@@slimfastsubaru2043that is completely wrong. Mothers hold their babies like that before the baby can walk because they don't have hands and that's the only way to hold them. Especially prey animals like cats and bunnies hate being held by the scruff. It's painful and cruel. Humans don't know how to hold them properly the way the mom does, so the way WE do it hurts them. It makes it harder for them to breathe and it hurts them because it's part of their SKIN. It does not comfort them at all and scares them by dangling in the air like that. You NEVER EVER hold an animal by the scruff unless absolutely necessary and you have experience. Besides, cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies gain weight. Once they aren't an itty bitty puppy or kitten with their eyes shut and not being able to walk, they should not be held by a scruff because they gain weight and it can hurt them. They're not as light as they were. Just because an animal MOTHER does something does not mean you are permitted to do so. They know how to do it properly and that's the only way they can move their babies to keep them safe.

No, it's safe, because most animals (not just dogs) are often picked up like that because the animal is afraid or stressed, As long as you don't pull it by startling it and only lift the skin, not pinch the flesh. Because some animals that don't know us are drawn like Putin's tame ones When he did, the animal often became fierce and attacked, luckily Putin picked it up slowly so that the dog groaned
It's ok for their biological mothers to do that, but with humans it's different. First of all he probably didn't feel safe up that high, and second when you look at his tail he was definitely not feeling comfortable at all

Bro you CAN grab puppies and kittens by the back of their neck, they don't feel pain there when they are babies. Their mothers themselves carry them by grabbing the back of the neck.
Puppies have a special area on the back of their neck called a scruff. Mother dogs use it to pick up their pups without injuring them. They dont feel it at all, if you do it to an adult dog then THATS a problem, but puppies dont really mind it. Sometimes puppies just dont want to get up so they'll get picked up by the scruff. Kinda like picking up a baby in real life, except humans have arms so its less dangerous. (And babies dont have scruffs)
