 bulb LED dining light in direct path at night and I see nothing on the screen at all. Wanting to upgrade to a larger 50 inch size but even the ones now you can see reflection when they are off which means you are going to get some glare as the screens still have some gloss in them. Please bring back the total matte screen.
If you had to choose only 1 tv, would you choose OLED 65GX or 75Q90T? Mostly for sports, movies and gaming on next gen. TIA
Ditched a Lg E6 for an Q90r just for the same reasons . The reflections on the E6 drove me nuts even at night i could see those damn curtains . The Q90r does a much better job and is as close to oled as you can get with that kind of lcd technology together wit the panny dx 902 and Sony zd9 . Sadly Samsung hasn't any Dolby Vision content which is becoming more and more a huge letdown.
The Q90R was a great TV better than this years range imo
E6...3d❤
Does anyone know what mount is being used for the Q90T? I am looking for a close to the wall mount and just bought the 2020 model.
Can you do a comparison between the q90t and q80t? We don’t have the q90t in my region and the q80t is the best we have here.
I have the 75 80t my friend.. Beautiful pic and love the wide viewing angle.. 90t is just brighter with more dimming zones they use the same processing. Just got the new Tcl 635 mini qled in bedroom and thats best bang for buck
What about the LG G3 which is already bright, but are the reflections improved?
I've ordered the Q95t
🤣
@@muzzaaaaa2848 I had the Q95t for an hour, heard a noise coming from it, amd the picture went weird for a few seconds , checked to make sure the wall mount hadn't come loose, and the frame at the top had pulled away from the screen, so I sent it back for a refund, thinking of getting a panasonic instead.
My tv.... Yeah, go on, have a laugh... Is a 24 inch crt and is 30 years old. Now... They have very reflective screens, but it doesn't bother me. And my room is south facing and very bright during the day (well, when the suns out), and at night low light. I sooooo want an oled, but as you say who wants to draw the curtains in the day time! I'm. Torn between the 42 inch oled and sammys 43 neo qled (I can't go any larger). It's an expensive decision to get wrong. HELP😬
Try a 2010 CCFL TV, from Sony, probably 40 bucks second hand (they tend to sell for around 1 buck per inch). Matte, nice warm CCFL colours, great blacks, best transmissive TV's ever made.
La liga, champions league, the world cup, premier league. Is what i see during the day and i have a sliding door that leads to the balcony so my living room is bright. 🌞. Netflix is for after 9pm SO WHAT TV SHOULD I GET!?
As well as those are two different technologies, the utilisation is more efficient for some environment than other, depending of the technology again. Qled doesn’t win over oled , as well as in the Other side...
since you know your usage and where you will watch you tv, you will make the right choice. So the tittle is wrong 😉
"WHEN..." 😉
I picked up this tv in may. I love it.
It is Samsung's best TV this year and a great price now.
@@allthingstech do you think q90t is a downgrade from q90r from last year? thank you.
@@swinoob616 yes probably, it seems the same with most TVs in 2020. Not as good as, or not much better than 2019 versions

How come you connected your SONOS with the Samsung TV when it doesn’t support Dolby ATMOS.
Great real world test of the two technologies.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the content 👍
Lots of remarks about the LGs being particularly reflective though, not sure all the oleds can all be tarred with the same brush
The Panasonic HZ980 oled has anti reflection coating so does not have the mirror like reflection issues of the LG oleds. Not all oleds were created equal!!
I’m actually getting a little tired of the whole qled debate. Samsung did their marketing right, because people are of the assumption that “qled” means better brightness, anti reflectivity, deeper colors etc. But there is a huge difference between the tiers. The q90 has all the things but the q60 doesnt have any beside the fact that it has the qd color filter, but still lacks a lot of color depth because of its lack of brightness and contrast.
Other tv’s have wide color gamut filters like nanocell on lg or triluminos on sony, yet people regard them as “just an led” while qled isn’t even that much different
What soundbar is that in your video. Sonos Arc?
Can you please tell me how you used led strip behind your TV? I don't want to stick the led strip to the back of the panel as its so thin I'm worried the heat from the led strip will affect the panel/screen.
I think it's a Philips with ambilight built in. 😀
Thank you for the information. You must be rich as Midas. 2 large OLEDS & a large QLED?!!?
had q9fn no problem got last years q90r £2.500 gathering dust vertical banding on full screen now onto 2nd q90t dse is the worst panel I've ever seen so maybe add that in.
Is the samsung better in handling day light than the sony h90?
iv got a big patio window at the side of my tv which isa samsung q7 that im upgrading to the q90t was looking at the oled cx but unsure it will work also my tv is on all day prob over 12 hours how would the oled hold up
This is kind of a good video about an important topic, but with the wrong conclusion. The correct conclusion is that a brighter TV with better reflection handing is preferable in a bright room, if it happens to be OLED, LCD (or as Samsung like to call it, QLED) or anything else is really besides the point. That said, a good LCD is usually better if you have a really bright room, the specific brand of it not so much. Now, Samsungs LCDs are probably among the better you can get these days.
You're forgetting that OLEDs can't be as bright because they will suffer from burn-in and ALLLLL of them have reflective screen finishes.

