Anyone else wonder how Frieza knows what a minute is? 5 minutes on his home planet must be equal to 200 earth minutes. That would've made way more sense

In the show Goku and Krillin are childhood friends, Krillins death is the catalyst for Gokus transformation because of how much Goku loves Krillin. They don't acknowledge it as much in DBZA

It’s crazy because if you watch the kai version Goku tells frieza “I will make you suffer”
That transformation still gives me goosebumps
One thing to mention is that this moment is the first time Goku completely loses his shit and rages out. The last time that happened was when he fought Demon King Piccolo when he was still a kid.
The thing that's so special about this is that at the time, no one knew what was going on. Everyone was wondering what this new form was and was it possible that it was a Super Saiyan that Vegeta was talking about?
Seroiusly, my buddy and I would watch it after school and then talk about it the next day in class. The day after this episode finally aired we couldn't shut up about it lol.

Perfect Cell if anything i think curtis should watch the whole series starting at db just like 1 episode a day and split the episode in half so it does not get pulled that way he get to know the real characters and dbza should be more intertaining and funny for him and us

You're right with the ssj3 but I don't think he should watch gohan ssj2 since that won't take to long to get to. Then again...the original does it so well and we don't know how TFS will do it so it might make more of an impact if he watches the original..idk

This was one of my favorite moments, not just because of how badass it is, because it really spoke of how much Goku cared about Krillin. They were best friends after all. Speaking of that, you should really react to the fight between Goku and Krillin in the original series! I remember loving the tournament arcs the most, and I fangirled when Goku and Krillin fought. I'm sure its mostly nostalgia, but I really loved that scene.

I think the Kai's version was better.. Goku's transformation in this version felt pretty anticlimactic.
munku121 the kai version was waaay better. When Goku said “I won’t let you get away with this.” There was no emotion versus “I will make you suffer!” in the kai. You guys are just too blinded by nostalgia to realize kai was better.

Still remember 27 years ago sneaking out of bed every night into my parent's bedroom to watch Dragon Ball Z every night. It was on at like 10 PM back then way before Toonami. Anyway, I just remember sitting there watching this having no idea it was going to happen and then just going nuts. My parents came running in and I had to be even sneakier from then on to stay passed my bedtime and watch Dragon Ball Z. Good times.

If no one's told you yet, in the dbz game for the ps2, budokai tenkaichi 3, Nappa says in one of the menus "Hey Vegeta, you think if I turn super saiyan my goatee would grow?" xD You mentioning your beard reminded me of that.

you have to remember at this point in the arc Freiza was curb stomping the z fighters even Goku at kai-oh-ken X20 who fired a full power kamehameah could not damage Freiza he even survived a super spirit bomb (the latent energy of an entire solar system in one blast) with only a few scratches. To see Goku go SSJ and wipe the floor with Freiza is just epic.

You know a lot of people say it’s ridiculous how long it takes to transform..... but think about the impact this one scene had in hundreds of shows after this, let alone the impact in the actual show. The first transformation is what made this show so addictive to see what levels could be beyond. In my opinion, no matter what anyone thinks the actual effect of this one scene is unimaginable

You're probably thinking of the Kai version. Which in my opinion is the best version, due to the better voice acting and the longer yell when he transforms. This version feels flat in comparison.

You need to react to the original Japanese version too: they make it much more ominous, and they put the Ozaru roar over the scream from Goku so it seems like this transformation is ripping out of him rather than being unleashed

4:40 as children watching it for first time, we didn't know what is going to happen.. so this scene matters a lot from the sense that it introduced the concept of Super Saiyan