Are there no oleds with anti glare coatings? Seems odd to create products with no consideration for living spaces.
None that I’m aware of, it would likely make them even darker
Yes, the LG BX, CX, GX, WX and RX OLEDs all have anti-reflective coatings but they are not as effective as the ones on the Samsung Q80T, Q90T and Q95T QLEDs.
This Title is misleading, here si the real deal: I got a Samsung QN90A, as well as a LG C1. The QN90A had such a bad blooming, specially when there was light in games at night, like read dead reremption 2 and such. Not only the blooming, but the local dimming was awful as hell. It dimmed already dark scenes, even darker making the whole thing shitty. The reflection handling on the QN90A had no diffrence then a C1, it was about the same...
Worst Part: The Neo QLED had the worst backlight bleeding and a yellow tint, fucked up...
I have the same reflection issue, is there any other cheaper option than the Q90?
Nanocell LG
Great video. Yeah I think oled just doesnt fit with a normal average environment. Who lives in a cave right? So refelections aside....which has the better picture?
Well I mean one could also ask, who watches tv all day long. So I'd sooner just close blinds/curtains when I do watch and enjoy the superior picture quality.
To answer your question, in a light controlled room the OLED will always hands down look better and they produce a sharper image due to their self emissive pixels. In a super bright room with reflections, well obviously the QLED would look better because you wouldn't be able to really see the OLED (again depending on how bright and direct the light in the room is).
@@shutitfukface Yeah thanks. So oled rules in a dark room. But lets be realistic...not everyone works right? And not all evenings are dark. People do watch tv and play games in the daytime, and most front rooms have windows.
I hope oled gets proper bright one day to solve this
Sorry but you only showed footage with a lots of dark - this is very selective. I heard lots of OLED users who said that unless the tv set is under direct sunlight, the LG C1 OLED is bright enough with not much glare. And this is mainly an issue when the scenes are black. The daylight programmes people watch are mostly sports (as you said), news, cartoons, shows and less so movies, not to mention that only a small part of the movie takes place in dark. I heard userd who said that they had an LG C1 OLED and a Samsung QLED 90NA next to each other in a bright room and that the OLED was better 80% of the time. Logical since OLED > QLED if its cloudy, if there is no direct sunlight on the tv, in all scenes where there is no dark and during the evening/night. That roughly corresponds to 80% of the time. It is just not true that OLED works only in total darkness. Actually the LG C1 is brighter than most low-end/average LCD TVs and people watch the latter in brightly lit rooms.
When ? ... Never
If you want to fk up your eyes and want to wear eye glasses get the Qled. If you love your health and great movie picture deep black and real 3D effect get the Oled
It needs to be said that Samsung has the best Anti-Reflective tech of all the manufacturers. The LG C1 will beat most other manufactuerers and lower end Samsungs.
Except, my old 2008 Sony Bravia TV also has a great anti-reflective tech. It's not like Samsung is doing magic, it's just that everyone else must not be doing anything about it.
Not all oleds have this mirror like reflection, Panasonic hz980 has anti reflection coating which is better than that Samsung rainbow coating!!
I've not had one in that has that. I will try and get hold of one, thanks for watching!

@@allthingstech Control algoritm is important too, and that TV is probably lacking a good one
I use my cx in a normal living room with a bifold door so plenty of light coming in, on a night we a lamp on and down lights on behind us. Except from when it's pixels start to die, yep... that happened. Also, the HDR is kinda shitty too compared to SONY or LG. It's also overly saturated, annoing whites in PC mode, freesync bugs that haven't been fixed for over 2 years, always having to manually connect to my bluetooth audio device every time I turn on the TV, broken sharpness adjustment, it goes from blurry to noisy, default only being blurry as hell, especially at lower resolutions. Response time is good though, and freesync... if you manage to get it working. Honestly, anything else is better though, even some cheaper LEDs, like the Sony X900H, but anything really! Just not QLED!
Sounds like you've had some bad luck!
Don't forget, having OLED opposite to sunlights - you will have it on screen permanently eventually :D
Oh yeah!
Qleds are horrific in a dark room
No they're not haha
This is not true. If you want to see the reflection on both the TVs while you are in the store, use your flash light of the phone and see what gives you more reflection. Nothing can beat the OLEDs. This video seems like a paid version of SS marketing, TBH. OLEDs can make the QLEDs eat the dust. Why don't they talk about that SS does not have a Dolby vision support on their TVs. They can't process the Dolby vision signals where most of the content on Netflix and Amazon Prime is encoded on Dolby vision
This is so funny. Have 2 OLEDs the BX and CX and I love them but reflections in my settings are an issue!
OLED is a revolutionary product. Can't you get that
R u stupid read his first comment which is even pinned
Shamim begum is at your window.
This is not doing justice to the consumers out there
I dont care how good you think Qled is, Qled will NEVER EVER compare!!!! Stop misleading people into buying less for more!! OLED OBLITERATES THE COMPETITION!!!!
OLEDs are dim AF. I'll take a qled with at least a few hundred dimming zones any day of the week.
I have two OLEDs and they beat the competition at night!
Oleds are dim and depressing. Can't stand the black crush and lack of detail in dark scenes on Oleds. Black on black detail is inferior on Oled tvs. Qleds have better colour vibrancy and brightness and better for hdr content 🙂
